The problem is the current situation encourages this insane behaviour - you apparently only have a real chance to get a home when you are at least as dedicated as the competition. By asking people to calm down you only sleightly increase the chances of those who won't listen. Why should the Lab care about the home availability? Regular people will just become disillusioned by the current process. Belarissa was meant to be an incentive for folks to go premium - by now it however has become a discouragement for may to continue or to sign up instead.

Like everything Slyvia recently says on the Forums regarding Linden Homes ... if one does not stand the echo one should stop shouting - I'm out.

The biggest "advantage" of the current system is that it keeps the customers believing they can get one of the new homes with a realistic chance. A lottery already implies that not everyone will get lucky.

And this also holds a recipe for desaster - once enough homes for all are available there is a good chance of people will be abbandoning even more - if you can get them anytime you want to, it makes no sense to hold on to them anymore right? Exactley predicting the extent of such a feedback loop caused by human nature is something even companies way bigger than LL struggle with. Could be anywhere between negligeble and desastrous.

How many homes will the finished continent estimatly have? Will the CEO then give green lights for a second continent? If that is far from enough they might as well just copy parts of the finished continent - the whole squishy pickle sandbanks section seems to made with the thought of emergency multiplication in mind.

Ah,... but you can get away with pretty much profanity in an US Forum due to lack of general knowledge (not critcising the US here - I bet it is the same in the UK as well). "bloody", "darn", "friggin" ... all minced oaths but no one ever gets sanctioned for them. Modern folks don't even get the hidden profanities anymore - so a huge bunch of them consider the words just "innapropriate" but have no idea why. Just like back when US universities censored Shakespeare for sexual references and ended up leaving in more than half of them because they (wannabe literature scientists even) didn't understand them.

I still think they didn't think this one through. Right now Premium is "top of the food chain" - sure we can add on Tier and rent private islands. But basically the premium users are treated equal on most accounts. I bet there is a significant amount of premium subscribers which just are for a feeling of superiority - take away that superiority and replace it by mediocricy by placing something above it and those people might rethink their investment. Think the kitty might be wrong about this? Just look at the photography, fashionista and blogger scenes to get an estimate how important prestige in current SL society is.

I would not be too surprised to find the Lab one day starting to throttle those autoupdaters... website calls and bandwidth come with a cost after all. If enough folks start using short span autoupdaters this becomes equivalent to a DDoS attack (well without the malignent intent).
