Maybe, maybe not. But aside from SL being indeed a MMORPG, and even in real life, compromise is how a relationship works. In the last post where I quoted you, I believe you were more or less saying "to thine ownself be true". And, while to thine ownself be true and we all have our bounderies are a good thing in a relationship whether rl or sl, compromise is still essential. Also, some people want to be able to take photographs, and if I were single on SL, since I play a fairy of the forest quite a lot or dress in a medieval way, I'd like a partner who would be willing to met me halfway and compromise and wear some things that go with the medieval look for photographs or other events. Anyhow, the point of my last post was missed, and my point was compromise. If she finds someone who is willing to compromise, I think she will have found a good partner.
  2. This is a parapharsed quote from Rita Rudner. "I married an Englishman. I consider myself very lucky because he doesn't know anything about American Football. Last night we were watching a game and he asked "What does halftime mean?". And, I answered, "Halftime means the game is over". ROFLMAO!
  3. Rita Rudner Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, "Never take candy from strangers." And then they dressed me up and said, "Go beg for candy." I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on people’s doors and go, "Trick or treat." And then I'd say, "No thank you." I had a huge laugh from that one last night when I was watching Rita Rudner on TV last night. Please share some of your favorite comedy quotes or skits. You Tube is welcome.

So, you want the kindomship of Second Life because you air kissed an avatar in a magazine? Well, that's not going to help, if you want the kindomship of Second Life, you have to buy ALL the land in SL, I'd reckon.

Twice trying other veiwers, the third going back to the plain ole second life vewier3 since the others didnt work anyways lol. Ok, now about the first thing..where would I find that to check for the pluggin? You seem to have a lot of time. What viewers have you been trying? Assuming it's a Windows OS that you're using, control alt delete should bring up the task manager. Click on processes and you should see the plugin listed there when you have your SL viewer running. I have many of the same problems as Uncommon. And, she is right Randall that it doesn't take "time" to download as one can do things in real life while stuff is downloading. I'm still using V3, and no you cannot open profiles inworld, and the search works for me on V3 but it won't let me delete the first word I've typed in the search box and put in another word. And, yes, my task manager shows the plugin. All I can suggest Uncommon is to run your Disk Cleanup as this will free up some of your hard drive space. A lot of "space" is left when uninstalling/installing occurs. To find your disk cleanup, follow this path: All programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup, and run it. It may take an hour or more depending on how often you have run your disk cleanup. Also, SL works much better when I run disk cleanup after uninstall/reinstall. Worth a try, Uncommon, as when I uninstalled Phoenix I had over 5 million kb worth of free space I could now free up. With other viewers, the average free space has been about 19,000 kb, with Phoenix it was over 5 million! To the OP, to search for items in your library or inventory, simply type a word like 'hair' or 'eyes' or 'shirt' in your inventory's search bar and you will find lots to chose from in your library. Marketplace is right here on this website (simply point cursor to shopping not forums) and open Marketplace, then click on "see all categories" as this will bring up your pricing menu so you can search for items from 0 to 10 lindens. Some of the 0 items are demos, but demos are good too, and there are lots of items to chose from that are priced from 1 to 10 lindens on Marketplace.
  6. Ren Toxx wrote: Looks in SL can so easily be changed... not only you can put into whatever appearance with just a click or two... you can also put out of that appearance just as easily, if you're not really comfortable with it. So, when you find a seemingly nice candidate, give him emo/goth skins, emo/goth hairs, emo/goth eyes, emo/goth clothing, emo/goth jewellery, etc., and tell him that he must wear all that stuff whenever he's with you. If he refuses, there you have a potentially good man :smileyhappy: This is somewhat true, but what if you want to role play a certain time era in SL for example, then you do kind of need to look the part even though one or the other partner may not like the particular dress style for the role play, but if they do love each other then doesn't matter what they wear, or they can compromise from time to time. But, the OP may want a role play type of SL and SL is also a MMORPG. So, her asking for what she is looking for doesn't seem out of sorts to me. To the OP, best of luck!
