  1. Go to https://my.secondlife.com/ and you can upload your pic into your RL profile section, and add some interests, and something about your self, or about your 'digital self (even better from an SL point of view).
  2. Ok, you're profile says your account is a couple of days old, b ut... it also says you are "not new and not an alt"... So on the assumption that you have been using Firestorm for some time before Bento... The settings for Firestorm with Bento are... the settings for Firestorm without Bento... You do not need to change settings because of Bento.
  3. If you don't know how to make static mesh objects prims n props etc, making rigged mesh clothing never mind fitted mesh will be a real steep learning curve. For full perm template mesh, prices vary wildly, from 'semi exclusive' items where the vendor *claims* they will only sell to x number of stores, that saells for 10,000 to 25000 ls, down to first time meshers who might sell stuff for a few handfulls of ls. If you want to try your hand at texturing fp mesh, look at Meli Imako on the Marketplace, her stuff isnt expensive, and if you choose the newer "fitmesh" items with fits for various mesh bodies, a) you can wear your creations on your new mesh body and b) they might sell better. Meli's stuff is typically around 250-350 per pack. It would also be worth swotting up on "Materials" in SL, specular maps etc, as from what I've seen 90% of merchants dabbling in materials basically get it completely wrong, using default LL values for specular tightness, and using specular maps that are too damn dark, so they do a load of work for no visible effect, learning materials is well worth while.
  4. I havn't looked into rat avi's but, a Kemono mesh avi, and add the fitted mesh kemono torso (so you can edit boob size with body shape sliders on the mesh, and then check the kemono mod makers like ambix for rat mods. Kemono's and parts you can find on the MP easily enough.
  5. Did you ever play Sims 2? You're in the CAS ('create a sim' for the non simmers amongst you), and you'rfe just crafted this stunning looking sim from the 5.9 gb of custom skin clothes hair etc in your sims 2 downloads folder, and... what to put as the name... I made one called Kleo Klytyna, I rather liked that sim, was sad when I lost her along with the neighborhood she was in during a hardware problem. Eventually, she lived again... In SL. Meanwhile, a couple of people I used to know who vanished from SL... One had wanted to use an obscure spelling of an obscure female name from Arthurian myth, but it was taken, so she made up a name with similar spellingand celtic feel to it, then when she googled for it, she discovered it was an actual expression in Welsh. The other made an oriental avi, and chose a fake jokey chinese name that sounds quiie smutty, she did this apparently because near her home there was a chinese takeaway called "Fu Kwai", but all the locals mispronounced it by moving the space one character to the right, and she thought a similar 'fake chinese name would be funny... I remember seeing somebody with a snobby chip on their shoulder mock said joke name and ask why anyone would use it, to which my aquaintance replied... "Well I was going to call my self Govenor Linden, but apparently that name is already in use, quell surprise!"

