  1. Your question sparked my curiosity... I only speak English and look for items in English...but, I went into Google Translate and converted a few item names into Spanish (Doll Clothes/Animation Overrider/Baseball cap) then went to look them up in Marketplace. Even after changing the language at the top to Spanish, every search came up wiht no matching items found. (No se han encontrado elementos coincidentes.) I suppose that since LL is an American company, there's no parameters set up for other languages. Kind of a shame, I guess.....
  2. I was debating on whether or not I wanted to respond in a serious (ok, serious for ME) manner to this post...so here it is People, obviously, come to SL for different reasons. You have to do what makes you happy, Seph. If your friends list is dwindling because you're not having Slex anymore, then so be it. I am in a different kind of situation in SL (see my profile). I think that if I told my girls that I no longer wish to engage in Slex anymore, I believe I would lose 25% (counted it, probably 15 people) of my friends list. But it would be MY decision to do what I want. Fuhgetaboutit...those people who want to leave because you're not doing what you want are idiots. SL is supposed to be fun. If it's not...what's the point??/ There's my 10 cents....

I'll be glad to send you a group invite! :smileyhappy: Wait a minute...a place with NO horny guys...that'll totally increase my chances of getting some...send me the invite too.... :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: Honestly, if your friends were only interested in Slex...then they really weren't your friends to begin with. Good luck in your quest, dear....
  6. Madeline Blackbart wrote: A good way to make friends is to join groups go to clubs and hang out in popular areas. Going to clubs is a great idea, but can be very tough in the beginning. Unfortunately, if you go to the right places, it can be very crowded and hard to carry on a conversation...much less IM someone out of the blue. I would suggest going, as (wow...didn't realize it dropped off like that...you'd think I fell asleep at the keyboard or something....) I would still suggest going, as it's a fun place to hang out. But don't expect much in terms of meeting people there.... (That's better...closure....AHHHHH.....:matte-motes-sunglasses-3:)
  7. ToomsTobin wrote: Hi, I'm Tooms, I am an audio engineer from the midwest attending university for Network Technologies, and working for the University tech hardware repair division. I'm looking to get to know this SL thing a bit better, and break into some communities I have been curious about for a while, but havent had the nerve to really poke at. I'm big into gaming, I build computers, I like tabletop gaming (when I can find one, which has been years).... and thats really it right now. I'm new at my university and dont really know to many people, and am socially awkward, so im nervous to get out and meet new people.... I dont really even know what all I should be typing in this. I'm mostly doing this because my counselor said, "Try to meet new people any way you can!" so, here I am. Uh so, qustions. Whats a good way to get started in SL? Based on the above, where in SL should I go to find communities? I know this might be a long shot, but are there people in SL that need an audio engineer that can mix, master, edit and record? (maybe a little post too) Uhm, so hi! Hows things? Good day and welcome to the wonderful world of Second Life What I tell most new people who come into SL is this...go into the search engine and type in your interests, then see if any groups pop up that fit. You already mentioned Audio Engineer...there are DJ's all over SL. Once you find a group, join it..most are free...then send out a group message. I'm sure someone should reply. Or send an IM to the group owner. It's the easiest way to meet people here. And don't be shy. That's one of the great things about this..you can be whoever you want...totally different..no one can see you..no one is going to scream at you for saying hello. Give it a try. Good luck!!
  8. Davin, I totally get where you're coming from. Everyone here does...you play SL, it's exciting, it's fun, there's things to do and every so often it all starts to fade. It's happened to me..I spent weeks not logging in. Eventually, I came back..met new friends and continued on with what I was doing. As long as you can afford the land that you're on and don't mind paying for it, I would suggest keeping it. When you decide to come back, you'll want a place to go. As for downgrading..again, the stipend helps pay for stuff so as long as you can afford to pay it all, I would keep it. Maybe you can build apartments and rent them out (low cost) to residents. I know there's always people looking for nice, inexpensive places to live....you know, ones that don't cost $500L/wk. For finding new and exciting things to do in SL, I would suggest to you what I suggest to any newbie coming in...check the search, see what new groups may be out there that you'd enjoy being a part of. Or, since you've been here for a while, go back to those old groups..see who's still involved. There's nothing wrong with bulldozing and starting all over again. Will give you a chance to test your building skills. Maybe you need that new challenge. Whatever you do, good luck with it. If you wind up leaving SL for a few months..that's not a terrible thing either. When SL appears to become a chore, then it's best to just step away for a while.
