  1. I'm sincerely curious, being a veteran profile reader AND rewriter, has anyone actually said things to you about a picks tab labeled "things I hate"?
  2. You have 24 hours from posting the thread to EDIT it. You cannot remove it. Only a moderator can REMOVE a thread. In editing it you can delete all of it but you have to have *something* in the text box. Most people leave a period. Or, you can edit the OP to reflect what you actually said your post was about (rather than how it came across). If you wish to start a photo thread, then it should be posted in the appropriate subforum, which is not the general discussion forum. If you wish to talk about the Photo of the Day that isn't daily, then talk about that, not how much you love your avatar with self-promoting photos. People read your words, not your intent. It is all they CAN do. A conversation about the not-daily Daily Photo is appropriate in the general discussion subforum. If you find the replies you got to be hostile, then you are probably correct, you are not suited for a public forum... any public forum because the moderated forums here are pretty mild.
  3. Corollary peeve: Realizing now that my posted peeves are as likely going to be about being self-peeved as they are to be the old standby of "people."
  4. Peeve: Annoyance at myself for poking the forum bear in a philosophical thread, knowing I was poking the bear, and doing it anyway. Oy. Sometimes I need a parent.
  5. I am crushed, I tell you, that Prok finds me frivolous. (no sarcasm fonts were harmed in this devil of a comment)
  6. No, you didn't make yourself clear. Part of that was including your own two photos.
  7. I don't recall saying that the guy I quoted (Andrews) was the originator of the notion behind the blurb in the OP. (Or for that matter, whether I agree with the premise, or even what the premise is, not that Prokofy said I did.) I don't think that the OP requires religious belief or practice, or that atheists can't comprehend the notion of a "universal" love. One could also argue that "love your neighbor as yourself" or "do unto others..." at first glance is a noble assertion, but is it really? Wouldn't "love your neighbor as they would like to be loved" maybe a better way? As we love ourselves? So many people suffer from some form of self-hatred, so why foist that upon others? Or maybe the way we like to be treated, for example "leave me alone, don't bug me, stay off my lawn and ffs no hugs!" is not how my neighbor would like to be loved? Is love your neighbor really work? Or is it actually easier to do than to hold onto mistrust, hatred, resentment... etc? /me takes a long toke, passes it to someone else in the dorm room and settles down into the role of devil's advocate (which is tough, not believing in the devil).
  8. I've studied a lot of Eastern philosophy and have found it very interesting and useful. I think Eastern philosophy is a lot more pragmatic than Western, but that's another philosophical OP for another day (and one that would get about zero comments, I think. ). I'm so glad you included the link, I LOVE Fake Buddha Quotes! Yes, the quote goes to metta, loving kindness, which is what the quote in the OP back seven pages was about... or was it? I am still hearing the "99 problems" song though.
  9. We really need a groan reaction emoji for @Lindal Kidd's jokes. (And I have been copy/pasting/emailing them to a friend who LOVES this kind of humor. ♥ )
  10. Another one I can't believe someone didn't mention, ya nerds:
  11. More Bear McCreary, also good for all soundtracks. Am I the only one who, well, covets, Jamie?
  12. The whole soundtrack, really, Bear McCreary does great work on all his projects. Also love the visuals on this intro:
  13. /me looks in and notices that this has become a music thread. /me nods and looks at the Forumites behaving according to the sociological norms one comes to expect @Ceka Cianci it is really wrong of me, but it is the way my brain works, I read your "50 loves/50 woes" and immediately heard "99 problems but a b**** ain't one"
  14. Can't believe this (below) was TEN years ago. FFS...
  15. I took the love language thingie, twice, and both times it came up as this (below). So yup, if you want me to purr, scritch my head and tell me I'm a good girl kitty. Receiving gifts only 13%??? Not hardly. Gimme gimme gimme! (But only if it has meaning for you. )
  16. Rawr! Some of us are grateful for being the furry feline overlords! mew
  17. I haven't expressed hatred towards Bagnu. I've expressed dislike, incredulity, annoyance, frustration and a few other things, but not because she's a prostitute/whore/sex worker/sex toy/harlot/escort, but because of words she's written... many, many words about things that in my opinion make me cringe, really really hard. I stand by my expression of dislike towards Bagnu as the person she has represented herself to be. The White Knight always insults the person they are "tilting" for, because the White Knight makes the assumption that only the Knight can talk for the "oppressed." The "oppressed's" words need deciphering, because apparently only the White Knight can adequately do justice and protect the poor, stupid, oppressed poster. (Generic poster, whoever is being protected and treated like a dim child.)
  18. I'm stealing the gif. Nope, I haven't read that book of Tan's but I'll put it on my list at Amazon.
  19. Anyone want to fess up to being the other naked kitteh? I know the scenario in the OP was hypothetical, but I don't need a lot of reasons to pose naked in the forum, especially with such an attractive friend. All my personal details? Age/Sex/Location? I can now be shown as an "adult" in the CFA shows, so that means I'm over 8 months. Sex, not yet, but I still have all of my parts so I can be shown in the adult classes. Location, in my kitty cup with my buddy...
  20. You can look up my avatar Seicher Rae (this Gatogateau creature is just this alter-ego, alt thing that is probably just confusing to a newcomer). If I'm inworld I'd be happy to help you. I'm hoping this offer will cause mass trauma to others in this thread who won't believe their eyes, etc.
