  1. SSPE1142-1159 are the ones that have piqued my interest the most. I'll just have to keep an eye on them and patiently wait.
  2. It's not the first time that someone has applied the worst possible tone to my typed words, and I'm certain that it won't be the last. I do apologize if my dry wit borders on Saharan. Anyway, enough derailing of the thread. I hope everyone gets a stilt home in a spot they like. Unrelated to the stilt homes, when are the remaining SSP log home regions likely to be named and subsequently released? I'm sure that they are not a high priority, but there are some really nice spots that will eventually be available.
  3. I see. Encourage everyone to grab the rubbish "a" regions so you have less competition for the others. Good thinking.
  4. SOON. Sorry, couldn't resist. Due to overwhelming demand, and to keep it fair for everyone, I will release it between 9:05 and 9:15 am SLT. Also, for those who jokingly asked, no, it does not come furnished. Good luck to all, and if the lucky new owner puts a helicopter pad on the roof or uses it as a breeding farm, I will make sure Santa knows to put you on his naughty list.
  5. Don't give away all the secrets. Makes it harder for those of us who want a specific parcel.
  6. This one is difficult, but I'm releasing my beachfront traditional that has been my main home for almost a year and a half. I'll pick a time tomorrow unless someone really wants it, and wishes to arrange a time. It is open for viewing, so feel free to walk through it ahead of time. No direct road access, but above average privacy with great sunsets. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Willow Heights/205/151/23
  7. Zoomed all the way in, some of the orange blocks turn red. At that scale, I'm only seeing 45 that are still orange, including "Hi." I think green means something needs to be fixed on that region, if I remember the color explanation correctly.
  8. Right. My point was that there is no visual clue as to whether or not QA has occurred for the houseboats.
  9. I also count 85 "orange" regions, but the houseboat regions don't have the colored square borders, so they may or may not still require QA. Also, the private island region that was above Fintastic has apparently been relocated. The region artifacts still show on the map, but it no longer has a name. For those using the map to monitor progress, the web browser version of the map appears to update more frequently than the in world version, though it doesn't display the region names. You can still find out the region names one at a time by clicking on them, but that's not quite as convenient.
  10. US Thanksgiving is November 26.
  11. Looks like a stilt region, same as Eastbridge Quay.
  12. Go look at a door on one of the Victorian homes, and tell me how it is different.
  13. This is correct. Put another way, you are allowed 5 claims in a 24-hour period. When you reach the limit, it will tell you that you have to wait 24 hours, but that technically isn't true. You only have to wait until it has been 24 hours since your first claim. You will then have to wait until it has been 24 hours since your 2nd claim to grab another.
  14. This isn't one I would normally post, but in the spirit of getting more abandons listed, here is a houseboat that I just managed to catch. Its defining characteristic is that it is on the southernmost region of Bellisseria. I'll be dropping it in 5 minutes. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Spinnaker/184/124/15
  15. There have been a steady stream of abandons of all home types in the past week, far more than usual, but you are right that fewer of them are getting posted in this thread. I tend to only list homes that I think people are likely to want, and don't bother with the ones I consider less desirable. Also, it appears that some regular contributors have left the GoH, or are at least no longer posting abandons. Under these circumstances, the best option for finding those "forever" parcels is to monitor the home selection page and take your chances. I'm sure the abandon postings will pick up again eventually, especially as available homes dwindles again.
  16. Fielder's Choice is one of the mixed regions, Vics and logs.
  17. I did not get the impression that anyone is attempting to legislate or enforce anything. I do see differing opinions being expressed, which should be okay as long as it remains civil. You lean toward an "it's not forbidden so it must be okay" perspective. Some of us prefer a "just because you technically can, doesn't mean you should" point of view. It is obvious to me that the rezz zones in Bellisseria were created specifically to allow for the rezzing of vehicles, and the graphics on the roads, water, and signs make this abundantly clear. I would even go so far to surmise that if it were possible to script the rezz rights to only allow for vehicles, that they would have been configured that way, but we all know that it's not possible. That said, if no one is around to see other items being rezzed, then it as if it never happened. I may feel a little more strongly about it if I'm exploring on my scooter and encounter a full kitchen in the middle of the road, but so far I have managed to avoid that scenario.