  7. Ariel Vuissent wrote: They really are... ;; I had at least 7 sets before yesterday; then bought at least 5 more. I love them! Love them all If you're able, would you mind sending me the name or landmark of the store(s) you found your usable glove nails in? For poses that "break" the prim ones, it would be nice to have some glove ones so my nails can still look semi-decent. None of the prim one's I've used "break with any of my AO's, or with dancing, just in poses that force the hands to spread. (Or when SL glitches and forces the spread hands...) I did take a picture sitting on a pile of leaves for the fall thread (I think that's where I posted it) and had to take off the prim nails because the pose spread the fingers. I'm so addicted to my prim nails, I don't know what I'd do if my AO broke them! I found them on Marketplace months ago, but I think this is them in the link and also you can see them if you click on my name on my avatar badge here it will bring up my picture and I think I am wearing these in the link in that pic and they are glove. I say think because I bought them months ago, but for 10 lins, these might be worth a try. Again, click on my name to see my pic in my pictures area. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Simple-White-Nails/829695 ETA: Yes, I think these are them. ^^^^^^^^^^ They are great for your "default" nails as there is no need to tint the glove; just chose wear, and you're done. (I just bought a pair of French manicure nails with gloves just now and I have to tint, and there is no way I am taking the time to tint the gloves. I won't even use those. But the link I gave you above for glove nails has no tinting needed and there are several colors and no tinting needed. YAY N STUFF!.)
  8. I've had success with one pair of gloves nails and I wear those when I'm not wearing the prim nails. The prim nails do "break" occasionally with sitting poses, like my rocking chairs for instance. However, I've luckily been able to reset them. The prim nails do not "break" with an AO or dancing, thank goodness! I love the nails! Just love them! A few glove nails are nice if you can find them. The prim nails are addicting :matte-motes-bashful:
  9. For years, the pale lip glosses have been the in thing. Personally, I like color on the lips myself in rl and in sl, and I love the blue-red red lipsticks rather than the orange-red lipsticks which I don't care for at all, so I think you made a nice choice with the make-up, as me, personally, I like colors on the lips rather than so pale. Also, some lipsticks in darker shades are making a comeback, and that is a very glamourous blue-red. A blue-red color would be on the cool scale for make-up which you could read about what cool colored make-up is on the internet as opposed to warm make-up and what colors of clothing go well with cool make-up as opposed to warm shades of make-up, etc. An orange-red lipstick would be on the warm scale for make-up. My personal preference has always been "cool" make-up rather than "warm". I think it looks great and hip and I'm glad to see some of the very pale lip glosses go away! ETA: I just checked on the internet for websites decribing cool and warm make-up and there are a lot. Just type in your search bar cool and warm make-up and that should take you to a lot of websites that explain how to balance your cool tones, what to wear, etc. Here's one example: http://www.easymakeupguide.com/makeupcolors.html p.s. Also, the eye make-up is cool on your new skin and so is the blush, so looks good!

You could be "Holiday Parisian Barbie" in that outfit, especially with the fly open skirt and the lace pantaloons (reminiscent of the Parisian can-can). I love dolls in real life, and you look like the perfect Holiday Barbie, ala Parisian. Although you are way better looking than Barbie and avatars don't exactly look plastic, but that is a Holiday Barbie outfit if I ever saw one! Oh Maya, you've brought back memories...my girls used to collect the Holiday Barbies. As a matter of fact, I think I still have them packed up in boxes somewhere I have to agree with you, it is the perfect outfit for that theme. Yes, definately perfect for "Holiday Barbie" which is a special edition every year. I'm not sure if they still have them or not? But, if they do, the creator of that outfit should send that to Mattel for next year's Holiday Barbie. They could get rich with that outfit. Of course Mattel would make the pantaloon look more modest, but hey it's worth a shot creator -- send that to Mattel for Parisian Holiday Barbie! I always have loved the special edition Barbie's. My sister has some, too, and often puts hers out for the Holidays. I always liked the Valentine Barbie series and the Fairy Barbie series the best, but Holiday Barbie is always a beautiful vision, too!

