  1. Every time I go to a shopping event I find new peeves! There is some kind of noise emitter that sounds like breathing. In. Out. Loud enough that it sounds like someone has a cold. Just. Why? The other one, which I've encountered frequently before at events, is the one where there is heavy female sighing. Again. Ugh. New stupid in gacha. A very cute BOM tattoo! Yay! It is for astrology signs. I clicked and clicked on the vendor and nothing. Puzzled, I looked around and saw the gacha machine. Now, wtf would I play a gacha and get a whole bunch of astrology sign tats that have nothing to do with me? This, imho, was an incredibly stupid marketing choice. I may still get the tat, but through a 3rd party vendor on Marketplace. Idjits.
  2. I'm guessing there is a worm shortage somewhere in the USA. Very sad. Interestingly, I learned different lyrics to this when I was growing up, but I couldn't find that version. Just as well, it would probably trigger someone. The horror. Peeve: I was really hoping to find a version in German...
  3. While this goes back to the "always" peeve of "people": Using the laugh reaction to a comment and because "people" abuse that emoticon as a scorn laugh waaaaaay too much, having to wonder if the recipient of *my* laugh realizes it is a genuine laugh. This has been brought up before at how eye-rolling annoying that scorn laugh over use is. Has been for quite a while. There was one prolific poster who is no longer posting (much) who trolled people relentlessly with it and it has been used by many since. There's good usage of the rare, perfectly timed scorn laugh. Sadly, we'll not see those days again. This is why we can't have nice, sarcastic things.
  4. This image is approved by the CatCake. Gawd that's funny.
  5. I read about your ♥ mother's passing, and I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. I'm "glad" that you can go to the funeral, in these crazy times. Words are hard. :::hug:::
  6. Peeve: The biped can't do the three hour math and ends up at what should be a busy music event to... emptiness. Worse, and another peeve, the moonshine is virtual. Plus: I'm liking the MS snipping tool for taking very quick "screenshots" for various uses. BD is great for awrt but the snipping tool is great for random bits.
  7. That's the problem. This is not true. The stupid, by being stupid, have let loose so much virus everyone is at risk. My friend's relatives, the ones that got and one died of COVID, that you laughed about... did everything right and were NOT stupid people. It took one lapse with an infected delivery person. The stupid are killing us all.
  8. Why use common sense? Why use basic hygiene you learned in kindergarten? Arguing about obscure studies is much more fun and useful.
  9. Quick! To the one-off anecdotal examples, Bat Man! Yup. History will judge us well... Assuming there's anyone left. I'm imagining the dinosaurs did the same thing. "Masks? Piffle. My arms are too short to reach my face. I'm fine."
  10. Well, tbh, if I saw this in FS, I'd simply grab the little tab in the lower right and resize the window to the obvious right proportions... That's looking at the image. the last trailing line... not sure.
  11. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/27/covid-coronavirus-update-black-friday/ People who don't wear masks, don't wash hands, don't social distance = fools Actually dangerous fools who have made the level of covid out there so overwhelming that they make it so much more likely that ANYONE will get the plague. Yay personal freedom! Don't take my freedom! I can't wear a mask because it won't protect me 100% and is therefore useless! Give me Liberty or... Live Free or ... Pet peeve: people Hey, it ain't black friday ... now it is black death friday! yay
  12. That was another point I forgot to make, besides a company offering volunteer overtime vs more draconian "no holiday for YOU" edicts, and that was "on call" overtime. It is good to see the problem got fixed, albeit not in the blink of an eye.
  13. I know, right? It makes one itchy! There are ways of having people work holidays. Volunteers, for one. I don't mean unpaid ones, quite the opposite. There were many times if given the option of having a paid day off for a holiday OR making time & a half by working on said holiday, I'd be at the front of the line wanting that overtime. If you are of the ilk that SL is "just" a game, then... hm. But since that's not LL's position, as far as I know, but it is a worldwide business (like to places that don't even have Thanksgiving! gasp!) that hosts other money making businesses...? And like my effing cable company when my cable goes out for extended periods of time, guess what? My bill doesn't go down. Can't reach property you own but pay tier on? I'm guessing one doesn't get a refund for that lost time or revenue. As you said, Paul. Not to even mention when the dumpster fires happen 24/7 on adjunct things like the forums, huh...conveniently timed for weekends and holidays. Who could foresee that? right?
  14. Btw, regarding this photo? Taken at my own (rented) home. Guess what? I don't have a clue as to the complexity count of anything you see in this photo... or out of the photo. It rezzes fine for me. I like the way it looks/acts and my rental LI use is based on LI not complexity so... yeah. Zero effs given for whether the items could be made with more efficient design. As someone with an education in design (industrial/graphic) and mechanical engineering, elegance of design is appreciated. I get the low complexity ideal. I just... nope... not in SL... not if I don't have to. If, on the other hand, someone likes to derez everything that isn't up to snuff, won't purchase anything not ideally constructed, etc. etc. I tip my virtual hat to that, too. I get it. I'm just not doing it because, gee, I dunno, I'd rather shop and explore and dance and perv and chat and take photos and...
