LOL Melita. Well, Vampires aren't exactly "nice", but some of the names are. Okay, I have decided to pick Yarrow as a last name and I have not checked The Name Generator yet as to what my Fairy name would be. So, The Name Generator could be very mean to me, too. I will find out shortly what Mayalily Yarrow turns into. ETA: Okay, here it is. Columbine Goblintree She brings riches and wealth. She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows. She is only seen when the first leaves fall from the trees. She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers and has gentle green wings like a butterfly. I think I'll stick with Mayalily Yarrow. And, my copy and paste is all jumbled up. p.s. I love the color combination of lilac and green though. I lucked out there!

There really are not any bad fairies, unless they have decided to leave the Shire. If a fairy leaves her duty, she will be a bad fairy and spiral downwards towards the depths of doom, but otherwise there are no bad fairies. I like Sylvia's name Feather and Hippie's as Yarrow. Those are cute names! My rl Vampire name would be Genevieve. So if I created a Vampire alt, I could chose that name if I wanted to. This could also be a cute website for naming a new pet for example not just necessarily finding an alt name.

No Storm, your Fairy name is Apple Snowsprite, and it says: He brings peace among enemies, I think is what it said. My first name is Columbine. I haven't decided on a last name for myself yet on SL, but I will eventually. I know it's Resident, but I still can add a last name to my name tag once I decide on a last name.
  4. Fun website I found where you can type in your name (even real name) to generate a Fairy, Elf, Mermaid, Vampire, etc.... name, or use your current username to generate some interesting names. If you don't want to use the link below to put in your real name, just type in your Google search bar: Fairy Names, and you should come across a website that says 'Fairy Name Generator'. It also says the website has been around since 1999, so I think it's a fairly safe website to have fun with. ETA: You don't need another website to create an Elf, Mermaid, Vampire name, etc, just change the link inside the below website to Vampire for example if you want a Vampire name, or to Mermaid if you want a Mermaid name. http://www.emmadavies.net/fairy/
  5. Hi Zynna, I was wondering if you get your name temporarily taken off the sim you have permissions for and then have your friend hit auto-return or clear group cache, if your hud would return to you? If that works, then your friend can just add your name back once the hud returns. I'm wondering if this would work?
  6. Sylvia Tamalyn wrote: Since you got a message saying the attempt failed, it should be in your inventory. Have you tried clearing your cache? That often makes "missing" objects reappear. I tried that when I got that message the OP got. I cleared my cache, and still no dresser anywhere. I often wonder where that dresser went? I have a folder of some copyable dances I received as a gift. I can send Zynna some folders of copyable dances she can use for now until it's found. There are free places to get a chim also; just type in inworld search/destination guide -- free chim, and you should find one Zynna. A club owner gave me 3 folders of some copyable dances, let me try to send you the folders, Zynna. However, with a hud, it might be transparent like a chim, so control + alt + t might show something, BUT you need to zoom in as close as you can also. Anyhow, will log on and try to send dance folders now.
  7. Zynna Xue wrote: Hi, Thanks for your quick reply. I have checked my lost and found folder and it is not there. It was dropped on a sim that isn't mine. A friend of mine has a little appartment rented here and I have access to it. With the proper group tag on I am allowed to unpack things on the land, such as shopping bags etc. Been in SL since 2008 and never had anything like this happen to me. I hope it will return one day (rather soon though!). A lot of linden was invested in this. Oh, you have access to this. This is more difficult. It probably went through or into the floor, although when I lost my dresser completely I got the exact same message you did and I've never seen that dresser again, although I didn't care because it was like 1 prim and only about 25 lins with nightstands that were 1 prim also, and these items were going to be just test objects to get a look or layout for my home. I have other furniture now. Try to remember where you rezzed it and hit control + alt + t and zoom in and see if you can see anything imbedded in the floor. I am so sorry that you can't find it right now! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you find it because I know chims/huds/dances are not inexpensive at all. Hopefully, someone else might have some advice, too! Or else LL knows what to do. If you had the wrong tag on when you rezzed it, you could try hitting return objects perhaps.
  8. Did you look in your LOST AND FOUND folder? Also, where did you drop it? In your home or on a sim that doesn't belong to you? If you dropped it somewhere that doesn't belong to you such as renting a SL home, the sim owner can chose return and it should return to you, but I think it will go in your lost and found folder. To find your lost and found folder, type in your inventory search bar: lost and found. If it was in your own rental home, I think your landlord/landlady can return it to you or find it perhaps? I'm not sure how this works in your own rental home, but there are ways. Don't give up just yet that it's lost. Though I did/do have a disappearing dresser that has never been found. I rezzed this dresser in my rental home and it is nowhere (and that was months ago -- I didn't care because it was an extremely cheap MP purchase like 25 lindens or something like that, but a chim or hud is expensive!). But, try your lost and found, it could be in there. p.s. After reading your OP again, it sounds like not your sim. Okay, find the name of sim owner. Ask whoever is there now who is the owner (username) of that sim, and the owner can just hit return objects, I believe. I don't see a reason for a ticket with the Lindens. Ask the sim owner.
  9. ellerc wrote: Hello all! I am heading into my 2nd month in SL and I'm enjoying it so far. Lately, though, I am becoming increasingly bored with doing the same ol, same ol. Shopping and clubs. Clubs and shopping. Honestly, I really don't mind the clubs all that much if the music was better. Can't seem to find a club with people that plays music that I'm into - alternative, old school hip hop, singer-songwriter, neo soul stuff - or that that has other people to interact with. Sadly, my search efforts inworld often lead me to clubs/venues/sims that are empty. Even though the music/environment is perfect - there's no one around. I've found a couple of places that I do enjoy visiting - The Brownstone Cafe and Bassline/Dub Step. So I thought I would reach out to the wonderful people of the forum to find cool places to sit in chill, meet interesting people, hear good to decent music and try new things. It doesn't have to be a dance club. Any suggestions?! ~Elle On V3, when you start the viewer, it offers you immediately some sims that are full of people (meaning you don't have to log into the viewer to see "what's up"). You could download V3, open it, check what's busy and active, and then write down the name of busy sim, and then log into the viewer of your choice, find it in your search and then go visit some of those busy and active places for the time zone you are in. This is also helpful if you want to visit a place when it's not so busy, such as Oktoberfest, for example. You might want to go when it's crowded or you might want to go when it's not so crowded.

