You are welcome for the use of the rocker! My landlady said she'd get me a new faucet and I think that will look very nice in the kitchen! I told her to get an old rusty one and she laughed. I think she understands us steampunks a little bit. Oh, I told her I was steampunk when I first met her. I tried to explain what steampunk meant, but she said she knew what it meant. I often wonder how many people know what a steampunk is because the word punk sounds like a punk. Anyhow, steampunk means antiques.

No, no Randall... I'm a fairy. Fairies protect the flowers from being trampled upon. We have much work to do when we are not shopping for jewelry. Fairies love sparkle... as it's like being wrapped in the stars we dance upon -- naked in the moonlight. @ Storm, you may most certainly call me May.
  3. My anti-spyware I meant hates FS beta and fights it like crazy. However, there is another anti-spyware someone told me I could try to download which is a little more compatible with FS beta. I could try that, and I will get some demos tomorrow and try a test before I delete as V3 is working okay for me, except it won't let me delete a word in the destination guide. Even highlight the word and right click doesn't have a delete option for the word already in there. I've hardly had any MP failures; only about 3-4 since March. @ Storm, lol, yes I know it's buggy, but somehow it got buggier, especially when that item I had rezzed in my SL house, rezzed onto my avatar the next time I logged in. Anyhow, I will test tomorrow with two free demos and see what happens. If no go, I may need a switch of anti-spyware and go the route of FS beta.
  4. I know, but see with V3, I can't remove the keyword from the search bar and put in another word, so shopping is difficult inworld. However, I just read the other thread about a cap at about 4 items on Marketplace. Well, this weekend, I got 7 and 5 I believe it was with a time delay, but did finally get them. Anyhow, I will go check my inventory and see if they got in there somehow? If not, it's IM the creator. I'll try a test tomorrow with a few free items and see if I can get delivery or not.
  5. But I always got instant delivery before upon logging into viewer. I've never experienced delays like this, but complete failure was today. Why no more instant delivery of boxes when I log on, I have no idea why this is doing this? Also, I rezzed an item in my SL house, and the next time I logged into SL, I had the item attached to my avatar. lol That looked funny, but made me think I might have a bug of some kind.
  6. Okay, didn't get my five items from Marketplace today, but I logged in fine, just got no delivery. However, when I put back V3 (the last one) when I logged into viewer after checking out on Marketplace this weekend, it took about 5-7 minutes for the boxes to arrive. This time today when I checked out of Marketplace and logged into the viewer, I waited about fifteen minutes or more for my boxes to arrive, but they didn't. I looked on Marketplace and it says the items were delivered, but they weren't. So, I'm at a loss here of what to do. Why is the viewer not recognizing my username and/or taking so long to send boxes. However, today got no boxes at all. Is there any debug thing I can use to fix this? What should I do? Should I just give up V3, and change try FS beta and a new spyware? Or do you think I can debug this V3 because my RVL is pretty good and back at around 1.7 and the viewer is working okay, not great, but okay. Any advice or anyone heard of this happening before? ETA: Every viewer I've used before I got instant delivery upon logging into viewer... so I have never experienced this kind of a delay, and then today NO delivery.
  7. Gorgeous Sapphire and Venus. I thought I'd try to photoshop this next photo to see if I could make it look more interesting, but then decided to leave as is. I love jewelry in rl and sl.... help! Jewelry Anonymous for me?
  8. Yes, I have had slowness but with Firefox today. I was getting that "connecting"..."connecting"..."connecting" thing again, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. It has been slow for me today, too. Weird?

That's why I deliberately put "20th Century power", both China and India weren't really in the game until very recently (and I'm not sure India is even now). Someone always wins :-) @ Maya, I don't get your last post. Wonder how the world will survive? Even humanity will be fine although the next generation in 'the West' is going to have a harder time than the current one, for almost the first time in history. Money, so lending, debt and bankruptcy are just human inventions and only have inter-personal/national impact. Baby boomers, generation X, the bill has arrived and it's the children that will have to pay it. Well, I'm sure we will survive as best as possible. It's the potential collapse of the euro which is a ticking time bomb and will have rippling effects throughout the world. It is too early to call a complete collapse of the euro, but it looks likely. All living generations will suffer through this now and later. Greece's bonds hit a whopping 98% about two weeks ago. There is no way Greece can pay back 98% on it's bonds. But, what exactly this ticking "time bomb" is going to do to the global economy is not yet fully known. Though Switzerland has most exposure to Greek debt. Let's just say, it's not good. But, breathe and one day at a time is all we really can do until this picture with the ramifications of a collapsing euro becomes clearer.
  10. Well, the debt in Europe is just as bad or worse. There have been talks of downgrading the U.K. four notches, and we may as well say Greece is bankrupt, and the euro's future is very uncertain. Congress is currently looking into manipulation by the Chinese for purposely undervaluing the yuan by 40% according to the following article, which I thought you might find interesting. (The link below and the story is from yesterday). http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Congress-addresses-Chinese-apf-1977309255.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=6&asset=&ccode= I'm concerned about how the world is going to survive. One thing that seems apparent is that humans are too spread out over the globe. If we were in more concentrated areas, there would be more stable commerce and society. Communes sound like a possible alternative, also.