  9. well, since you mentioned horror and gaming sims specifically, I might suggest that you search for groups of that nature. Once you find some (and I'm sure there are a ton around), join the group...then send a group IM. See who responds. Or send a message to the moderator. That's the easiest way I know to meet new friends with similar interests. Good luck
  10. Hey there.... Welcome to SL. My suggestion is for new residents to check the search function for groups tha tyou might be interested in. Put in your interests and see what comes up. When you find a group that you like, join it..most are free. When you do that, find out who's on...send a group message out..see who says hi. Or just IM the moderator, if they're on. Most people are pretty friendly in world so you should get a few responses. Good luck....
  11. Perrie Juran wrote: So are you saying if you had seen this Child Ava leashed and bound to a chair that didn't have sexual poses in it you wouldn't have been upset by what you saw? Or if they had been just laying on the ground bound and gagged? (I'm assuming it upset you because you are posting about it here.) Is your real issue that someone was roleplaying a child slave or is it simply that they were using a BDSM chair that happens to have a sex menu in it? Ok...getting back to the point, if I may...we are not here to determine why the OP was offended. The question put before us is whether or not this violates the TOS. I am with you in that child bondage of any kind is reprehensible (hope I spelled that right), but it is not our position to determine someone else's morals. SL has a lot of different things for lots of different people. I think we need to stick to the point, Perrie, and not bring someone's moral or kinks into this. :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:
  12. Sy Beck wrote: To answer this question, In all likelihood it was not a child, but an adult using a child avatar so there most probably is no child involved. ************************************************************************************************************************************ Just to clarify....That's the issue..there are not really many children playing SL (meaning people under 18). It really doesn't matter if the person behind the keyboard is a 90 year old man, if he's showing a child in a sexual situation, it's against the TOS.
  13. Sy Beck wrote: If we want to play semantics can somebody define BDSM furniture? The OP states nothing more than that the child AV was being, "... tied up in BDSM furniture." This, from my limited knowledge (honestly), could be a chair, a St Andrew's Cross or any rough flat table I presume. All of which in themselves are not sexual objects unless there are some particularly weird fetishes out there. Therefore, we would have to know the name of the piece furniture in question and know for a fact, by observation or admission by those present at the time, what kind of scripts it contained. Otherwise it could just as easily be specualted that it was RP involving a child AV tied to a chair, however unsavoury that maybe to the overwhelming majority of us. I would advise that if your conscience is that troubled then report it, but don't be surprised if nothing happens due to the few facts that you've supplied. thank you...that was my point as well. the child was tied up...most BDSM furniture (unless I'm mistaken or shopping at the wrong stores...) contains some sexual poseballs in it. That would definitely make a difference. It's a slippery slope we're going down here, people. The OP really needs to do some legwork and find out what was going on, if he's interested in doing so. We can sit here and make assumptions all day long, but we don't know the exact circumstances that were going on at the time.

  15. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: Promoting or catering to such behavior or representations violates our Community Standards. For instance, the placement of avatars appearing to represent minors in proximity to "sex beds" or other sexualized graphics, objects, or scripts would violate our Community Standards, as would the placement of sexualized "pose balls" or other content in areas depicting playgrounds or children's spaces. I think THIS is the key phrase, here. There may not be any sex involved, but child AVs are not allowed in proximity to "sexualized graphics". This includes BDSM equipment. But I do agree to engage the participants in a discussion before flying off the handle, so to speak. See what it's all about. Child slavery is not against the TOS, if you just RP it. It's when you start using props that it gets a bit sticky. Good luck...Hopefuly, this situation will be resolved by you not running into them again.
  16. Just to chime in...although, it's not going to help..I've been having that problem as well. I usually just relog and it fixes it. Sometimes it does take more than one relog though. I'm using Firestorm, by the way I tend to think that any problems SL is having has to do with whatever updates they're trying to do to the system. It's annoying, but fixable.