Just step off the stage when nature calls, then run back. I understand with a job you can't be gone long and when a drink or nature calls it needs to be done properly with an announcement of a little powder room break, so it doesn't get all chaotic. But, I was thinking with hostess and Dj they could just IM each other, but still tips could come in, so a little announcement of letting the people know what's going on so it doesn't get all chaotic makes sense.

However, they should give a little "break" so people can get water or their preferred drink, go to the bathroom, etc., even if they have a SL job. . 2) All of the jobs I have ever had or have in SL do allow me to go afk for a moment or two. Particularly if you are working a two-hour or more stretch. Everyone needs to stand, stretch, fetch a beverage, whatever. For example, the dancers in the club where I work will notify other dancers they will 'brb' in the club group chat. They should give you like five minute breaks. The hostess could cover for you for five minutes, and then when the hostess needs to go afk for five minutes, then the Dj could cover. I couldn't go to the bathroom in a moment. I'd need at least five minutes.

I've been around for a long time, and this garbage never changes, and usually just gets worse; all the talk-talk-talk never changes it and I have had enough of it! The only way to get these people to wake up is to start hitting them in the pocket ! How many times have people tried to submit a ticket - and IF they even succeed, they don't get even a reply or answer until the last minute or never at all, eh? - Does anybody else out there have a spine??? Your username doesn't tell me if you are a man or a woman, but that doesn't really matter all that much as to the point I'm going to make. If you want to boycott greed, boycott all sports and movies. These movie stars and ridiculously high paid athletes need to come down to earth and get with reality with these crazy gazillions of dollar figures a year they want for their contracts, etc. I read an article the other day, which I totally agree with, it's the people in the higher income brackets who have irrational exuberance when it comes to "salaries". The NBA (National Basketball Association) wants a 52% pay cut from the NBA players, and it's becoming a big showdown between the NBA and the players. These athletes need to come down to earth with their demands for bazillion/gazillion dollar contracts; it's just absurd what some of these celebrities, athletes, and CEO's "want" as a salary. Their salary demands are completely irrational and have gone up, up, and WAY UP, whilst the average salaries of most of the working class have stayed flat this past decade or so. So, if you want to boycott, boycott sports, movies, any brand names where these high prices CEO's pocket billions. Marketplace does not have merchants pocketing billions off of slave labor wages. It is also the sports and the movies where most of the media manipulation is occurring; concerts perhaps, too. So, in order to not be a hypocrite, you have to boycott sports. And, if you are a guy who loves sports, too bad you must boycott sports in order to not be a hypocrite! And, movies, too! I could make this list longer for you, if you'd like. hehehe

