Leap into love contest
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Madangel87's topic in General Discussion Forum
if you go to https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Leap-Into-Love-Snapshot-Contest/con-p/2016LeapintoLove/tab/entries there should be a "New entry" button right over the first row of pictures. after you click that, you should get an upload button. flickr uploads are for the pic of the day, that is a separate thing. -
Have your Alpha Modes changed to "None"?
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Qie Niangao's topic in Building and Texturing Forum
Pamela Galli wrote:Another new thing I noticed related to alpha textures -- I am on FS -- if an alpha texture, like a shadow, is on 0 alpha blending, it will be solid black. If I turn it to, say, 2, then it looks normal. this is possibly the automatic masking (used to be called fast alpha) feature. try toggling the two Automatic Alpha Masks items under Develop>Rendering and see if that makes a difference. if toggling that setting makes the solid come and go, then the 1% transparency workaround you used is the one most people use to force blending. you can do this on the texture itself, force a tiny bit of transparency on all pixels, to do about the same. -
how to mae the m3 HUD fuction? skins and shapes aplly help
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to spacefluff's question in Avatar
hi spacefluff, the syringe is an applier. try adding it to your avatar before you click on it, and make sure you are somewhere that allows scripts to run. rezzing on the ground is an alternative but not necessary, you should wear the head and HUD first. if the applier is working, simply clicking on it will bring up the apply dialog. don't worry about the pie menu references, some viewers still use it. the regular menu you see when you right-click on things has all the same options, just arranged differently. those tutorials are not from 2009, M3 heads are mesh. -
Giving a friend edit permission
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to peckerhead19's topic in General Discussion Forum
the edit permission only works for things rezzed in the world. it does not give access to your inventory, or to edit things you are wearing. when no-copy stuff disappears from your inventory, like when you try to rez it in a place where you didn't set the right group first, a relog often (not always) turns it back up in your inventory. -
you can't change the ground texture, except on a private region you own. you can cover it up with a "false" terrain and texture that.

Have your Alpha Modes changed to "None"?
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Qie Niangao's topic in Building and Texturing Forum
are the textures on those particular windows larger or more detailed than on your others? i would expect that the longer the texture takes to download, the more likely this bug would trigger. plain old luck can matter too, since right now there is a race to get the texture into your viewer's memory before it notices the object. -
Can't post in new official contest
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Orpartlu's topic in General Discussion Forum
Orpartlu wrote: The button to make a new entry is greyed out and says I do not have permission to post in this contest. is it working now? you have very few posts on the forum, and people who still have the "New Resident" tag don't have permission to upload photos. you have now posted enough to have the "Resident" tag and that is supposed to be enough to unlock uploads. -

the release notes from a few posts back, http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/4.0.2.310545 are where the bug is listed. download links are in those release notes at the top. -
Two problem with the current LL viewer
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Phil Deakins's topic in Second Life Viewer
Phil Deakins wrote: I can't get to see MAINT-5984. Apparently, I do something that's not permitted. Dunno why though oh yes, MAINT bugs are like that, they are not public. the public version is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-10986 - that was a nudge to fnish work on the very old https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-21388 anyway, that viewer version has a patch for the issue, you might want to try it and see if the cursor behaves (provided you can stay logged in with it of course). -
Two problem with the current LL viewer
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to Phil Deakins's topic in Second Life Viewer
the cursor bug started in 2010, and persisted for UI scales other than 1.0 however, this is an interestng time to mention it: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/4.0.2.310545 has this: MAINT-5984 Incorrect cursor position with UI scale >1.0 still exists in Second Life 3.8.6 (305981) -
HUD attachments are forced to fullbright, so that is not an option either. color or texture changes are the viable options.
-
if you first set an llSetHoverHeight over the water plane to overcome the avatar's desire to stick to the ground, llSetVelocity can do some interesting things in attachments here. you will need to bring along some animations too, the default states will interpret this as perpetually falling.

Myra Wildmist wrote: Should I have High Res Snapshot checked? (Advanced - High-res snapshot.) this is used with the "quick snapshots" feature, the one you get by pressing Ctrl+` normally, a quick snapshot gives you the same as your viewer's window dimensions. When you enable high resolution snapshots, both dimensions are doubled, giving you 4x the pixels. (For example, if the window was 1024x768, the high res snapshot will be 2048x1536). What is SSAO/Shadow smoothing? (Developer - Rendering - Advanced Lighting Model) this is the same as choosing the ambient occlusion option in the regular graphics settings.

Firestorm Viewer Adavanced Lighting Problem
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to fuccboi4lyf's topic in Second Life Viewer
this is a defect in some newer cards based on Radeon chipsets, not everybody is affected. so far, no driver workaround is available, and it is not clear if it can even be fixed in a driver. http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-16829 -
Today's Viewer update (4.0.2.310349)
ObviousAltIsObvious replied to ChinRey's topic in Second Life Viewer
the main release viewer right now is 4.0.1.310054, you can always check what is the release version at http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ because you are using a release candidate for the HTTP project and not the main channel, all updates are treated as mandatory. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers Warning: Please note that all Second Life Release Candidate, Beta, and Project Viewer updates are mandatory. -
the answer is in that blog too. http://www.daringgirlsl.com/2013/05/girl-in-red.html those are from an event and they do not appear to be at the whatever shop now. studded boots like that are not uncommon, for example these ones appear to be very close or maybe identical.

yes they use an application form, http://www.themeshproject.org/#downloads

hi, it looks like you're really new to SL! questions like this really belong under the Answers tab, but the bonus is paid out 45 days after you sign up for the premium account. you only joined Second Life a couple of days ago, so you have a bit of a wait yet.

yes it's all kinds of broken. teleports etc. are failing, marketplace can't complete purchases, lots and lots of fun. -
Fearo wrote: there isn't a way to save that setting, is there? it's not a big deal. though i log a lot and would love to be able to save local chat merged in the communicate tab )): the chat windows should stay the way you left them, the next time you log in. if you use alts, you may have to do that for each account.

Fearo wrote: Also, how do you merge the local chat and IM's into one chat box? -___- like on firestorm. I can't figure out how to do that either that one works just like Firestorm, there is a button in the top right, next to close-windows X, it is an angled arrow. click that and the chat box will merge in with IM. if you want the vertical IM tabs, that is under the Cool Features preferences tab.
