  1. That may be true. But I'm also finding lots of TED videos that are just cartoons of math or logic problems.
  2. I agree. They should take everyone into consideration. Still, that's cool that your company has special speakers come in. That's the next best thing to going to school and getting to go on a field trip! ...What kind of cool company brings in speakers aside from maybe Google?
  3. And yus, I would like to be one of the ppl who read more than watches or listens... but I have not had much success with books... I cannot find a classic that has defined me. I note that "Of Mice And Men" successfully made me cry. But I found things like "Wicked," the musical, to be better than the book (the book was too political). "The Ice Storm" movie was better than the book (although, I can appreciate why the book ended that way). And "Orange Is The New Black" on Netflix was far more captivating than the actual book ...It seems the list goes on and on. It is yet to be determined, tho, if "Eat, Pray, Love" is better on screen... I think they only aired it once on TV and I was too tired to make it thru the whole thing, but I was quite fond of the book. And one day I would like to read "A Clockwork Orange," because I really loved the movie (until one of my colleagues never managed to return it to me, LOL, I suppose because they loved it as well!!!). However, I also feel that as long as you can find a book in a library, you should be able to read it for free online. That is how I ended up liking "The Alchemist," but then was also disappointed by "Lolita." SooOoOOooo.... That's why these >20 minute videos are so easy to digest. They're easily attained, easy to do while multitasking with 2 screens, and you can always click on another one if you don't like the first (but that has seemed to yet happen).
  4. Well... The coding says this, when you copy the link address: "blob:https://embed.ted.com/16edebd0-4261-4204-8ec9-96666d8ab98d" ...Which doesn't list anything from YouTube, but it does for TED. I know how to copy/paste code from YouTube, that's easy. I will play around with it and figure it out.
  5. Interesting! ...I must admit, I do not know how to encode video to the forums as you do. I wanted to check TED for this video to see when it had come out, but the address did not take me to a successful place. So now... I am watching all of Hans Rosling's videos and find them all very wonderful! ...Do you have this book recommended by Gates? Have you read it? ...I wish that a book like that would be some type of required reading in schools, to promote positivity and strength together, in the world, as a whole.
  6. Wow! *makes reference to a vision board* Thank you for teaching me that there's an actual name for it! Reticular activating system. How cool is that?
  7. Just curious... I'm interested to know what is going on in SL, with them involved. ...Do they attend meetings or something, where they discuss things, and the public are allowed to go and observe? Or is it much more of a secret "behind the scenes" type thing? I have seen them at shows sometimes, which has been really neat. And I totally understand they are just like us, who want to sometimes just relax and have fun. I have also seen them kindly doing behind-the-scenes stuff to land, and didn't bother them. But I'm more curious to see them in a "business" or "professional" like environment (where there might be a Q&A or anything of the such?). And am curious which Lindens I might run into at those types of things. ...I don't have a bunch of questions or anything that I need to bombard them with. I'm just curious, and it's more like an "I really like this place, I'd like to learn from them" kind of thing... Because you tend to emulate role models of things you have a lot of passion & respect for. That's all. Thanks! 😁
  8. Hello! So, I saw Strawberry Singh's latest New Year's blog post, from Avatar Social Networkers' Website, and was intrigued about TED . I have seriously spent ALL day watching these videos, and have just been VERY excited! Even found an old video on there about SL from Philip Rosedale, from 2008! I've been trying to share some of my favorite videos with others (like friends and groups)... but they're just not too receptive. ...Is this because TED is old news? In the age of "sacrificing TV to pay for the internet" (which is what I'm finding happening a lot these days... or ROKU, Firestick, Netflix, or whatever-have-you)... I'm actually very glad I stumbled upon something like this, and am surprised a lot of others aren't nearly as excited. Where are all the like-minds that would like to talk about their favorite videos, or videos that should be made, etc., etc.? SL think tank! I think that would be great! Especially for a world of creative ppl! What say you? 😁
  9. Hey! Yes, thank you! I have actually been checking those forums since the very beginning of this post. A couple of my potential picks are there from them. I did just put something in the land wanted section too. No idea if that will work. I'm actually paranoid now that the forum gods will get pissed at me and ban me for posting this everywhere.
  10. That's true. Thank you. I'm actually kind of surprised. More responses here than in places that make more sense. Weird. I have NEVER checked the answers part of the forums for anything before. I didn't actually think anyone else did either.
  11. MmMmm. It would be nice to be taken seriously, but I see we've hit the point of no answers, so the making fun of part has ensued. Nice.
  12. Yup. That's definitely a way to get it accomplished. However, I can barely afford the sim I currently own, plus all the RL expenses I have, LOL. A couple hundred dollars for a pick, just isn't a viable option for me right now. ...So I was thinking that if someone else was just happening to go ahead and do this anyway with their sim... I'd like to maybe, you know, take advantage of that opportunity, if I could. Just an idea - In return, I would be willing to make a special link to my blog about you and/or your place and how you helped me out with this odd request, if you would like. ...So that way, if it's a case of something like you needing to leave SL, but wanting your awesomeness to be immortalized, I promise I will be good and tell ppl about you.
  13. Hi! ...Okay, I have tried this post in the regular wanted section and somehow it got moved to the answer section... but I didn't see this particular part of the forum until now... and I'm thinking my request might work better here... ? If you are thinking of abandoning your sim, or know anyone who is, pretty please let me know. My goal is to add a place in my profile picks section, that will eventually turn into a "Loading..."? I promise I am not trying to be rude or anything... I just think it's cool to have that "Loading..." feature in the picks because, if I really like a place... I put it in my blog, and then I put links in that "Loading..." profile spot to the different blog posts about MANY different places - not just 10! I put all the proper pix and links and descriptions + more stuff like Destination Guide stuff in the blog posts (the picks section is limited on how many characters you can put in there, a blog isn't). And truth be told, the "Loading..." thing is personal... it makes me feel like I present myself as well traveled and, well, old, like my account is ...Because the current 2 "Loading..." spots I have in there now are actually from places I loved back in the day, that are unfortunately gone now. I realize half the fun is finding these places by myself... but I was just curious if anyone else was on the same wavelength and would be willing to help me out. Just an idea - In return, I would be willing to make a special link to my blog about you and/or your place and how you helped me out with this odd request, if you would like. ...So that way, if it's a case of something like you needing to leave SL, but wanting your awesomeness to be immortalized, I promise I will be good and tell ppl about you. ...And BTW, for the record, one of my current "Loading..." places was this awesome Africa place where you could see animals and play drums. I had no idea that it was even possible for a place to disappear from SL back then, otherwise, I would have more information to share with you now. Thank you!
  14. Thank you, Lindal! ♥ Great idea, Alyona! I may resort to that if I get desperate... but right now, the "game" for me is to find this unachievable thing I set out to get. ...Now it's kind of like, because it's so hard to do (apparently)... I must do it! It's becoming a great white whale, LOL
  15. Oh, interesting... how do you file a feature request?
  16. Uhm, okay, well I guess I'll get a ban out of ignorance, then. What else is new? And no, an abandoned parcel is not what I need. A sim about to be abandoned is.
  17. ...Because nobody answered it... I don't think anyone would look in the answers section to answer something... and I couldn't add a reply to it to keep it bumped up in the wanted section so it wasn't forgotten about.