  17. Welcome to SL... The problem,as stated before, is the skin that you're using. It's been discussed in another post that the default skins given by LL contain undergarments. The way to get rid of them is to change the skin that you're using. So you know, the AV contains two items (mainly) skin and shape. The shape is obviously the shape of your AV..how tall, how skinny etc. By the way, if the shape is modifyable, it can be changed through the Appearance (but that's a topic for another day). The skin is what you look like...what race you are, if you wear any makeup, freckles etc. You can mix and match just about any shape with just about any skin. You need to figure out what looks good on you and put it together. As discussed earlier, you need to get rid of the LL default skin and find something else. My suggestion is to go into search and look for skins that you like. Stay away from things that say "DEMO" on them, as they will have tattoos on that you can't get rid of. it's just a way for designers to show off their stuff. Also, you can look for freebie shops to find skins or join groups that have free items. Fab Free is a great group. They also have a website you can use to find things. http://fabfree.wordpress.com/ Good luck. EDITED: And that's what I get for writing a huge novel..everyone else said it first....:matte-motes-sunglasses-3:

He messaged me saying he will pay me in a few days within seconds after posting so crossing my fingers. I never want to be mean or bash some one. Thanks for the advice. If he doesn't pay you, put a link to the post in this post...then we can all ask him why he's not living up to his obligations. I hate seeing people get shafted (unless, that's what they're into, of course....:matte-motes-sunglasses-3: Just a friendly little intervention, I think....:matte-motes-sunglasses-3:
  19. IMHO, it is fraud...you paid for something and he never delivered. Since you've tried to contact him and he's never responded, he's a scumbag. I don't know if you have any kind of recourse through LL...I was checking around and didn't see anything. A question is besides you and your friend, has anyone else had this problem? Does his shop have a group? Maybe question people there??? My suggestion is to see if you can file a case with LL (although, it may not be the way to do things), to get your money back or your custom work delivered. If he's posted for options on the forum, I think you've more than welcome to confront him here. Either you'll guilt him into satisfying you as a customer (with the custom work..get your minds out of the gutter) or he'll just stop posting because you've called him out. Either way, good luck. It's totally unfair that there are scumbags like this inworld who don't even have the common desency to do a service they're being paid for. (Ohhh..there goes that mind in the gutter thing again)
  20. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: So, you are 16 and you were lying about being her sister... It would have been much simpler and less deceitful to just come out in the OP and state you had a new job in RL and were leaving for a while, instead of all of this trickery and wallowing in the well wishes and "we hope you are OKs." *puts on Leiderhosen and begins to sing* You are 16, going on 17... 21. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: Somehow, I'm not buying it.. You don't quit SL because you got a new job. The comparison of temptation is like throwing out your TV and books so you aren't tempted to read or watch them when not at work. Just because you have a new job doesn't remove the need for a hobby or something to do when you aren't working. Personally, i think she got upset by the perceived criticism in the last thread she posted in and quit in anger. Which, if true, is very sad indeed. Ah...the Zombie cynic (shouldn't you be out chasing a pink tank in a different post???:matte-motes-sunglasses-3:) Although her reasoning may be flawed, I can understand what she's talking about. From my experiences watching Daytime Talk Shows, some people go through a process called Purging..wherein they throw out all their stuff associated with their "fetish" (not to say SL is a fetish, but you understand where I"m going) so that they're not tempted to start up again. 16 probably thought that deleting her SL account would stop her from going inworld..which works, for a while. I suppose that she's going to probably open up a new account using the name 15 or maybe 16 1/2 at some point and come back when she gets her head together.
  22. I think Hotmail itself is having problems. I've tried repeatedly to send and receive emails through there (not just SL related) and it does't work. Seeming to change should resolve your problem. Good luck

  24. Ceka Cianci wrote: they need a survey section for the forums..as many as they get here.. Yes...I agree. So we can ignore them in bulk, rather than individually. :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: My pat answer doesn't even work in this case..seeing that (supposedly) this survey has nothing to do with SL. Since it's a philosophy class, maybe the OP is just trying to see how many people will click on the link?? I don't know....