  15. No one said you can't hate on them, but you know very well that you're going to get comments. Geez. (And the potato computer remark wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the whiner who whines about everything because everyone is out to get her in their various power moves.) No one said you didn't have a legit complaint about complexity. This ties into my dressing peeve I just posted. I would have zero fun in SL if all I did was worry about how many triangles everything I own has. I have enough trouble just dressing myself. If I analyzed every single purchase, well... I'd walk around in that full alpha and live in a LL plywood cube. It sucks the FUN out of it for me. Just like sitting in a public sim with a friend trying to get the sitting pose to work. Adjust adjust adjust for EVER. Fun level... plummets. (I hand the remote control over to the friend to fuss, I'll ignore your hand through my rib cage.) And that isn't to say MY way, my lack of tech fussing tolerance, is the best way. It is my way. I try to be considerate of others and not be a giant asshat about things when it matters. Otherwise... deal with it princess.
  16. Dead Doll (they lost their Z) even put that in their sale notice. Wear a full alpha. Meh, I think I'm done shopping. And yeah, the jumper was on sale. I didn't factor that into the time spent.
  17. Peeve: IRL get up, throw on clean underwear and a dress. Yeah, a dress. It is one piece of cloth and therefore less effort than pants and a top. Comb hair, put it in a low ponytail. Basic hygiene in there somewhere. Total time spent, including brushing teeth, maybe 10 minutes? tops. SL: log on. Undress the cute outfit from the previous days. Find a jumper (which is not a sweater here in the States, but a dress with a top under it). Fiddle with color, trim HUD. Done. Keep the same panties on since... ever. Rummage around to find those boots I want. I know they are there. Damn, what is the name? Find those. Fiddle with HUD for socks that peek out of the top. Decide the outfit needs a bracelet. Rummage. Swear. Rummage. Fiddle with the fit, and why isn't the resizer working? Decide I want to have the Tram hair with the two circle pigtails. Tram only numbers their hair. Which T01480c8r4 effing is it? Fiddle with color and fit HUD. Decide the bow is over the top, find and fiddle with bow HUD. Check that teeth and eyeballs haven't been knocked off in the dressing process (why does this keep happening? rhetorical). Total time spent, well over an hour. ETA: I did NOT change any makeup or tats or... if I had the time spent would have been greatly increased. This is a report from Seicher, as for me, the cat: Both worlds, awake/rez, lick butt for 5 minutes. Meow. Done. Too lazy for a photo, this is from using the MS clipping tool, to show that this is a true story, bro.
  18. There needs to be noted there is a difference between buying something high complexity for your own use on your own personal spot, such as @Orwar 's example of a high complexity tea cup for no good reason, and the uncaring wearing of laggy scripts or outfits in public. As much as they were grumbled about, the jelly dolls did help alert people. Someone's buying a pretty tea cup to set on their own window sill isn't on the same level as going to a busy shopping event dripping in god knows what. Also, if the pretty items are going to be used in an area intended for public use, then paying more attention to needless complexity is more important if you want the area to be seen as intended by more people. Like you, over the years, I have seen the numbers dropping on my own outfits and I rarely see jelly dolls, even in Black Dragon. In fact I sometimes make the concerted effort to lower my viewer limit so that I do see more jelly dolls!
  19. Peeve: Asshats who whine and complain about people peeving... in a peeve thread, while having the highest post count in said "annoying" thread. Peeve: Cognitive dissonance Peeve: Asshats, because of their asshattedness, who abuse moderation with the only goal to get perfectly fine threads shut down Peeve: A moderation system that allows for that abuse Peeve: Someone stupidly perverse and childish who pretends not to know the difference between short, friendly off topic side threads that are inherent in a friendly community (there's the concept they can't/won't abide) and relentless, multi-thread, agenda driven BS off topic bullies whose sole purpose appears to be to shut down threads and/or cause dumpster fires Peeve: A moderation system that allows for that
  20. @Orwar sometimes it is a mixture of not knowing and not caring. Sometimes it is the appreciation of something beautiful and when used on your own region/house personal area then... ppppth. Sure, if something can be made more efficiently then, ok. Also I don't know if all of the items are new or old or what the story is. My comment you quoted about "amazing" was more like what they do for their customers. Setting everything, literally everything to $L50 is wonderful. They also do a pretty generous "who was here on Monday" promo. Their customer service is good. Their responsiveness in group chat is good. I'm not a slavish fangurl but I do buy their stuff and I've never been anything more than pleased and... well, eff the complexity. And yeah, to the other one... sometimes it is eff your potato of a machine. Boo hoo. My computer is old but was awesome in its day (it is a hand-me-down) and so it still functions pretty well. I realize though that some have better machines. Whoop dee doo. The whole world isn't a frikkin conspiracy... and for people who actually know me, they might find it at least worth an eye brow raise to read me typing this. Pet peeve: People who just suck the very oxygen and energy out of a room by merely appearing. That is NOT about you Orwar. Philosophically maybe there isn't a big, over-arching "point" to it all, but that doesn't then equate logically into "tear it all down and make everyone miserable for your own selfish, childish whims." I very truthfully walked into this thread just now, just starting on my first cup of coffee, not really in a good or bad mood. In one or two post readings it is like being physically gut punched and having all of the air knocked out of me. Energy vampire isn't even close to an accurate description. I see no point to THAT. It is so insanely pervasive as to be unable to avoid and stay in the room. Again, and not said in the normally quipping manner I usually say it: This is why we can't have nice things.
