  1. Ow I also wasn't able to go this time. I hope you get better soon Cali!
  2. If you wrote a blog about your experiences with SL, I would totally read it, loved your writing style and made you me laugh and remember my noob days. Sadly, SL as a HUGE learning curve in my opinion. Over the years I invited multiple friends from my RL and none of them stayed because they got very frustrated. Staying with clothes on and avoiding to get harassed by trolls was too hard for them , and I can't blame them. I was lucky enough to be mentored by a veteran resident, and also my natural stubbornness helped tons, so I manage to enjoy SL over time. I hope you do it as well, once you get the hang of it it's quite fun!
  3. Grew up in the 90's in a part of the city where they were just start to build houses. I had neighbors next to my house, but right in front of it, it looked like a wasteland: thorny plants and even abandoned broken cars included. I was too young to be allowed to play with older brother's friends, and in the neighborhood there were only girls my own age that refused to play with me. So I spend my childhood building mud castles, cutting thorny plants with a metal rod and pretending it was a sword, exploring 'the wasteland' with my loyal german shepard (Who would have known I'd be playing Fallout without knowing it), or riding my bike. Because I was active, moving and running all the time, I excelled at sports, and if I was ever taken to a park, I would be at the top of a tree, dangling like a monkey. I'd play Street hockey with my older cousins because I was stubborn enough to learn how to skate at 5. We'd also make flower crowns and try to collect bugs and frogs before setting them free. Now, I don't wanna sound like these 'back in my days...' kind of person, but it truly breaks my heart to see how my 6 year old nephew is able to use a tablet or smartphone like any capable adult, but then when he gets up he stumbles. When he trips and falls he cries uncontrollably cause he isn't use to have scraped knees. Take him to a park and he doesn't know how to use the monkey bars or can't even sit properly on a swing. And he's not the only one. I have a HUGE family (We Mexicans are like that, what can I say), and most of the kids are like this. I've taken as a personal challenge to teach every nephew and niece how to play outside or do simple tasks or just how to play sports, but yeah. I can't really blame the parents. In some cases both of them work, and after a long day out and trying to provide for their family, they come home to relax and spend as much time as they can with the kids, watching a movie or helping with homework. No time to teach them the basics. Also, while I was working as a private tutor, I noticed how schools are focusing more on technology instead of teaching them basic things and motor skills. Such a shame.
  4. My condolences. I have a huge family in RL, and ever since the pandemic started I've lost 11 relatives due to covid and covid complications. I'm sure Devilish Daph Blake was so grateful and happy to have you as a friend.
  5. Looks good, but it needs more dancing and twirling
  6. Thank for for making me look good, and not like I just was caught looking at indecent milk pictures Had fun, the group is varied, crazy and entertaining, and I learnt a bunch of stuff from you all. can't wait for the next round
  7. I'll def try to join the next one, when is it?
  8. Dunno mann, feeling incredibly nostalgic tonight
  9. Sintiklia's gorup gift. It has one in the group gift wall that you might like http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sintiklia/139/41/33 The hair's name is Will
  10. Now I chuckle whenever I see your name in the forums, that's one awesome name 😄
  11. Let me give you an example to what Alwin meant: Cyberpunk is a popular game right now, created by CDPR. Imagine that a person wants to open a Roleplay sim heavily based on Cyberpunk, but then they announce "And by the way, we decided to name our team CDPR!" The real CDPR CAN SUE for impersonation. The name CDPR is a trademark and no one else can use it, it doesn't matter how good or innocent their intentions are. SL Residents CAN make RP sims and name them Cyberpunk, or Night City, but THEY CAN'T use the name of the company. Tribute bands (as you claim to be) do COVERS of songs, for example QUEEN tribute bands sing their songs, but they do not appropriate and announce themselves as QUEEN. T o avoid any legal issue, I recommend you to come up with your own name. Seriously, some brands/companies are very jealous of their trademark, and it's better if you try to avoid issues. Or like Alwin says, ask those who own the rights.
  12. I don't mind random IMs, what gets me slightly irritated are random friend requests when the person hasn't IMd you first, or they just said a single short "HI", before they send the request. What about getting to know each other first? Sometimes I also send random IMs (or NCs, if I feel like the IM is going to get capped) to tell people I like something they're wearing, compliment their avies, say how I loved something in their profile, picks, or something they said in the forums, or even thank sim owners and creators for the beautiful work they do. I don't see the harm of it, unless the person states they don't like strangers' IMs in their profile, in that case I just leave them alone. Some people just want to explore SL without having people bothering them, and that's fine.
  13. Oh I love these kind of threads! You and anyone who like to are free to add me as well! I haven't been active in the last few days cause I'm a tad sick, but I'll get into it soon again. I speak English and fluent Spanish, I'm also shy as hell and I'm a gamer as well
  14. As a Mexican who is addicted to Coca Cola, now I regret not having picked 'Mexicola' years ago when I had the chance. And man, Mamacita can mean a lot of things in Mex Spanish depending on tone and situation. Mamacita: (Endearing way). That's how you call your mother in the most loving way, just like with most diminutive forms. Mamacita: (playful way). How you call a woman when you think she's hot. Mamacita (Stalkerish, NOT GOOD): Most men who catcall women use this term. It's just disgusting as hell. You'd want to kick the ass of anyone who called that to your mom, sister, daughter or wife on the street.
  15. Oh, I remember that place, I spend so much time there! I got some owl and wolf avatars from there, never heard about the baby dragon thingie though My English wasn't as good back then
  16. Residents who have been here for years have experienced the success, and sadly, sometimes the death of once famous populated sims. And it doesn't matter how much time it passes by, one can't help but remember them fondly. What's the sim you miss/remember the most that isn't (obviously) around anymore? In my case it was 'Hidden Castle, fastlane", owned by the superb Angus Mesmer. These were at least 6 sims focused on the Harry potter world that included the castle (immense, it had all the important rooms portrayed in the movies, common rooms, chamber of secrets, different classrooms, etc), Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade, muggle London, Ministry of Magic (Exactly like the one in the movies), Diagon alley (Gringotts had a dragon and even a functioning cart system) and Knockturn Alley. All this in the wonderful era of sculpties! And everything looked so good and detailed. It was an optional RP sim, you could RP with friends or explore, it included a small permanent hunt where the owner shared more of his creations, and I met so many long time friends in there. Times changed and I assume the owner had to close down this magnificent project, but it stuck in my memory after all this time.
  17. I'm a roleplayer and I spend most of my time in RP sims, so checking picks is almost a must. I love reading them and learning about the RPrs' characters.
  18. Uff, I'm pretty sure I'm late for the party, but I'll give it a try. I'm interested.
  19. Just wanted to report that this issue is still happening with Second life viewer and other viewers as well. Have been missing group invitations TWICE for the last few days. It's annoying, I left SL for years, and when I did, this wasn't a thing.
