  1. I heard that he read one of your posts and is still recovering in hospital with extensive eye damage.
  2. If you want to cut to the chase because long winded answers are too hard: 1. hippies smell bad 2. hippies suck at paying for things So these communes usually have a short lifespan.
  3. greek Wingtips wrote: Its seems without doubt that nobody would think live chat helps, most the time in the forum its about defending the suggestions oh well nothing new Maybe that's because the forum is overrun with incredibly stupid users testing the patience of everybody for the 400th time. You can usually identify them as they start sentences with "With todays technology" or "With today advancements in Web based sites why on earth " (insert nonsensical idea)
  4. Rhonda Huntress wrote: So ... your are at a club when someone who is the same gender makes a casual flirt with you. Do you: Get angry? Feel a little ill at this question alone? Derender and ignore? Accept it as a complement but turn them down. Blush and act coy? Flirt back? Make with the pixle-bumping in IM? I have a secondlife account, therefore I am totally familiar with guys people of the same sex, pretending to be of another sex, hitting on me.
  5. There are a few genuine ones but mostly around here they are outnumbered by wannabe SL activists with a distant connection, a welfare hookup and a book full of blowhard catchphrases.

A dumbass 5 years old is a dumbass now. #2 Try to be vaguely intelligent. This is going to immediately set you apart from the rest. If your only skill is clicking on a poseball then you're competing with every 400lb trailer park momma within internet distance

Have you any understanding of the sheer number of "researchers" who visit here? Anyway, provide RL contact details and I'm happy to help. I find that's the dealbreaker for most of these "SL researchers". Hey who would have guessed?

  13. Ilithios Liebknecht wrote: I suspect that certain people have a vested interest in convincing themselves that SL is not a game because they don't want to feel like they have dedicated so much of their lives to something that is "only" a game. Thread winner.
  14. Pussycat Catnap wrote: In quite a few places they will seem to manage to completely ignore me past their greeter script - even if they are chatting with other whiter people, even AFK ones. On a black avatar I will either get ignored as if a ghost, or 'reacted to' in ways that are either hostile of fetish-based. (Whereas in real life I have mulato-hispanic features and treated as if a ghost, having people literally plow me over at times when I'm in a line or standing somewhere, or I get treated as if I was "the help" and not an engineer with three times their education...) Quite a few "good managers" and "good hosts" will do these things. And if they're doing it to me, how many others are they also driving away by doing that? I've seen this so often for so long that I generally came to believe over the years that 'manager' was something of a fake-job in SL to just sit AFK with a chat-bot script because that is how I tended to get treated. Having only had a few exceptions over the years. Those exceptions are enlightened enough to check instinctive biases and engage with me if I respond to their greeting or join in the conversation. Of course they've no duty to engage with me if I was ignoring them - even though they're often doing that with others who are ignoring them... But the good ones DO engage when I engage. If you see me or some other 'person who's look is like that of a marginalized community' repeatedly coming back to your place - then it probably means you have a good manager that is actually doing proactive things to make guests feel welcome. Because if not - we are always the first people to get 'cut' from the 'attention list'. And if you're asking this question because you're about to become a manager of some venue in SL - think hard about my opinion here, and make sure to check yourself against it, often. If your gut reaction is to say you and no one you know would ever be like that, then I can say with near certainty that you and nearly everyone you know IS like that - because the only people who do not fall prey to instinctive biases are the people who are introspective enough to be aware of them and fess up to them. (You might think this comment has nothing to do with what a manager does. I would say that it has everything to do with what a manager should be doing: making everyone who lands on that landing point feel part of the community they are trying to build.) Is it possible for you to post just once without celebrating your amazon-ness, black-ness, mulatto-ness, hispanic-ness or any other nesses? Dude, nobody cares.

Two times now I saw a bright light, and I crashed big time. My laptop also. How is that possible? And if I can find out who did that and derender him or her, does that help?? Thank you for any answers Run away. All you will find there is trouble.

Also saw someone else there who claimed the home was hers since a year. More crapposting huh beebs.

  20. xBamfo wrote: Hello. I have looked at the wagering policy on the Second Life wiki and am a bit unclear on whether an idea I had would qualify as a violation of it. I would like to run a sort of lottery. It would work like a raffle drawing each time. People would buy tickets, the money gathered would go into a pot, and then whoever's ticket is drawn gains the pot. Would this go against Second Life's policies? Or would I be allowed to run something like this? A good rule of thumb is that if you thought of something, hundreds of others have already had the same thought. If a scene is totally overpopulated like breedables, it's probably approved by LL. If an idea involves something like gambling and you see a strange lack of competition, don't mistake that for an opportunity. There is a reason for it.
