  1. You can call it whatever you want to but it's still will be considered illegal under the way the law is. People know that they are getting a dress or an animal or whatever but they don't know what color or what kind and that is what is making it illegal. So call it a Happy Fun Ball but if it acts like a lootbox/gacha it can't be allowed
  2. Because I look good to me....which may sound really vain but I can't control if someone is using the lowest settings or the highest ones, what kind of light they are using, if they have attached lights or particles derendered, if they have local lights turned on or off or any number of things that effect how I may look to someone. I knew several people who didn't upgrade to BOM compatible viewers until they absolutely had to (same thing with mesh). Those things I have no control over and if I try to make sure that my avatar looks good in every possible combination then I'd never get dressed and go out in SL. I control what I can control--which is how I look on my viewer.
  3. It may not be logical but it does happen. It's the same way that customers are abusive to retail or wait staff in the real world. I honestly could never be a CSR, chat mod, or a store owner and have to deal with all the stuff that I see them have to deal with. Of course I work in retail so I get to see a lot of that up close and in person on a daily basis (although I'm not working at a register right now) but I've seen customers verbally abuse employees/managers for not taking back *used underwear* . And we regularly deal with customers who get pissed they can't use a coupon on items that are already 70% off. One memorable customer got mad and threatened to report us for false advertising because the sale sign was wrong and the item she was buying was actually CHEAPER than what was advertised and refused to buy the item. so people will complain about anything. every time there is a sale anywhere people complain. Every time a popular event opens and people can't get in the first day they complain.
  4. There was life before gachas, there will be life after. I mean, maybe some creators will leave, but there are creators who didn't make the jump to mesh, there are those who left for other reasons, it's a cycle of things.
  5. They can sell it as a regular item, some stores have already said they are going to do that.
  6. A lot of the groups don't have any kind of moderation anymore. the people who created the groups have left them and there's no one to enforce the rules so people will add them to any group to get views. The limits can help some (30 groups/60 groups per picture depending on account type) but not enough.
  7. There are a lot of groups that aren't moderated at all for whatever reason and you can tell because despite having a theme or even rules the pictures are pretty much all over the place. It also depends on what kinds of things you are looking for -there are general fashion groups, those focused around fantasy or certain styles, home and garden, landscaping, those focusing on destinations. If there is someone whose pictures I really like I tend to look at what groups they have added the pictures to and check them out.
  8. I haven't' stuck the cache file into my antivirus exclusion list. This is the same monitor resolution I've had and the typical draw distance I use and I've only recently had issues with the viewer not responding.
  9. This all the information when I logged in. I haven't had a problem with the viewer this morning Firestorm 6.4.13 (63251) Mar 2 2021 18:51:46 (64bit / SSE2) (Firestorm-Releasex64) with Havok support Release Notes You are at 80.0, 16.0, 21.1 in Papercut located at simhost-0f7c4f3dcc3e44a0e.agni SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Papercut/80/16/21 (global coordinates 287,824.0, 279,056.0, 21.1) Second Life Server 2021-07-16.561609 Release Notes CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz (2904.01 MHz) Memory: 16186 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 19043.1110) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1650/PCIe/SSE2 Graphics Card Memory: 4096 MB Windows Graphics Driver Version: 27.21.14.6137 OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 461.37 RestrainedLove API: (disabled) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.54.1 OpenSSL/1.0.2l zlib/1.2.8 nghttp2/1.40.0 J2C Decoder Version: KDU v8.0.6 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Studio 2.01.08 Dullahan: 1.8.0.202007261348 CEF: 81.3.10+gb223419+chromium-81.0.4044.138 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 LibVLC Version: 2.2.8 Voice Server Version: Vivox 4.10.0000.32327 Settings mode: Firestorm Viewer Skin: Firestorm (High Contrast) Window size: 1920x1017 px Font Used: Deja Vu (96 dpi) Font Size Adjustment: 0 pt UI Scaling: 1 Draw distance: 128 m Bandwidth: 1150 kbit/s LOD factor: 2 Render quality: High (5/7) Advanced Lighting Model: Yes Texture memory: Dynamic (512 MB min / 10% Cache / 10% VRAM) VFS (cache) creation time (UTC): 2020-9-30T22:39:34 Built with MSVC version 1916 Packets Lost: 1/4,357 (0.0%) July 24 2021 05:22:43 SLT
  10. I'll do that tomorrow when I log in again. I tried closing other programs and seeing if it made a difference but it didn't seem to be. Normally I have Chrome, SL, and sometimes Spotify going. Depends on if I've got something on Hulu or Netflix going . I thought maybe that was the issue but I kept having problems even when Chrome wasn't running.
