Huh, this opened my eyes to two new key pieces of information. 1. I was always under the assumption that they let locals on the same sim get first dibs on abandoned land. I would have to agree that it seems like it would be more fair to sell the land to someone directly asking for it before it hits auction. 2. While I have placed a few bids of my own, I agree that we should be able to add onto our previous bid at any point in time. I've run into the scenario where I bid on a piece of land, sleep on the idea overnight, and then wakeup to realize I want it more than I originally thought but am barred from increasing what I was willing to pay.

It's not just you. I have been having issues for awhile too. Good to know what the root cause is though, as pointed out by others.

I pay no mind to it since I get enough reminders from other companies to vote, but I can see how it would be overbearing and annoying to others.

Thank you for sharing this tip! I have been wondering about it for the longest time how people were able to achieve such nice smiles.

A couple things to keep in mind when selling some land... 1. Like @Alwin Alcott mentioned, you need to be a bit patient. While it is very convenient for land to sell quickly, it is not always the case. 2. A helpful tip is to take time to name the parcel with a simple description of the land, and describe it in the About Land tab that way when people are land shopping it will catch their attention. 3. If your piece of land doesn't have the best view, or odd terrain, sometimes it can help to setup some very simple landscaping to help level it out/clean up the view that way the buyer can get a glimpse of potential. I see you have sold this parcel, but keep these tips in mind for next time.

I caught a very lovely waterside Vic on Whither yesterday. Although I am quite addicted to house hopping and don't have any alts so this one will surely be released back into the pool soon

I don't think you should worry about it. It is probably as something as simple as they like your designs/style but are careful about spending maybe?
