  1. It sounds very much like your main avatar has much more information to load while it's logging in and maybe the connection is being interrupted during that process. Ensure you have a good and stable internet connection, using wired not wireless wherever possible. Phoenix will give less problems than Firestorm, because there are less features to load also. Ensure your computer has enough RAM available to run Firestorm also. Other answers will follow. Please keep checking back here.
  2. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Dilbert is correct. There are still some hours until the end of the auction, and bidding can continue. You have actually purchased the parcel of abandoned land adjacent to the auction plot. No one has cheated you out of your L$.
  3. Dak Deed wrote: She is back on an alt.. how do I know?? She cussed me out.... She threw a tantrum at us for reporting her and getting her banned over it. If I file for live help they tell me to file in game on abuse.... If i file a ticket they tell me to file in game abuse. More ideas??? Dak Deed I hope you haven't said anything at all to this person, not to admit, not to deny ARing her. While she threw a tantrum, you should have kept her chat visible on your screen and submitted a new AR, keeping it brief and factual as possible, and including a screenshot. LL should then delete that avatar too, and possibly give her an IP ban. Eventually, the majority of griefers blow themselves out if they get no attention. An inworld AR is always the way to go.
  4. I agree with the others. This has gone far beyond acceptable behaviour, and is a matter for the RL law enforcement/police in your locality. Do not worry that they will not take you seriously, because they will. I hope that you and your partner/ex-partner are ignoring your stalker as much as is possible; do not even let them know your intention to contact police etc. Maybe a police caution will be enough to give them a short, sharp, shock, as a ban from SL by LL would only be likely to fuel their fire, by the sounds of it. Good luck to you.
  5. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Adonnaberti It would be really useful if you would click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" to add your system specifications. It may be that your system is up to running some of the viewers, but not the ones with added features, such as the Second Life official one. Edited to add: What Chic says is absolutely true, hence why I ask for system specifications. On my older computer, I found that just adding a couple of GB more ram has enabled me to use the more modern viewers that have all the fancy stuff, like mesh etc.
  6. You were editing your post, as I was composing mine. We were both on the same page regarding bots there.
  7. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Billie Everything causes lag! But of all the things that are encouraged in Second Life, it's avatars, because behind every avatar is potentially a paying customer who will add something to the Linden economy one way or another. If the avatars are just a selection of alts/spare accounts that are being used to boost traffic numbers, then that is against Terms of Service, has been since the new bot policy came into being around 2011. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Bot_policy Of course, if you are renting land, and the person to whom you pay the rent has it is in their rules that you are not allowed to have any more than one avatar on your land, then you'd have to take up that rule with them. All in all, it sounds like a ludicrous rumour that has come your way.
  8. What message are you getting when you attempt to teleport to Bikini Bay? If you don't own the sim, the managers/owners may have temporarily restricted access to the sim. However, for any number of reasons, the sim could have gone offline and not come back up again. This can be confirmed if you contact Support via Live Chat. Any resident can report a region offline in this way.
  9. Good luck! Hope you have a happy outcome to your problem.
  10. Greetings, Pete Please read this Knowledge Base article; about halfway down it talks about what to do when you have problems rezzing coalesced objects. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Building-tips/ta-p/700041 It sounds like you possibly need to submit a support ticket to Linden Lab and ask for access to Unpackistan sim.
  11. Alternative accounts (or "alts") are exactly like any other account. Some people have a main avatar, and several alts, and people have many different reasons for having alts. I have my main avatar (Marigold Devin), and my secondary alt is this one (Echo Hermit), but I have various other alts that I have used for beta test group purposes, and also because I have sometimes roleplayed different characters in Second Life, and prefer to have different alts for different roleplays. Everyone is officially allowed to have up to five avatars per household, and all can use the same email address, or they can have different email addresses.
  12. A lot of places have a dress code, so I don't find it at all unusual that you were expected to wear something other than swim shorts on to go round a museum. Anyone who owns their own land/sim has the right to ban anyone they choose to. Whether they're being stuck up or not, that is their choice and their right.
  13. Yeouch! This is a new one on me. If you have a tendency, though, to log into the Second Life website under different account names, ensure all are logged out from all different areas of the website. And use Firefox browser. Try it at any rate. Other answers will follow.