  11. Recently I started having issues with SL not responding repeatedly when I don't seem to be doing anything differently. It happens to me on both the Official viewer and Firestorm (I don't have others downloaded so haven't tried them). It can happen when I click on a chat box, right after I log in, when I've just been standing there doing nothing, when I switch from the browser to the viewer, and various other times. This doesn't happen all the time but when it does start happening it does this over and over. Sometimes I can wait until it responds but other times I have to restart. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this to happen?
  12. playing around with the Lelutka Lilly head and a new shape/skin for it.. not sure if it's "me"
  13. Also since you haven't mentioned a particular style beyond modest.. but places like M.birdie, Amitomo, Cheezu, or dami may have stuff as well, they mostly do gachas but you can find demos ( you really want to demo things) . They do more casual styles and may seem to young but a lot of that is styling. When I'm looking for a particular style and have multiple stores to check out I really prefer in world over MP. I can go to the store, cam around , see what they have laid out rather than having to scroll through the mulitple color options or the various pages and then see if there are gifts and things like that. And see if there are similar stores near by, if there are other people there check out how they are dressed, grab demos a lot quicker
  14. Addams , Pixicat, Belle Epoque , Salt & Pepper has some pieces,
  15. my suggestion is to check out flickr or SL blogs and find clothes that you like there but some places you may want to check out are: The Secret Store, Giz Soren, Fashionably Dead, Tres Blah, Neve. I'm not sure key words because a lot of times people will use various key words even though they don't have anything to do with a listing so that can be hard. And if you are in world and see someone dressed the way you want to look check out their profile for groups ,or ask where they got something etc.
  16. After I posted this I forgot-- that graphic settings , things like materials, etc effect how the picture looks. Also the viewer can play a roll. Black Dragon viewer is great for taking pictures because it's made for photography and machinima and you can move the camera in ways you can't in other viewers. However, you need a really good computer to run it. People also make tutorials and post them on youtube so that is a good way to learn, if you can learn well like that. There are also huds you can buy that help with posing so you can get much more detailed specific poses or facial expressions. One thing that helped me was trying to take the best pictures I could in SL without any kind of editing. It helped me to compose a shot and then take it with different windlight (EEP now) settings, different graphic levels, playing around with the in world filters or doing the opposite and finding a subject, getting all of that set to one thing and then taking pictures at different angles or distances and see what happens that way. And then I can go back and pull up those pictures and practice editing them ... actually I need to get them all from my old computer on to my new one so I can play around with them.
  17. I'm not sure what ads , if you just mean product ads... some of those aren't done in SL but are done with DAZ or something like that, so they aren't SL avatars. I dont konw if they show up on MP but I've seen those on flickr and in world ads. I think a lot of people use photoshop or GIMP. My skills are pretty basic and I use pixlr it has 2 versions and a lot of stuff is free with it before you end up with the paid version. I've used the paid version before and it's nice but I wasn't making a lot of pictures for awhile and so I went back to free.
  18. I like to shop in world, I never know what I'm going to find and it's often easier to see everything camming around than scrolling through MP. Especially since each color has to be listed separately (please fix this!!!) and then there are the other stores around that I might not have seen. I miss when there were really cool shopping sims like Starlustland that was awesome. I do shop at events but if I like something at an event I'll go and check out the store and buy things there. Also when I'm out shopping I will check out what other people are wearing or look at their picks and find places to shop from there. If I'm looking for something particular I use the Marktplace but .. it's always a fight and the filtering isn't as precise as I would like
  19. I'm not tired of it, I like seeing what people put together and get inspiration. Also I happen to be one of those people who posts their amateur photos on Flickr groups (as I'm not a blogger or a model for any brand). It's good for business for creators to let people share their photos in their Flickr groups. I know I use Flickr to get inspiration and find new products and a lot of times I may see a vendor photo and think an item is ok but then later see how someone else has styled it and decide I HAVE to have it so I'll buy based on that (I know I'm not the only one who does this). Photography is a big hobby in SL and there are people of varying abilities and talents. A lot of store owners either open up their group or have groups for people to post because people like sharing what they are wearing and also creators like to see people wearing their stuff and seeing how people put things together. There are some things you can do: join/follow Flickr groups where the brand just posts vendor pictures join/follow groups of certain themes that are heavily moderate/invite only to keep within a certain quality or style follow specific people you like who do higher quality photos start your own Flickr group and invite people to add pictures that you like and keep it invite only or heavily moderate it to keep out pictures you don't. You can also check out stores official blogs or follow their inworld groups to get only the vendor pictures.