  13. Void Singer wrote: @Mayality how do you get that Churchill's (apocryphal) statement made him a hypocrite? Ah, Churchill's statement just reminded me of the double standards women have had to face for centuries. These prior "men of power" with their mistresses and women on the side for centuries seen to be considered good that they have mistresses and the men would even make smoking rooms to gather with their cigars and scotch after being fed a great meal and even their wives would put their feet up and give them the cigars and the scotch after visiting houses of "ill repute". Oh, that's normal for a man to do that, but only the women are "whores". At least today, it's viewed as both are "whores" or cheaters or something else if unfaithful; (some) of the double standard is fading away, but only some. Tiger Woods comes to mind as to how the media now views men who have a lot of lovers outside of their marriage. Today some of the men are called "sexaholics" whilst the women are still called something else, such as what Madonna or Britney Spears have been called. The media now calls men "sexaholics" or they were abused in childhood or something so now they are promiscuous. But, women celebrities in the media are just called "sluts", not the toned down version of being called a "sexaholic", or that the women had a problem with abuse, unless it's a Loreena Bobbitt type thing.
  14. Thanks, Dres. Hugs back. I'm feeling a little better, but no marathons or anything like that anytime soon. I fight this disease with almost no medication because I don't want to get addicted to any pain killers. It's not easy, but I do it. I'm still a little sleepy. Autoimmune diseases wax and wane -- they go into acute phases, and then get better. I've been through these acute phases many times before, and they do get better with time.
  15. Nothing special, just wanted something with May or Mae in it, but most were taken, until I tried May with my favorite flower, which is a Lily. I had never heard of the Maya software until I visited SL forums, so my username is a complete coincidence to the Maya software. Cute thread. Had fun reading about everyone's name and how it came about. Loved the marijuana reason as said by someone... too funny! But, I will add that Lily is my favorite name for a girl, and if I had a daughter, Lily would be her name, so I guess that is special, although I have no daughter.
  16. Omg, I'll have to change that. Here's the story. I have a "supposed" antique postcard that says: Art is long, and time is fleeing. Now, after I just looked up the quote on the internet, I believe it's a reproduction, probably made in China or somewhere else where English is not the native language. My antique postcard is a fake. I should have looked it up! But, the art on the postcard is Art Nouveau and gorgeous, and I still like the postcard, though had doubts it was an 'antique', but now I know it isn't an antique, obviously.

I can't stand primary colors, any of them. I like my colors toned down with grey, brown, black... it's hard to explain but I'll try. When I make a pink color I tone it down with brown so it's more of a soft, muted pink rather than a scream in your face pink; some people call that dusty pink or antique pink, etc. I am very picky with colors, that's just me. I'd love to find another antique bed on SL that has colors I love. Or perhaps I'll make that a music room instead of a bath and vanity room like I was planning; something will come about eventually. Here's a page I made about tinting, and it includes info about how to get more subtle colors http://lagalleriasl.blogspot.com/p/learning-how-to-modify-texture-and-tint.html. Very simple but try it on a cube first. You can also buy textures and apply them in a similar way -- there might even be some in your library. But I have found that if a texture is a pretty light color I can usually tint over it to good effect. But again, texture a cube first. Tint you can always remove but if you retexture your bedspread you can't go back to the original texture unless you own it. In any case there is no need to get rid of your bed because it is not the right colors. Oh, I didn't buy the bed yet. I asked the creator if she could make it in different colors. She makes very nice things, and I really did kind of have my heart set on that bed. So, thank you for the info, and I'll look into how or if I can mod it. That relaxation bed and a harp in that room might be just what the doctor ordered. But, no doctor visits in my room will be necessary. They'd charge way too much, but if a cute male doctor, well....maybe....:matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: Anyhow, thank you for the info. Sounds like a plan to try as I really did love that bed, but haven't bought it yet.

