  1. while I agree the current notice is entirely too short, have you considered the implications of your request? scheduled restarts are.... well, scheduled.... they are on a fixed day, and time period... individual regions are not restarted separately, but rather the whole machine is (which may be hosting 2 to 16 individual regions, depending on the machine and region types). these regions are not actually tied to a specific machine, but rather hosted on whichever machine is available. The entire restart process is run by automated script across all machines using that server channel to minimize downtime for the service as a whole, since it is essentially a live feed. knowing these factors, and given that most ISPs and WSPs only provide a day and a general time period, what exact improvement would be reasonable? a longer inworld notice time?

However, the union could organize demonstrations outside clubs that hired non-Union DJs or host(esse)s. The Union could organize patron boycotts against such establishments, or attempt to. Personally, I don't think I would dance in clubs that hired non-Union workers, or tip non-Union club workers. Why don't you just join the RL Union, Lynda? It exists to protect you against exploitation by rapacious management. It's in your own best interest to be a Union member. Jeanne the above underlined action is very likely to see all participants banned from the parcel, or estate, and has a high likelihood of seeing them banned form SL as well for harrassment and abuse of region resources. I really wouldn't recommend it.

Because if so - might use that - I only send one tweet a month - limit it - but I've not ever talked to a busy ceo that would encourage that. Wild west here, though - anything goes. You should use twitter. It sounds like you have some kind of issue to promote - not really sure what it is - your open letter thingie was really hard to comprehend. If you need promotion done - you need a larger circle. I realize your point is to troll any post I make, however you'll find that you can't get a rise out of me, and if I wanted I could play the game much better than any of suspiras sock puppets. I never waste emotional involvement on other people's opinions that neither make sense nor carry any weight. that said, I appreciate the additional official resource offered, and if you know of any others I'll be happy to add them to the OP, since the is the main point of this thread.

  9. I honestly don't get it... what exactly is your motive for posting? You say you want to help, and yet the only efforts I've seen in your recent spree is to make generic accusations, and claim that people are saying the exact opposite of what their posts plainly state. You claim not to be aware of the current "drama" yet make all sorts of claims about what it is. if you were a new poster, I'd just write it off as ignorance or selfishness, but you've been been around for a long time, and this same pattern has repeated itself consistently each time. and each time you've left in a huff, claiming that forum community has driven you away. I'm left wondering if it has ever occurred to you that it's your attitude and aggressive snide remarks that people find objectionable? how exactly do you expect people to react to someone who is carrying a perpetual chip on their shoulder because sometime in the distant past someone disagreed with them. I think you'd find the forums a much more pleasant place if you simply avoided people you have a grudge against, instead of following them around and sniping at them over some past imagined slight. I think you'd find others would react better to you as well.

  15. there's about a dozen holidays this time of year, including the "big four", of thanksgiving, hanukkah, christmas, and new years.... all of which are traditional times to take off work and spend time with family.... and while the first of them isn't for another 2 weeks, travel times means about one week of full workforce left, by which time any major changes that require multiple rollouts need to be done so they aren't left hanging disastrously in the middle.

  19. you could try, and good luck to you, because I think you'd need it.... Unions work in the real world because people must rely on the wages they make, their health relies on their working conditions, and neither workers nor companies can afford to just pop over somewhere else at the drop of a hat... none of those things apply within SL, so the likelihood of establishing a successful union is very low... personally I think those peoples would gain more benefit by starting a cooperative venture that competes in the same market (so same skills used)... unfortunately ventures like that are built on trust, which there doesn't seem to be a whole bunch of in an anonymous free world... YMMV

  21. by your definition of "clean" Mickey, as long as you can still post, they'll need more bleach WB Celes, since I missed the kickoff, perhaps you could direct me to what this was all about originally?

[...] heavens no, if you got that impression, please allow me to formally correct it. While there is a core of a few dozen people whose efforts to provide help for others is very noticeable, I feel confident in saying that each one of the them will tell you the same thing: "it takes a community" ...from the people who may only answer one question ever, to those who scan the forums multiple times a day, and even the people who just stop by to shoot the breeze and give us something to ponder or giggle at, all contributions make it both an effective resource, and a place that people want to come back to and contribute to. if any one of us drops and leaves, that doesn't mean the whole thing comes crumbling down.... but it might show that it is already crumbling. [...] But I'm just doing a drop-in and missed all the drama. Something about a boycott or something? They're not going to answer questions? There are lots of people who will answer questions. the "drama" in this case is not any personality clash among posters (which can be largely ignored), but rather LL's handling of policy. PS "two weeks notice" was used ironically, in the sense of "not working here anymore", I have never been nor am I currently on LL's payroll... When I believe they've done right, I say so, and the same when I believe they've done wrong.
