  1. I updated my veiwer to version 3.7.25 (299021) and noticed quite a few bugs. One of which is the "no link" one. So, I searched the forums and found a post that recommends downloading this release: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.7.25.299147 but when I did, and tried to open SL, I got a message saying that I had to downlaod the mandatory update, which was the one mentioned above. So, basically I can't download the release notes that fixes the bugs I have. Any suggestions? Thank you
  2. How were you trying to remove them? Did you go into inventory > open the current outfit (worn items) folder then right click the actual items located in that folder in your inventory and choose detach/remove for each item you want to remove? That should work For mesh clothing, you can't click directly on your avatar to remove them.
  3. Here are some pointers that will help you avoid this problem with shoes that are not slink: 1. always ADD instead of WEAR 2. If you decide to change the default attachment point by choosing ATTACH and then the body part, you will mess things up. So, don't do that. Just ADD the item you want to wear and then remove/detach any items you no longer want to wear. 3. ADD the shoe base if the shoes come with one (the icon looks like the side of a red sneaker) 4. ADD any alpha layer that comes with the shoes (the icon looks like a white shirt with a black grid) 5. ADD the actual shoes left and right (the icon looks like orange boxes) that should do it.
  4. You are probably wearing those new mesh avatars. So first remove it: Here is how: 1. open current outfit (worn) folder and right click on each item and detach (take off) everything except blank skin, blank hair, blank eyes, and the shape. 2. Search in your inventory for “bald”, you should find something that says boy next door bald or something similar (the icon looks like a profile of a face), and right click and wear that (it gets rid of that weird helmet hair incase you are wearing that). 3. Now you can put on any regular skin, eyes, hair, clothes etc… You can also find yourself another modifiable shape that you like and wear that also. You can then modify/edit it and see the changes you make, then save. You can find hair, skins, eyes, clothes, shoes etc... at many freebie places. There are some already in your inventory but you may want to find ones that suit your taste more by shopping around. Do a search inworld for stores or go to Marketplace.
  5. this one looks really nice: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Aeros-Avatar-Onyx-demo/4526836

    Feet

    1. Go to a place that you can change in private unless you don't mind being stark naked in a public place LOL 2. open your inventory, then open your current outfit folder (worn items) and take off everything except bald base (looks like a profile of a face), eyes, shape, and skin. (you can't take those parts off, only replace them) (right click each item and detach/take off) 3. Now you should have everything off and you will see your feet. You can then start from the basic clasic avatar and wear/add anything you want to create any look you want. If things that can be detached are not coming off, then relog