  17. Venus Petrov wrote: One thing I have not seen mentioned so far is the use of the AO that is built into the viewer. Both Phoenix and Firestorm have built in AOs (you load up the animations and it runs as if you had a HUD). The built-in feature is supposed to help reduce lag. I notice when I went to Firestorm that the built-in AO caused some of my animations to appear jerky. So, I have reverted to wearing an AO HUD. I do not know if V3 has a built-in AO feature. Since Firestorm is based upon V3, it was worth a shot. Hi Venus, I'm not sure if V3 has that area that say AO on the bottom as I don't remember. I'd have to check, but that sounds cool. Anyhow, I found an AO at 200 lindens, so I just bought it. It will do well for now. I thought the AO's would cost a lot more, as I paid 1200 lindens EACH for two AO's from one place, and they were both so not worth the money. They just stopped working correctly after about a day, and the movements on those was very "robotic" as the changing of animations was so slow my avi looked like a slow running robot with unsmooth movements between changing animations. Anyhow, bought the 200 lin AO, and I'll try that for now. I thought a good AO would be a lot more. I also have most of the 10 lin AO's from Marketplace, and a few that were under 300 lins from MP, but the 1200 lin AO I liked the best, however did not work well from the beginning. So, now I'm broke, but have a new AO and hopefully no more "seizures".

The suggestion that worked for me was to stop my virus-checker from accessing the SL cache folders; the theory being that when the virus checker sticks its nose in the folders, your viewer can't get the free and frequent access it needs to run efficiently. The procedure varies between different virus checkers, but the first step is to look in your SL preferences and find where your cache folder is. Probably something like: C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\PhoenixViewer\<some cache names> Next, open your anti-virus preferences and look for a way to set 'exclusions' or 'exceptions'. Add the folder path(s) here and save. You can still run checks on the cache folders when you aren't running SL. Thanks Kelli. Let me check on that. Hope it works!

With my house done though, I may be able to budget in a new AO sooner; just depends, but I'm waiting to get a good one (which means I want to shop around, ask questions before I buy, ask about a refund beforehand before I even buy one, etc.) @ Not Storm, but generally to thread: Have changed clothes and hair many times, but that didn't help. I was just on SL just now for an hour, and it is doing that quick jerky like movements like it's missing a beat or something. It's so hard to describe. I will check all the things in this thread and get back, but I did want to mention that our TV and internet are on the same box and our TV misses frames at times too and sort of scrambles or fades in and out on our TV, but this is the first time I've seen this on a computer do this with running our current ISP. So, I need time to check all this stuff and will get back to thread tomorrow, as it's been a long day for me. @ Jacki, thanks! I thought my avatar health was getting very poor. I'm not sure, but it's hanging in there, but it looks like my avatar has "seizures" sort of. It could be our ISP. I'm just not sure yet, but our TV runs very cruddy and has "seizures" a lot, too. Thanks everyone... will check out all these things tomorrow and maybe call our ISP tomorrow as well.
  22. Hi, I have a new computer build which is a custom build, so I don't have specs yet because I didn't ask yet. (Will ask as soon as it is possible). Anyhow, I have sharp jerking like movements of my avatar and other avatars. It's like the frames are trying to move, but get stuck and jerk, like my avatar has a palsy of some kind. It's kind of hard to describe, but anyone ever heard of this, or may know what may be wrong? Is it my avatar health, my computer, my internet connection (not the greatest ISP, I will be switching eventually).... or is it something else? It's like the smoothness of movement is gone. That's the best way I can describe it.

Otherwise, with prices as they are, no.