I am interested in the dark side of things since under my Regal Facade is a dark and blood Welcome back to Second Life. While you've been out practicing taxidermy on your collection of roadkill and barking at the moon, the rest of us have been rolling in catnip and catching butterflies - at least I think that's what that man running behind me with the big net is trying to do ooooooooo oooooooooooooooo :matte-motes-agape:
  15. Trin1 wrote: If I mention what he did that will tell everyone who he is and I don't know how that would affect the ar process. AR. AR. AR. If he did something that only a Linden could do with their God tools, but they were not in on a Linden account, then there is some kind of breach of security going on, and that needs ARing. This does not prove they are a Linden alt at all.
  16. Phil Deakins wrote: Ah. Understood. I'm curious though. Did he do anything that he shouldn't do? If all it was was someone saying he's a Linden, and he agreed, and that's all it was, it doesn't matter. Anyone can have a little joke. There was (is) a smashing young woman who frequents these forums under several different names which are not kept a secret, and she made a new account where her name looked like linden and was promptly suspended on all accounts for several weeks. LL are not keen on certain jokes where their personnel are being impersonated, even if - as with the young woman who frequents these forums - they are only encouraging upbeat morale with the residents.
  17. Welcome to Second Life Forums, Bianca In case no one approaches you offering to rent you land, please also look around the forums, as there are plenty of people offering land for rent. Good luck!
  18. haha - I forget who I am sometimes as well. I went and signed my real life signature Marigold the other day! (I am not well in the head)
  19. Trin1 wrote: one person said he was the alt of a linden and he confirmed it, so yea AR sending now. But yeah I know ARs are ignored because I've been ripped off a couple times (my transaction history proves it) ARd it and nothing ever happened, never got my money back and the person never got punished, he even made a point of laughing about it. But, anyone impersonating a Linden WILL be acted against. Just submit an AR, with screenshot of occurring dialogue. Linden Lab will then look in to the issue, while you move on and enjoy the rest of your Second Life.

But yeah I know ARs are ignored because I've been ripped off a couple times (my transaction history proves it) ARd it and nothing ever happened, never got my money back and the person never got punished, he even made a point of laughing about it. I have a wholly different experience of the AR process. Regarding why Linden Lab did not step in to get you your money back from the person who you say ripped you off, that would be classed as a resident to resident dispute, and unless you can prove the person who ripped you off makes a habit of ripping other people off, Linden Lab are unhighly likely to get involved. And why should they? If in real life you are ripped off in the same way, you do not go directly to God, or the President/The Prime Minister, you politely ask the store/service for a refund, and then if they don't respond satisfactorily you take it to the next level. Just because you submit an AR does not mean to say Linden Lab will (or should) punish the person about whom you have complained. Life is does not work like that. Second Life does not work like that.
  21. Please know, Sheila, that there are always people here on the Forums/Answers who will try to help you if they can. Computers are almost like humans, they need a lot of tlc and a bit of pampering from time to time. I have just recently added more RAM and given everything inside and outside a good old clean up, and it runs better than it did when it was new. Wishing you the very best that your situation improves
  22. Trin1 wrote: Who do I report it to since AR's are ignored anyway? Firstly, ARs are not ignored. And so, what you need to do is submit an abuse report inworld, ensuring that the chat screen is open, and you tick the box on the abuse report form to include a screenshot. If a person does not have the name of Linden and the Linden Lab icon on their profile, then they are not a Linden. The alts of Lindens keep themselves very much private.
  23. We need "reply" button on these Answers. Grrrrrhhh!!!! Greetings, by the way !
  24. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Amie Have you recently downloaded the latest version of Phoenix? If so, you needed to ensure that you fully ininstalled the previous version before installing the current version. Also, please check your graphics card drivers are up-to-date, and check your internet connection (use wired as opposed to wireless whenever possible). You can add more to this thread by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of the screen and "edit". As valerie says, it would be very useful to us, and more helpful to you, if you would also provide us with your system specifications. There can be other reasons why a person is unable to log in to SL viewers.
  25. I don't know anything about Mac's Having available 237.13 out of 499.76 means you have enough free to run SL, but again I do suggest removal of any unnecessary programs or general clutter from the hard drive, a disk cleanup and defragmentation. Mac should have "help" feature, to talk you how to do this if you do not know. Wishing you luck, Sheila. (And there is no "reply" button on this answers section, which we are all quite grrrhhh!!! about. You did right to add more exactly as you have done - by editing your original post, and by using permalink. )