  18. I am also releasing a waterfront log home. I'll be dropping it at 11:30 SLT unless someone wants to arrange a specific time. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Vidalia/206/59/52
  19. It helps to include the SLURL so people can see exactly where it is on the map or have a look in person.
  20. That sounds like a reason to not live near any rezz zones to me, or at least not near any people who use them that way.
  21. I hope you are right about this, but it does not appear that it had been completely disabused as recently as October 1st. From the linked post by Patch himself: "To that end, and as gently as I try to remind everyone, the Linden Homes model of home ownership is positioned as a constricted value proposition type of new user or starter home. I have said before that at some point you probably would or should naturally want to "grow" out of the Linden Home ownership model and want bigger, better, more control, etc. That is totally ok and by design, but some people are also perfectly happy with staying put in a Linden Home, also ok. "
  22. There will never be a time when everyone is 100% pleased with what the moles are building. Every home and every region has things that we wish were done differently. Some of the design decisions were made for technical or financial reasons. Others were solely a design team preference. Many of us are of the opinion that because we are paying customers, we have the right to complain about the irksome aspects of Bellisseria. Others feel that Bellisseria is vastly superior to the old residential regions, the positives greatly outweigh the negatives, that we should be content and grateful for what is being added, and that we all need a reminder that these are intended to be "starter homes," with the implication being that we can always go live on a private region and have whatever we want. Neither side is right or wrong. I think part of the problem is that, regardless of what LL may have intended, Bellisseria is not full of "starter homes." Sure, some Bellisserians merely want a Linden home to use as a dressing room, worm farm, or skybox anchor, but those aren't the people posting in these forums. They like the LI increase, but otherwise would have been content with the old residential regions. Likewise, there are certainly a large number of residents in Bellisseria who are actually new to SL, and these are in fact their first homes. I may be wrong, but I think most people living in Bellisseria have a different perspective. In spite of the shortcomings, most of us own multiple homes in Bellisseria, and many will add accounts as new themes are released. Most of us have also been in SL for years, and have experienced ownership of amazing properties on mainland or private islands. We are not noobs living in our first SL homes. Many of us know what it takes to build complex structures from scratch and terraform and landscape entire regions. Yet, here we are, returning to the premium account fold, testing our decorating mettle against flawed floorplans and tiny LI allowances, enjoying a sense of community and virtual living that cannot be experienced at this scale anywhere else in SL. In other words, we find something special about living in Bellisseria that we don't get in other areas of the grid. It draws us in and keeps us here. It is not just a place to set home, it is where many of us happily spend the vast majority of our time. That leads us to the other issue. Because we have this attachment to Bellisseria, we want it to be perfect, and sometimes it feels as though the homes and regions were not designed from a resident's perspective. To be fair, some improvements have been made as the new themes have been released, custom wall colors being the most obvious example, but I think we can all agree that there are other changes we would like to see. Keep in mind that that what is "perfect" for you may not match what is "perfect" for me. We also have to remember, as mentioned earlier, that some choices are made for technical or financial reasons. As for the changes that could easily be made, I see no reason why we should not voice our opinions on such things in these forums as long as it is done in a respectful manner (I have not seen anything disrespectful in this thread). The moles have built us an amazing community, and continue to add to it, but they have limited resources, and likely have not considered every possible point of view. I can obviously live with the choices that they have made, or I wouldn't be doing so. Nonetheless, while we may never get everything that we want, the chances of getting anything is zero if they aren't aware that we want them.
  23. You could have stopped right there, as it forgives anything that anyone would want to do. That said, you readily admit that there are lines that people cross that offend your sense of what goes well with the surroundings. You have your imagination, I have mine. You have your lines, I have mine. Don't misunderstand. I am very much a live and let live person. I just happen to also have a larger than average range of what qualifies as "totally out of whack with everything around them." Luckily the derender feature is there for people like me who aren't so tolerant of what lurks in the creative minds of some of our Bellisserian neighbors.