  19. I editted my post for clarity. I meant to write people who charge for SLex are the smart ones, not escorts. Now I get to wear the redunduncey cap. (Dillon, I owe you a note and an invite to my SLouse because I know you meant well, and you didn't fully understand that I was sick and hadn't even had time to contact Ceka and Willow yet, let alone my landlady.) Anyhow, I simply could not believe that someone on the internet "loves me"... they don't even know me or my heart. This is texting/sexting platform, it's a fantasy world and none of us look exactly as perfect as our avatars even if someone were to say it's modeled after them. Now some of us like each other and it hurts when I know some of my internet friends are sick, etc, but love within just texting/sexting...I say the escorts are the smart ones. With the lins, they get lots of nice SLuff, and won't get their heart too involved on the internet, and I do not believe they should be called "whores" or anything of the kind, because I think they are smart to not give away their heart so freely on a texting/sexting/SLtexing platform. I'm with Scylla on her POV that SL isn't just a sexting platform; it's a lot of fun, and when it's light-hearted, it's a terrific community here. We are all working together to get through this prolonged "beta" phase, always experiencing testing 1, 2, 3, or some other technical glitch, yet many of us still have a great time and laugh. SL is so much more than partnerning and SLex. The art here is very well done. The music great. I'm had a terrific time for the most part even with all technical probs... who cares if we dance with our feet missing? I don't. I still have had a great time on SL. Heck, just say no to free sex, and start charging each other. Hahaha, kidding, of course, but you all would get some nice SLuff, instead of a broken heart over SLtexting.

Idealism can be enforced to work on a small scale, but it doesn't have structure enough to deal with large scale. a saner approach is conditional idealism, or as I think of it, enlightened self interest... after you've secured your immediate wants and needs, take what resources you have to spare that won't be missed and contribute them to a common purpose. that's not an idle suggestion, it's how I live... spending time helping others learn the skills to do or get what the want from their own efforts, instead of relying on others to do it for them. this eases the burden on others, makes the individual more able to contribute, and pushes the whole system farther forward than backwards... because it tends to create more resources than it uses, especially if that resource is knowledge. That was so well said. The last paragraph reminded me of a sign I saw once in someone's office which said just the opposite: "Give a man a fish, he knows where to come for fish. Teach a man to fish and you've just destroyed your marketbase." I read it and laughed and said something like, "nice sign". He went into a ten minute spiel, breaking down the original,"Teach a man to fish", idiom and explained to me why that attitude was " bad for the country". Scary, scary guy. Speaking of fishing... we have fish farms here (where I live) where you can catch fresh fish. They do very well profit-wise. This is something I've been thinking about -- investing in a fish farm. Fish farming could stave off some starvation in (some) 3rd world countries if they'd just get going and do it! The exact quote is "give a man a fish, you've fed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you've fed him for a lifetime."

Make shure to disable automatic updates when you first start it. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:Release_Notes Thank you Ieliel, I got the older V3 and works much better! Now I need to do some system cleanup, and hopefully things will be going along better soon. I got a few bugs from the newest V3, and just need a cleanup. /me happy!
  24. Update on V3: I just tried searching for hidden SL files, found them, deleted them, and got an install of Imprudence. Nice viewer and my stars twinkled for the first time and it looked pretty. However, it took over 20-30 minutes just to try to rez scuplties, invisprims, and other items. I then uninstalled Imprudence, run disk cleanup, rebooted, looked thru Google Chrome to see if I could find original V3; thought I may have, but no it's the V3 newest update. On the newest V3 viewer update, I have to set my RVLod at at least 4.750 just to get correct rez without stick looking shapes. On the last V3, my RVLod was 2.350 for good view, but would always reset at 1.750. RVLod set at 1.750 was adequate enough for now. I think running this new V3 with a RVLod of 4.750 is too laggy and too difficult for my computer to run. If we have to keep setting our RVLod too high, remember it will slow us all down. I need to think of another viewer soon. I will have to try FS beta and a new spyware, UNLESS someone knows how I can retrieve the V3 viewer before this one as a 1.750 RVLod was good enough; the 4.750 is just slowing me down too much. I can log in though to pay my rent though until I have more time to work on this. Any chance I can get the other V3, or could it be stored in my downloads on GC somewhere or did the update override the last V3?
  25. Yes, I keep the gesture noise off. I love it, also, as I want to hear the music. At certain events, I also like bubble chat, so the incessant chatting/gesturing doesn't obscure the screen. I switch back and forth between bubble chat and regular chat depending on the event. So to clear your screen of the chatting or gesturing, you need to go to chat, and click on use bubble chat, that puts all the avi's gestures and chatting above their heads, instead of on your screen. Bubble chat is great for most of the music events. Try it! ETA: Once people's chat and gestures are in bubble chat and pretty much off your screen, on some viewers you can pull up the local chat window so it sits as a little window on your screen, so you can still chat in local chat this way, and move the much smaller local chat window off into an area that doesn't block what you'd like to view. If I'm not explaining this correctly, it's because I've been through so many different viewers. Anyhow, try the bubble chat and then see if you can pull up your local chat into a little window so it doesn't take up so much of your screen. Or, for some events, just leave bubble chat on; it's so easy to switch back and forth with bubble chat and regular chat. I use bubble chat quite a lot, and also pull up the local chat window and set it to the side, less view blockage that way.