  12. Tristen Starsider wrote: Hey! So I wanna take some pics with friends, I use inworld shadows so I don't want to use a greenscreen, rather a nice in-world location that I can rez my poses and take some pics. Everywhere I have been is either not very friendly on the eye or in most cases you are not allowed to rez... I understand the reason sim owners prevent people rezzing but it's realllly frustrating! Maybe if they had a 1 minute return time that way anything not being used is returned O-o Anyway, I would REALLLY appreciate some SLURLS to some places I can visit and rez.. Thanks!! This method uses natural SL light so it can't be anywhere in a skybox like the cyber sim insilico Again, this is an awesome photo. Absolutely stellar and your talent for photography is far better than the backdrop you are using in this photo. That backdrop is not as good as your talent. I collect some avatar art and it is also sold on Marketplace under the category of 'art'. Here is a link to art on Marketplace (you find Marketplace by pointing your mouse to shopping rather than community). You have talent! Maybe you could sell some avatar art? I like the Gothic, the Medieval; but Vampire and other avatar styles of art are also popular both inworld and on Marketplace. You should post that photo in "The Vanity" thread also. It's very well done; most beautiful lighting I've ever seen, but the backdrop doesn't do justice to your talent, imo. I wish you luck as well! You are good! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?search%5Bcategory_id%5D=29
  13. I saw some free beginners photography backdrops or some free photography stuff on SL Marketplace. A lot of the poses are like 1 linden each. That's why I was going to try to first turn my SL rental house into a personal photography place as a hobby because a lot of photography stuff is free or nearly free on Marketplace, and that's awesome for beginner's getting into SL photography as a hobby. Now I've talked to commerical photographer's and then spent a lot of money getting their professional studio going, a lot! Also, you could ask my landlady for 300 prims at 350 lins a week; that's something like $6-7 U.S. dollars a month; that's hardly anything. A SL job for just a few hours a week could easily pay for your hobby. Anyhow, just a suggestion, as that's what I was going to do, but decided to make my SL home a home instead. Here's the link to Marketplace, which is right here on this webpage (Marketplace is not rezzed nor inworld; it's like shopping on Ebay or Amazon with a checkout cart). To search for items in the 0 to 10 Linden category, just hit 'see all categories' to the left of the page, and that should open your pricing menu on Marketplace. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/
  14. That is gorgeous lighting! Well done! There might be a huge 2-story rental home on my sim available for you to turn into your personal photo studio house. Now, this would be for personal photography use as professional photography studios are not allowed on residential sims. However, when I first move into my SL rental house, I had plans to make it a personal photography house where I could set up backgrounds and poses, etc, for a SL hobby. Anyhow, it's not a bad idea to rent a SL home and turn it into your own private photography studio (but again, commercial photography is not allowed). If you are interested in the sim I rent on (it's 400 lins a week for 350 prims) to make your own personal photo studio, just IM me inworld, and the house is huge where you could put lots of props, backdrops, etc. I think you would be able to sell your photos as artworks, but not have a professional studio where people are going in and out all day because that would cause a lot of lag.
  15. Ceka Cianci wrote: the only thing i ever look at from paypal is when i make a purchase..i check my bank constantly daily online..so if something were going on i would see it right away.. Hi Ceka, You mentioned bank with Paypal. I read the other day that some banks or all banks (it's not known yet) some time next year will start charging for debit card use. In the article it said it's better to get an American Express card that you pay off at the end of each month as you get 1% rewards (of what I don't exactly know, cash of 1% back perhaps?). The article also stated that with an American Express card you will be safer if someone hacks into your account. If your bank is hacked, the article said there isn't much that can be done and you could lose all your money and the bank won't care. However, if you get an American Express card that you pay off the balance of each month, if that is stolen or hacked, you have recourse to get your stolen money back as it's protected on a credit card, but not bank. This is just an FYI. To the OP, I've also been with Paypal like Claire for nearly 10 years since almost the beginning of Paypal and Paypal does not send out anything like that whatsoever; however, those phishing scams have been around almost the whole 10 years or so. Just ignore them and delete them. They are a nuisance, but they eventually go away from your email.

Would you give me back my fairy dust, get the stars to twinkle for me again, stop my avatar from being "ruthed", give us 15,000 linden spending money a month to start to be your maid, would you create more SL jobs? Or, what, exactly would you do for us as "King" of Second Life if not on the list above? Better tier prices, less lag...?