You may not even be able to fly or walk out of the region. The fix for the region is a restart. Your immediate work-around is as suggested, log off then log into a different region. Occasionally, if you are a new account in SL, you will find your self griefed by the parcel owners LagTech Griefer Orb ( Sorry your avatar is too young to spend money in our store, come back when you are older meanwhile have a nice grief from Asshat Fashions! ), and ejected to invalid co-ordinates, floating a few meters above the World Limbo Ocean, such as -20km x axis, yes more than 20 km off the edge of a sim! And you can't move from an invalid location, not walk or run or swim or fly or teleport, so as mentioned earlier in the thread you have to relog, in a different location. many new people don't know how to do this, so use of Griefer Orbs by landholders in this way is a serious problem for newer residents. Remember not all new people in SL *HAVE* a home location set, or even know they should do so.
  7. First thing to remember is that there are different kinds of "lag", gpu based lag that stomps your frame rate, network lag that chokes your connection, clientside lag, server side lag physics lag etc. Having shaped terrain shouldn't cause 'lag' unless the slopes affect physical prims that is prims/objects set to fall/roll/bounce etc. as the physic s engine will be constantly trying to determin how the slope affects them, a physical cube in a conical pit is a really annoying thing, it will bounce forever in worst cases. However, major land editing and building can cause some lag, but that should dissipate as soon as the sim has its next reset. For gpu based lag... crtl+shift+1 is useful, the 'rotate till your fps tanks' method is sound, but also... crtl+alt+t to toggle invisi-squint on, if when you spin around, your field of view is a sea of foggy red... alpha blend LAG city, the redder and foggier it is, the worse it will lag. Classic culprits are: old trees, new trees by old tree makers, old grass, new grass by old grass makers, trees, grass, shadow prims, buildings with alpha blend 'window' wall textures. Physics Lag... Do not have any phisical prims that you do not absolutely need, if you must have a phiscal prim that's scripted to move (say a patroling shark in your lake) make sure it is not confined, every time your wandering physical prim thing bumbs into a wall or obstruction, physics calulations are performed, the more often it happens the higher the physics time for the sim, and the less script time there is, and menus on things stop working. Sims try to keep the frame time to around 22/23 ms, and will dynamically rebalance script time downwards to manage this if agent time or physics time is too high. It's also worth mentioning that you should never ever use those horrible 'persistent temp rezzer' things, that rerez temporary copies of the same item over and over every 30 seconds, I've seen a sim where some idiot had 30 odd 'fireflies' rezzed this way at the same time, every 30 seconds the whole sim would lurch as they all derezzed, and rerezzed, the sim fps and physics fps for the sim took a 60% hit for about a 1/10 of a second every 30 seconds like a damn heartbeat. If you have region/estate rights for the sim, turn off pathfinding, unless you are planning to have pathfinding scripted prim critters roaming about, as pathfinding on sims where the linkset info has not been 'optimised' causes what the LL page on pathfinding refered to as 'performance degredation'. If you don't use it turn it off and save your self a pile of lag.
  8. Two points occur to me. 1) TMP - Rumour in the fanatical shopping circles is TMP's dev team died, no updates ever, move along nothing to see here... 2) Bento Madness has struck with a vengeance, the day bento went 'live' there were 64 pages of 'bento' stuff in the MP ranging from overpriced experimental heads down to prim liprings that had been set to auto wear on the new 'bento' jaw attachment point that making them 'worth#' 100% more than the identical version worn on the chin attachment point. Wait on Bento... prices will come down, and someday the heads might do half the things their vendors claim they do now. As for the TMP... if you can afford a Bento-Head, a better investment might be a Better-Body, one that offers the same functionality as your TMP, for half the price in a more user friendly manner, AND which has a much wider range of skins makeups, tattoos clothes and shoes available for it. Standard Mesh Body rule of Thumb for a better SLife... NEVER buy TMP.
  9. Ermmmm... Yeah, Bento has nothing to do with prims you have rezzed, at all, in any way. This sounds more like either some glitch in hardware/firmware on your end, say a glitchy new driver for your gfx card, or a defective viewer install, Try doing a clean install of whatever viewer you are using, unless it's singularity, in which case, install a new viewer.

    White screen

It's hard to diagnose withoput some more info, such as how long this has been happening, what you changed about your system or viewer setup just before it happened etc... But, off the top of my head, from your screen grab, two possibilities suggest themselves, neither is guaranteed to be correct but... 1) I see 'combat' huds, is the combat system you are using an RVLa enabled one, as RLVa has been used in some combat systems to blank a fighters screen to simulate effects of injuries from other fighters. 2) The User Interfce disp[lays correctly, and other residents name and group tags also, but everything else is wiped out, have you been experimenting with 'windlight' settings, extreme values for the sliders in custom windlight/environment can seriously mess up your world view. Try pressing crlt+shift+Y to select standard SL midday windlight settings. 3) Try logging in with a different viewer and see if that works ok, if it does, then you KNOW that it's not a hardware or driver issue and don't need to post your pc specifications! :catwink:
  11. Truthfully, there's no standard for 'wages' in SL, a lot depends on what the job is, who it's for, how generous they are, and how gullible the worker is, all influenced by what peoples perceptions of the current state of the SL economy is. If you go play 'crystal scavanger' in the Linden Realms, and you use the right strategy, you can make 50 ls an hour, running around constantly with no talking at all. If you go to some commercially run 'social areas', you might make 5 ls an hour saying "Hi noobguy4987345734 resident" (yeah you invested 49 ls in a hosting hud) to a run-b4-rezzer who scrambles past bent over at the waist, runs through a wall he cant see yet and poofs with no reply. If you get a store model job you might make 20-25 an hour and get some free clothes, or you might make nothing and hust get a free outfit every month. Greeter/Guide/Mentor jobs tend to be especially badly paid, as apparently helping people is not regarded as work needing to be done or is regarded as "something responsible socially minded people will do for free, so i dont have to pay them to do it on my land for my customers" Truthfully, if you hate the idea of holding down the up cursor key, and stearing with the mouse in mouselook for 2 hours at a time, ask for 25 ls an hour, if you dont mind mouselook/steer autorun, play the realms for 50 an hour. You want more than that, you have to emote sexy on a stripper dance pole in a hot avatar...
  12. That's why i said 'advertised as', it's Marketing sith speak, but it's used for regions where said marketing sith will allow you top open a club... EDIT: Being aware that a lot of "SL Definitive knowledge" is actually, fact free obsolete data from unmaintained knowledgebases and old old community posts... I did a web search for server classes, and the results were interesting. An official LL Marketing sith post from 2009, claiming class no longer exusts, but then pointing out in the body of the text that there ARE different levels of server hardware and that in 2009, the newer faster hardware tended to get alloccated to new regions, leaving old regions running on old creaky hardware, and that LL were going to 'try' to share the new toys out more fairly. I also found THIS thread https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion/Be-aware-of-landlords-claiming-their-class-7-8-regions-and-who/td-p/1985621 where the OP quotes a conversation he had with a member of the linden clan in a support chat in 2013 who fobbed him off with a link to the 2009 blog post, and a claim that 'users cannot see what class of server they are on'. Further down the thread, other people point out that there are/were ways to check server class, and points out that class 8 servers did exist. Result seems to be that yes there are class 8 servers, but finding out if you are on one is tricky, and it could easily change, or not... randomly, subject to the will of the Dark Gods of the Grid. Meanwhile, if you want to find a popular brand of Danish beer, you still search for "Probably the best lager in the world" even though the best lager in the world is made in china to a 140 yr old recipe in a 140 yr old german factory shipped to china as a kit, to supply beer to german troops 140 yrs ago... Go figure...

