  1. I don't know if I can post about SR anymore. Can we post about being peeved about Flickr? Tilted photos? Here's a 3-fer: SR thought it funny that after a big discussion about the Dutch Angle and how it is being over-used by the lazy, made her very next Flickr shot a... Dutch Angle. The scene warranted it, in her humble opinion. Straight on perspective just didn't have the same punch. But she still thought it was funny. The Flickr peeve: Still trying to sift through which groups to put this in. Is it considered a "landscape"? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Depends on the group. So I have to read each group's blurb. Ugh. Or just not post in a destination group? It is the Junkyard, fyi. Just tying up loose strings here (gah, as a cat those are fun to play with and YES! eat!).
  2. My fave is a group I really like, about "dark and moody" and for a while there, while most people were adhering to the rules and INTENT of the group, we'd get pictures of baby girls in pink and bubble gum colors and bright light. Fairies with pastel fairy-ness. The opposite of dark and moody, in other words. Thank goodness, someone there woke up and the moderation is back. MODERATION, when applied EVENLY for EVERYONE instead of being applied like a blindfolded drunk throwing darts at a board that has been removed, is a blessing. Otherwise... it is a peeve. Last post. Even cats have their limits. The inmates are running the asylum, and I mean that as literally as the metaphor allows.
  3. Apparently I cannot complain about my VERY PUBLIC alt! SR must have complained that I was JOKING about being PO'd about her Flickr. She's such a dork. WTF? So Orwar had his reply to THAT comment removed. I mean... WHAT?????? However, back on another thread, pages of OFF TOPIC political things that have been officially flagged as off topic are still there. Funny how that happens. wtf wtf What does anyone have to do around here to get things applied EVENLY? She wonders, quite PEEVED.
  4. oh ffs really... totally... ffs Totally a pet peeve. So fed up. Joins the biped. "Cheese"... talk about cheese folks.
  5. Flickr, which I use for 99.9999% SL things (if you look closely you can find RL things on the stream), is nothing BUT a peeve. Maybe I am wrong, and people can correct me (and I truly hope you do), but it is so annoying that you cannot group the groups into groups! There are destination groups that require SLurls. There are some that do not. There are some that allow avatars in the shot and some vehemently do not! Etc. Some are moderate groups. Some safe only. You can't always tell by the name of the group! Why can't I put my groups into specific folders? Thus preventing me from each effing time I want to post something to a group having to scroll through a long line of SL groups and wondering "I don't remember if I can have an avatar in that photo or not..."
  6. I'm so poor I'm on Medicaid. It wasn't a mistake, though. It was an abundance of caution. There WERE indicators showing "heart attack" (including an enzyme, troponin, which can indicate there was heart damage). I cannot argue with "abundance of caution." They acted as if I had had a heart attack until tests proved to them otherwise. I am glad the final diagnosis was "nope, not that, not at all, we haven't a clue what it IS." The big hospital, which is supposed to be such a jewel of American medicine, has a way of forgetting patients are people, and instead treats them like numbers, everyone falls into a computerized collection of treatments, etc.
  7. It is NOT pleasant, but it is over soon as is the feeling of wanting to paw your nose off afterwards. Getting blood drawn isn't pleasant either. The nose thing isn't something to be afraid of, just realize it won't rank up there with the 1 million most fun things to do.
  8. Considering the "month" I've had (about 35 days), I'd say your take is about spot on. Since 10/5 I've had: An emergency surgery for an umbilical hernia (that has been around and boring for 10+ years) which killed a few inches of small intestines. Many days in the hospital. Complications when the stitches came out, more time in the ER. My apartment flooded from the upstairs neighbor's over-flowing toilet. Getting an upper respiratory, going to the ER to get a COVID test and instead get hospitalized for 5+ days with "you had a heart attack!" (Spoiler alert: Nope. No heart attack. My heart is stupidly healthy.) ZOMG! This is all happening because the Universal Photographer is filming me using the Dutch Angle! :::shakes fist at sky and unfollows that photographer:::
  9. Precisely @Orwar! I do it sooooo rarely, but for example I chose to on this shot because it was about being stressed, and a bit of stress eating (fruit? that IS fantasy!) and drinking (champagne? I wish!). So I canted the shot to make it less peaceful. Whether it worked or not... :::shrug::: PS. And it was the inability to peacefully have this kind of discussion in a frikkin photography thread ffs, that had me flouncing out of THAT place for good. Well, that and being attacked by an asshat for I forget what. It is so weird we can type asshat.