  17. Awww, I didn't hear the news. He put up the good fight with his pancreatic cancer. He was a legend in his own time. He will be missed, and remembered. Rest in peace, Mr. Steve Jobs.
  18. Okay, thanks, Venus. I've tried taking off and putting back on fingernails, but no go; stuff just flies off that I already put on, and when I try to layer a top, stuff flies off, too. Not sure what this is in regards to the fingernails and layering? I'll check the database and see if I can find anything on why stuff keeps flying off even though "false" avatar is now gone. Or, when I typed in worn to see my avi was wearing, some things from the character test were called invalid avatar, but those are gone now and stuff still keeps flying off. My first character test rebuild went fine; this one, no, not going well at all, but I think breedables moved in very recently and are definately causing so much lag, can hardly move in my own SL home now. I need to finish running my anti-spyware before I can log back on to check some more things. Scan check is going to need about another 20 mins or so. ETA: When I logged back in, I was a half an avatar. No hair, no legs at all, no prim skirt. I rebuilt my avatar, and logged out. I will have to do more checks tomorrow. In regards to knowledge base thus far, I need to make a folder copy of my avi. Well, on V3, copy does not work; for example, I cannot copy my hair or skirts, or mod items, etc, that say make a copy first.
  19. Hi Lanas, I did notice more lag in my SL rental home and especially today, but I don't know if it's me, as my avatar got thrown out of my SL house when trying to move the arrow keys and I saw a bunch of breedable horses; it looked like hundreds of them. So you mention lag, could the breedable horses nearby be causing this then? Anyhow, I'm running my anti-spyware right now (it's showing nothing yet), and I'm keeping my fingers crossed, too! p.s. I think the breedables just got moved near us because we had a very low lag sim before, but I think it could be someone has moved breedables near us just very recently then. Today, in my SL house, it was horrible lag, and today when my avatar was thrown out of the house by trying to move arrow keys, there were hundreds of horses, and I never saw any horses before. ETA: Let me IM my landlady and see if she knows anything about these possible breedables that may be causing us nightmares now. lol One person's "fun" sounds like another person's nightmare, literally.
  20. Okay, about 2-3 days ago, I was an egg, did character test and rebuilt my avatar in about five minutes. (First time I ever had to do that, but went okay). Today, I am an egg again, go to character test, rebuild avatar, but with difficulty. Once I had most of my avatar rebuilt, if I wanted to layer a particular top, other clothing parts and hair still fly off. Now it looks as though I've gotten all the default avatar out of there, but still when I try to layer my top, and especially trying to put on fingernails, still makes almost all things detach from my avatar. So, 1) Is there anything else I need to do to get rid of the bugs affecting my avatar? And 2) Why won't the nails work? 2b) This morning I noticed my fingernails that I was wearing yesterday were broken off and they will no longer work. Any advice on what to do here, and why won't my fingernails no longer work? Also, after character test and rebuilding, why are things still flying off when I try to put something on my avatar? ETA: After things kept flying off no matter what I tried, I hit debug avatar textures, logged off, and now I'm posting this to see if there is anything else I can do.
  21. Well, you sound so happy about these "bots", it may be good. I'll have to wait n see, like everyone else.
  22. Jo Yardley wrote: There is no bling and fairy dust in V3? Thank God! LOL, Jo, meanie. Just kidding. Now some bling is obnoxious, I will agree, but a little looks nice, especially if one is a fairy. I miss my fairy dust so much. And no, doesn't work on V3. No, fairy dust. :matte-motes-frown: Oh, my twinkling stars don't work either. Twinkle doesn't work for anything, not on V3, not even a little twinkle. The stars in the sky for midnight setting look like circles or dots, and that's about it.
  23. This just makes me think of "lag". I wouldn't like that. I would have preferred an update on a working viewer so bling, sparkles, and pretty things will work again. On V3 no bling, no fairy dust. I know those things cause lag too, but it's prettier than false bots or animals walking around. I miss my bling and fairy dust!
  24. Okay, got the two items from MP just now. It must have just been one of those "glitches" yesterday.