Here is one way you can get rid of that mesh default avatar: 1. open current outfit (worn) folder and right click on each item and detach (take off) everything except blank skin, blank hair, blank eyes, and the shape. 2. Search in your inventory for “bald”, you should find something that says boy next door bald or something similar (the icon looks like a profile of a face), and right click and wear that (it gets rid of that weird helmet hair) 3. Now you can put on any regular skin, eyes, hair, clothes etc… You can also find yourself a modifiable shape that you like and wear that also.
  8. Hi SugarSprite As of today, Carrie Tatsu designs one of the best and realistic cat avatars. However, they are in an adult cat form. I have yet to see a realistic kitten avatar but maybe you can contact her. I'm not sure if those avatars can be made smaller to resemble a kitten but if you want a quality feline avatar this is where it's at right now. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Zoobys-Mesh-Black-Avatar-Cat/2688210 There are also Dinkies such as these avatars: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/8884 I have yet to see a cute realistic small kitten avatar here is SL, if there is such a thing let me know, but if not then these are your choices for now. Good luck and enjoy SL.
  9. There is a place called the Nova Theatre It's public and free to use. If you step onto the stage a stream window opens and you enter your stream URL info. It's a nice little place and may be what you were looking for. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Miramare/131/36/29
  10. You may be wearing the new mesh avatar. If you are, go into inventory and open the current outfit (worn items) folder. Remove anything that is detachable. At that point you will look like a greenish yellow plain avatar. Now you can add regular skin, clothes, hair etc.. and it will show up. You can also go to (top of viewer tab) Me>change avatar>click on classic avatar> change into one of those, then you can use whatever hair, clothes, skin, etc…
  11. I'm not an expert but this happened to my avatar and I remembered that I had used a pose animation sometime before. Apparently there was a glitch with the animation not fully stopping. So, I stopped all animations through my viewer. Look for the tab for avatar health or Me and that option is in there. Maybe that is the issue for you also. good luck also, are you using a new AO?
  12. Check out this place, they have very nice mesh clothes for men and a good price: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/157551
  13. Hey Karisa, So far your avatar is transitioning. As time goes by you will change and modify your avatar many times. Mainly because you will see other people will certain features and items that interest you and you will find many different items that are more current to SL human avatars. The most important question is > Do you like your avatar? You may like it at the moment but as time goes on, you may find new items and new looks. Then you will change and adjust. So enjoy the process and have fun :matte-motes-big-grin:
  14. I think that hair is from Spellbound but I'm not 100% sure Edit: I think I saw that style at Truth recently, so I think the OP is correct
  15. For the hair, Tukinowaguma Hair has 2 very similar hairstyles on the outlet wall http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chimera%20Island/112/144/23 I don't know the exact skin in the picture but check out the following places for similar styles to the avatar in the pic: 1. DrLife (You can buy a skin and if you join the group you can try to get a free skin from the lucky boards if you don't mind waiting) 2. Mother Goose's (You can buy skins here but they have many lucky boards and dollarbie skins also) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Turpentine/230/134/22 3. Rosy Mood http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Moloch/20/60/26
  16. She mentions the Seasons Story which is place that features creations from different designers. Kind of like a fair where you can check out various new items in the same place. I'm not sure how often they change items or how long the events lasts but you can search for the location inworld or on the slurl page. The person who posted that pic probably found the hair there.
  17. Maybe the ones featured in this video, they posted the name and a link to the inworld store in the video description:
  18. This looks similar: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Vanity-HairShizuka-DEMO/3045435 But I have to say that the hair in the pic looks very much like D!va hair and it's possible that it is not featured in her store right now. Maybe contact her to see if it is hers just in case.
  19. Mother Goose's has skins and shapes for that age range (teen). I have seen a couple of male ones there. There are also a ton of Lucky boards that offer just skins that move fast so you can probably grab the male ones on there. Update/EDIT: I went there today and they have more than a few choices for male, 3 on the lucky board, about 12 choices on the top floor for purchase, a some more on the main floor. Here is the slurl: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Turpentine/224/134/22
  20. I wondered what people meant when they said textured on both sides and now I understand. It connects with this thin/thick look that I'm referring to. That makes sense now. On the other info you supplied, I now have a better understanding of how much work goes into making quality mesh clothes. Thank you so much Theresa, I appreciate the valuable information. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  21. Hi everyone, Maybe you can clarify some things for me regarding mesh clothes. 1. With some mesh items, the "material" looks very thin while others look thicker. I thought mesh was mesh, are there different ways to create mesh clothing? 2. Some mesh breaks with movement while some does not. I'm assuming the mesh that does not break is rigged? 3. How come some skirts (same length & they move with the avatar) stretch and look distorted but others stretch and look ok? thank you for any info
  22. To change out of the mesh avatar into a classic avatar/shape: Looking at the top left part of your viewer, Change to a default "classic" avatar by choosing Me>choose an avatar>click on the Classic tab>pick one of those avatars If that is not working then (sometimes nothing will show up in those tabs): open your inventory>open Current outfit folder Right click on the following and DETACH each: 1. all the alphas (anything labeled alpha with a name associated with it such as Brandon-alpha-boots) 2. the invisible avatar 3. the body (it has an orange box icon-this is not the same as the shape) exp. Brandon - body 3. All the clothes, shoes, hair associated with a specific name. The mesh avatars have all been assigned names such as Lucy, Brandon, Julian etc... so you will see for example "Julian - hair" "Brandon-hair" "Lucy - shoes" You have now removed the mesh avatar components: Now, you will be wearing only a default classic shape (male or female base shape), a blank skin, eyes, blank hair (bald base). Your avatar will look odd but you will basically have a blank canvas of a classic shape to modify with the sliders and eventually add new skins, clothes, etc... You can then go back into your inventory, scroll down to: Library folder (in green) >clothing folder>intital outfits folder open anthing that does not say "mesh" and you can right click and wear any of those items that are specifically for classic shapes (for example: Male student outfit) or you can shop around in freebie places to find skins, hair, shoes, etc... Hope this helps
  23. >>>If you are using a classic avatar shape and the clothes are mesh: 1. Make sure you are wearing the alpha layer (ADD the alpha, do not WEAR incase you need to apply more than one alpha on your avatar) 2. make sure you pick the ONE size closest to the size of avatar 3. If you still see bits of your body showing through, then you need to modify your shape. Usually it's breast, belly, saddle bags, butt, & body fat if you have a female avatar depending on which is showing through. You said chest, so adjust the size, bouyancy, etc...of your breasts If you are wearing a male avatar, then adjust pecs There are standard size charts that tell you the numbers of the sliders when you edit but you may still have to make adjustments anyway. >>>If you are using a mesh avatar, some mesh clothes won't fit at all. It's mesh over mesh. Some mesh avatars are not designed for standard size mesh clothing and you may not be able to modify the mesh body.
  24. You can always post a general message in events or education forums such as "I'm offering classes that teach the English language, for more info about location and time, contact me inworld..." In the events forum I see many messages that provide specific locations and names so I don't see how it will be a problem, but I'm not sure. You can also post in the wanted (for students) or for sale forums (for services). Under community guidelines it states: "No advertising or promotion of specific Second Life merchants, Marketplace listings, products, or services, unless the forum area is specifically for the buying or selling of Second Life products or services, for example, a “for sale” or “wanted” forum." Hope this helps
