But, nevertheless, if they can disable objects, pushing, voice on certain properties, why can't they disable camera controls such as on private home rental land or near changing rooms? Can't a compromise be reached here, such as making a feature to disable camera zooming in certain areas, such as land rental sims, or dressing areas? @ Venus, don't have much time left, but here's the name. A slurl might be under map in this new viewer I'm using. Anyhow, I've never needed to copy/paste a slurl before, but I have used them from this website or Marketplace to go somewhere. Yes, lol. I'd like to see the proof, so use my house and let's see. If you are on viewer 3, then you should be able to cam into my house. I'm not going to even be rl home until after about 2pm SLT today. My zoom seems to stop when I'm on my porch, bridge, near the pool, etc, and only zooms my avi, then stops. When I'm up in the air on my rental sim, I can zoom around way far. Weird.

I clicked disabled camera constraints and with my avi standing on my porch, bridge, etc, zoom seems to stop on my avi only and won't go thru into the house. I'm using v3.0 (I believe is the name). Well, I thought I'd have privacy. Why else would they have changing rooms then? People can cam through changing rooms then, too? As far as unlocked doors, simply put up decorative wreaths or paintings on your doors and no one can get in, and just teleport in and out. Tinies could get in with wreaths, but with paintings that cover the whole door, no they couldn't, and there are some vertical paintings, tapestries, etc.

Let's keep this in mind, but I'm not so convinced yet that this isn't a rumor, as cam (well, I'm going to call it zoom) is disabled on my porch, bridge, near the pool, etc, etc. I tried flying also, but didn't get inside my home yet. I'll be back around 2pm SLT. Also, the newer viewers may be taking this feature out as the zoom stops at my avatar when I'm on my porch, bridge, etc, and will not go thru walls when my avatar is standing near the house. I'm not sure what is going on here yet.

I'm not so sure that people can spy on you is even true or a rumor? I just tried to cam into my house and couldn't. First of all on v3.0, the camera will not cam when on ground level on my step, on my bridge, nor near the pool. It seems to be disabled on my porches. Next, I tried camming as much as I could, but couldn't get into my house with a cam view, just lots of surrounding buildings, but not inside. Does anyone have any photos of how they cam thru walls and can actually see furniture in someone else's house? This is the first time I've tried camming, so I don't know exactly how to work it. If you can cam into my home, let me know as I'd like to see the photos. Let's see some proof of this camming into people's houses, so we can know if this is a rumor or not... or if the newer viewers are taking these features out as again when on my step, bridge or even farther out, cam (or zoom) suddenly does not work.

It's a house. We have some prims set to group. So, I don't think I'm going to get any privacy then.

It doesn't work. You either have to own your own land, or I have to see if my land lady is willing to set that for me. But since so many of you think my avatar in my own home rented belongs to everyone, why would she turn it on for me?

I only heard of this about a week ago. And, at Pamela. I've never used cam. Default view and zoom is adequate for me. I only zoom to take pictures of myself and that's it. Anyhow which is it, yes or no to privacy and freedom from invasion of my privacy....?

Well, there are two views (no pun intended) going on this thread. Some say yes it can be done, and some are saying no it can't be done (have privacy). So, all I want is a straight answer of yes or no of how I can stop this. I personally think it's insane! How rude can that be? It's beyond rude.

Camera controls doesn't say anything about people camming in on you and invading your privacy. Onscreen controls Access onscreen camera controls by clicking the View button on the bottom bar of the Viewer. For additional information about these controls, click the ? button at the top of the window where they appear. Mouselook Mouselook sets the camera to a first-person perspective, allowing you to view the world through your avatar's eyes. You can enter mouselook by pressing the M key or by using your mouse's scroll wheel to zoom all the way in on your avatar. When in mouselook, your avatar turns to face the direction in which you are looking, which allows you to steer with your mouse while you walk or fly. Mouselook is also often used in order to aim or activate scripted objects. Avatar mouse steering You can orbit your view around your avatar by clicking anywhere on your avatar and holding the Left mouse button. As you turn your view left or right, your avatar turns to face the same direction as the camera, allowing you to steer your avatar.

Yes, I'm running a brothel. Just kidding. Yes me. It's my avatar. I paid for it. I want my privacy PERIOD! What I have paid for, should belong to no one else, nor should they have a right to anything about my avatar period without my permission period.

Can't they shorten the cam distance? What is this camming thing for anyways? What is it's purpose? Is it for builder's or land owners or what? Still, I find this unethical of Linden Labs. Very unethical for not disclosing this to SL users. IT SUCKS! I know I'm an avatar, but I pay for my own SL, and I am not free SL entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will I stop being angry at LL, not! IT SUCKS! It should be fully disclosed to new users period.

People can and are able to cam inside my SL rental house? I read that somewhere, but lost the thread. Anyhow, my question is there anyway to stop this, such as would what are called privacy screens work? Or can those privacy screens be cammed through also? Is there any way to prevent this other than a skybox way up in the sky? (I don't want to move!... and, why wasn't this disclosed by LL?) Angry at SL for not stating in their TOS that there is no privacy on your rental land or land to prevent "cammers". :smileymad:

The latest beta viewer I have 3.0 (I think) gives you destinations to chose from with avatars present upon starting the SL viewer 3.0. I like that new feature. Once you get one of the newer viewers 3.0 or later, you will have a better SL, imo. I love that feature they just added. For me personally, SL can get boring at times also. When that happens, you just have to do something different for a change of pace. I personally never found SL boring when I first arrived though because I was too busy looking around for what to buy and where to rent, etc. My favorite things are working on my SL rental house, and I'm here for the music and the chat... so I love live music and a lot of the tribute shows they put on in SL (there are a few tribute groups where it's like a recreation of a live concert -- lots of fun for me anyhow! I love it!). I also love SL in that I've gotten to hear so much music I've never heard before. But, anyhow, the newest feature in 3.0 viewer where it shows current "happenings" should give you some cool ideas of what is happening on that day and options for many things to do. 3.0 is still in beta, and hopefully we will get some mesh viewers done and out of beta soon. Hopefully! lol

The vanity will come when it's done! It's not done yet! But, those cute butterflies I found from Ishtara are going to put the icing on the cake of my vanity "fairy" house. I just know it! I'll place them some place really special, and then take the vanity photos. @ Sylvia, those vamp photos are very smexy there! And @ Randall, omg, I could drool. @ Myself, p.s. thinks a butterfly vanity sounds really cute! May do that!

Absolute STUNNING photo, Wildcat! This photo isn't exactly "vanity" but a thank you to Ishtara for making the free butterflies for my "fairy" house. THANK YOU, ISHY. These butterflies are so cute and I am going to enjoy placing them in places that will just make my fairy house that much more special. (Ishy, I found your butterflies quite by accident just doing a search for butterflies, but again THANK YOU!)