  10. Several days ago, the biped did go get the COVID test done. The kind they stick up your nose. Ew. Ick. Ow. Bleck. /me rubs paw across nose in sympathy For a bunch of stupid reasons, not entirely in Seicher's scope of control, she ended up doing the test at the nearby ER. Good news: She doesn't have COVID. She also doesn't have blood clots being thrown around from the surgery done in October. Bad news: They declared "zomg, we think you had a heart attack!" (I'm pretty sure those are the words used.) And "zomg, we are going to treat you for having a heart attack until we figure this all out! zomg! We are going to transfer you to the big hospital!" Many days later, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and every test done under the sun and: Good news: SR's heart is stupidly healthy. The cardiologist actually said, "Your imaging looks like a textbook image of a normal, healthy heart." No plaque no nothing. No fluid around the heart nor in the lungs. Strong and healthy muscle contractions. Valves A-OK. She never had a heart attack (except upon hearing repeatedly, "You had a heart attack."). Diagnosis: "I dunno"... Idiopathic wtf? After the restrictive diet, SR did a total cat thing and drove straight to the nearest fast food place and ordered (and ate) a bacon cheeseburger and fries and a chocolate shake to dunk the fries into, because she COULD! Her heart can take it! 2020, amirite? (Writing 3rd person like that is difficult.)
  11. If the people who tilt every picture read other subforums we'd all get stern finger waggings for being mean. There would be foot stamping, and citing non-existent thread rules, for talking about photography on a non-photography thread (because talking about photography on a photography thread is verbotin according to the notorious finger waggers and tongue clickers). These comments would so peeve everyone involved, I'll bet there would be a lot of hair tossing. PS. Yes, I tell you, cats are unreliable. You didn't notice this cat giving away stuff, did you? No. You did not.
  12. The benefit of this angle ^^^ is that it allows the breasts (can we say boobies?) to point away from the body at 90 degrees, which, as you know in SL is problematic. (sarcasm font)
  13. Meow. The "Dutch Angle" CAN be used for art shots! But it is far from new and edgy. Well, actually it is used to put a little tension into the image. But um, yeah, each time this comes up as a peeve, I have to scamper in and pee on those that use this every single shot. In Flickr I won't fave a photo that is a standard canted shot. (I will fave a Dutch Angle shot that is used creatively.) I won't fave a photo with some standard poses with finger gestures and tongues out. Soooo edgy. :::eyeroll::: As others have said: Routinely relying on tilted images is lazy. Learn to use the damned camera. Or how to crop. Or something. Learn something.
  14. Yebbit what is meant by "trust"? How do you "trust" the military in the same way you do a small business? Trust them, any of them, to do what? And how do you compare? (This is more towards the Forbes graphic and not your comment.) I respect the people in the military (unless proven they cannot be) but do I trust the institutions? Which part of the military? No trust in the Supreme Court? What, people don't "trust" them to do what the individual trust-issue person WANTS them to do, or trust that the process is good? Trust that the process is good in theory? In practice? Yeah... I'm having a whole lotta trouble with that graphic. I think there may be some truth in there, but where, and what is it? I'm not sure "trust" is the thing. I'd say that graphic is a more accurate representation of "respect" or "like" than trust.
  15. (This one is also on hiatus, but sometimes a cat has gotta do what a cat has gotta do. Or not. It depends. No one said we are reliable.)
  16. It appears the boots are working according to plan, Mistress.
  17. Here's another alternative: Embrace (as it were) the weird and hilarious borkeness of trying to hug in SL. Trying to hug, kiss, pounce hug, etc. other people and vice versa has resulted in some of the deepest, longest... LAUGHING (you pervs, laughing!) in my 11+ years in SL. It ain't never gonna work well, at least as I think you're wanting it to, because of all of the reasons mentioned above. Enjoy the madness.
  18. I suppose the above post/gif was for Seicher (she really should bother to write her own posts, like how hard is it to log in?). This would be ME at Fauve's inventory party.
  19. We're up to four. I believe this is the "Let's get snockered and watch Fauve attempt to organize her inventory" party. Hijinks and shenanigans!
  20. Well, gosh, it ain't hard when the bar is set so low. I mean mew. ETA: See thread in "lifestyle & relationship" subforum "misunderstandings" about how humor can backfire...
  21. /me facepalms and realizes that there were posts some months ago that had I known this largess I would have typed as the kitteh and not Seicher