Need a large bit of land over 4096sq You do not want a residential parcel... As soon as your landlord finds out from your agrieved neighbors that you have 20 odd people there every night, and a tip jar so they can help with the rent, said landlord will call you a club owner, and turf you off the residential plot with no refunds... You want an 1/8 sim or 1/4 sim parcel, on what is sometimes advertised as a "class 8 server rated for commercial use" by land companies, A 1/4 sim from one of the large rental firms on a private region (definately NOT mainland) can be had for 4500 L$ a week and up, commercial rating for your 'club' will probably cost more, shopping around the large renters you should be able to find a plot between 5000 and 6500 a week. Skybox vs ground is largely irrelevant. Try one of the various flavours of Cheung Estates maybe, in fact one of them had an advert for 1/4 parcels on the forums here recently.

  15. Don't eat it... Babies are greasy, bland tasting and high in cholesterol...
  16. Bare Rose did some suits for females, slightly styalised naval officers dress uniforms (think dinner at the captains table) tux's, even an edwardian frock coat with embroidered waistcoat and wing collar shirt. Only problem is they tend to come in one size doesnt quite fit all, and are no copy, but typically the outfits will cover you from the neck down, and are only 190 or so. Go check their inworld store and browse the selection on the "Wall of mesh outfits" thats about 10 vendors high and seems to stretch forever (at least it feels like that when you are camming it...).
  17. First thing that occurs to me is that you are pinging the visitors on a unique channel... except you are not, you used llGetOwner, which will get YOUR uuid, not theirs, so it always uses a channel unique to YOU, meaning anyone with a hud within range will respond, and using regionsay that means everybody who has used the dispenser in the whole damn region.. You'd be better off using 1 channel for all pings but using llRegionSayTo and directing that at the uuid of the agent that touched or collided with the dispenser

That's exactly what it is of course but the question is, could it have bee done much better? There is something fundamentally wrong with how mesh was implemented in Second Life. It's a classic example of copy-and-paste programming and as this article says, it must be a nightmare for the current LL programmers. It may well be that the disease is incurable by now and that the jellybaby project was the best way to reduce the damage at least a little bit. I suspect from a new user to sl pr perspective, that the autoblob feature was a damn mistake... You log into this new world with a default viewer and go exploring and suddenly you see that it doesn't look like the 'kewl' pictures on the adverts, loads of people are yucky primary colored blobbies and it's EWWWWWW. Exit SL, uninstall, go play Tera Online where everyone is beautiful, and you have killer special moves with Megatastic Weapons of Ultimate Anime Awesomsauce! And... For only *cough* dollars in their store you can unlock the ability to battle evil in a raunchy cosplay french maid outfit in gleaming digital latex... Makes SL look a little lame to many of the people we hoped would come and keep us company huh? There are threads on the forum now with people paniking about their complexity settings or that they get endless annoying popups telling them that some fossilized permanoob relic in a 13 yr old avi can't see them. Where are the popups telling people that the parcel they are on has a damn awful build with a renderweight of 5 million and suggesting they tell the parcel owner to attend remedial anti-gpu-lag building classes? Why spend time and effort and money on SL getting a nice avatar, if nobody can see it, because of a poorly concieved, poorly implemented, and poorly explained system Asshat.Linden wrote: "Welcome to SecondLife, our adverts were a LIE! For your convienience we have auto-downgraded you to FUGLY! Have a nice SLife! Don't forget to spend on things you must not use! "
  19. Personally I blame CHUI for much of that (but not all by any means), and beforfe you ask CHUI is CHat User Interface, a thing LL brought in to improve chat in SL some while back. Before CHUI, local chat where you say hello and get ignored was in one box over <------here and IM's were in another box over ----> there. Then LL fubared it completely with CHUI, local chat became just another IM tab in the IM box, sooooo if you are 'roleplaying' in an im box, you cant see whats said in local box and ignore it. Oh there are 'chat toasts' where chat appears in little floaty boxes on the screen that float up and vanish but, many sl residents cant read those fastenough to keep up so, they ignore them. I see a distressing number of profiles that say "I don't bother with local chat too hard to follow, IM me if you want to talk" Roleplayers can also be a problem, many will simply ignore you if you are not part ofg their RP, don't have a 'kewl' charachter bio in your profile or are not wearing the official RP group tag they prefer. As for things to do, the Blake sea is worth a visit, go to Dex and visit the Tradewinds Yacht Club, collect a free sail boat and explore several hundred sims of interconnected waterways, find the skeleton of the Leviathan (good photo opportunity there), or dive overboard in the Franchi Deeps and explore the mer carnival, or port over to Babbage and explore their world of odd (don't forget to collect your free can of wiggy fish and a case of sootsticks). Even window shopping in SL can be an experience, check out Curio Obscura, probably one of the weirdest stores in SL, or take part in a Hunt ( you can see a lot of people doing hunts in SL). And... You're not a real SL Resident untill you've found the SL Logo handprint on the map, teleported there and stood in it...
  20. Kemono are mainly anime furry, there are human options but there are probably better options, kemono is well supported with mod makers like Ambix having lots of gear for them but again mostly for furry kemonos. You could also check Avatar 2.0 by the same maker as the kemono, or the riku's, which are female anime cyborg avatars, and quite popular. You can also see people wearing an anime head with a 'standard non anime' mesh body, such as a Maitreya or Slink (personally I'd say the EVE Slim would be a better fit to anime proportions but its customers choice).
  21. Hmmm pretty sure there was a time when you just bought ls from the labs... perhaps when they took over the lindex, Or maybe that only works when buying on the MP. However the main point still stands... offer a worse deal, get undercut, markets 101, claiming that everyone should screw their deals up to comply with your wish to run a price fixing cartel for your own amateur business tycoon wannabe trading, like the OP, is... mad.
  22. Markets 101 - To convince people to buy your stuff, you have to make it worth their while. If I wanted to BUY linden, i could click a button in my viewer and buy from the Printers, LL at 250, or i can mess about visiting the exchange to buy from a private seller, which is more trouble. To compensate me for my trouble, you have to offer me a better price, so your hopes of driving the market to 250 are doomed. Your competitors offer their linden for sale cheaper than you because they want to sell before you. some of them are LARGE SL companies that took out RL bankloans to pay setup costs for private sims, they have billsa to pay and are prepared to undercut your unrealistic pric e for a fast sale on their massive stock of lindens. That you do not understand this convinces me you should get out of the market.
  23. Actually, I suspect SL will see some technical improv ements BECAUSE of Project Stupid... They come up with some idea for Stupid, so they code it into SL so they can use us as live crash test dummies and work out all the failings BEFORE adding it to Stupid, so the reviews wont be bad. Bad reviews of the feature in SL won't count because... SL is obsolete abd dying, right? Forgive me for hoping improvements to SL would be becausze they wanted SL to be better, rather than cynically using us as test subjects so the rich tech illiterate VR cyber geeks can have fewer problems on launch day in you-know-where...
  24. Adding specular shine via an applier basicallty requires that the mesh accepts 'omega advanced' rather than standard older omega, or uses Maitreya for example. I know that the 'Sug@**bleep**' mesh breasts DO support the shine. As for heads, only really effective way to sine the face is use an omega advanced compatible mesh head

When I came to SL, i used to hang out at [censored] and nobody there used voice, something i was quite glad about after listening to voice at a safehub on my first day. One day an individual arrived, called 'suckmypixels'. The staff member on duty and several regulars greeted him normally in local chat "Hello Suck" He just stood there, so eventually we carried on our chatting amongst our selves untill the only regular who did use voice arrived, some 10 mins later, and informed us that Suck was screaming into his mic demanding to know why we wern't talking to him and why we called him Suck, when he had voicespammed at us that his name was [whatever]. When the staff member explained that most of us did not use voic e spam, he screamed that we were a bunch of "dried up ****s", at which point he was ejected from the sim by the staff domme, who he than apparently im'd complainingthat she was 'abusin ur powa of boot'.
