  1. Really not wishing to burst your bubble, but any money you earn in LL while playing any of these games probably won't offset the costs of wear and tear to your computer for logging into Second Life. There may be other skills games in Second Life, but to answer your question about which one would be best for you to attain your goal, that really depends on your own abilities with skills games.
  2. Cosplaying is popular in Second Life. I have also seen plenty of people inworld who resemble Sonic, although they are not a direct copy of the character. Disney characters and Hello Kitty have been strictly removed from Second Life the world, and Second Life Marketplace, because of copyright, and anything that has copyright in real life can potentially be reported to Linden Lab or the owners of said copyright and removed. You need to read up on the Second Life Terms of Service to be absolutely sure what is acceptable, and what is not. http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php#tos7
  3. Most people in Second Life don't have the same privacy issues as yourself, and so the default settings when joining groups suit most people. I will admit that when I first became a resident of Second Life, I felt very hemmed in/cornered and rather paranoid about people being able to see when I was logged in, and although I made use of the block/mute button, I found also sometimes people would come in on alt accounts just to talk with me. Looking back, I am flattered by this attention, but also realise that these people were just too needy, and what I should have done with them is what I would do now with them and that is just not communicate with them unless it is convenient with me. Don't hide yourself away. But realise that you do not have to respond to anyone's IMs or orders, any more than you have to answer a ringing phone in real life. While it's nice to be wanted and needed, it really is not pleasant to be contacted by someone just because they are bored and lonely and don't know what to do with themselves in Second Life. Just don't expect the privacy settings to be changed any time soon, because LL would like it if we all did enjoy social networking.
  4. Welcome to Second Life Answers, MissEpiales This does sound like a classic case of bake fail, which is usually caused by some kind of interruption between the Second Life servers, and your own computer. Please take a look at this link for more information about this problem, and how to solve it. http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/bake_fail And note that although the remedies contained within were designed for the Phoenix viewer, they actually work just as well for all viewers.
  5. But sadly there may still be an ongoing problem with inventory servers being full. The last I heard was that Maestro Linden said this issue was still being worked on. Therefore, all I can suggest is you contact him via IM next he is inworld and see if there is any update on this situation, or even pick the brains of the Second Life Beta group on Agni, see if there are any more suggestions. You might, for now, have to make a brand new alt and see if you can log in using that.
  6. Firstly, bear in mind that ... You might be able to log in, as I just did, by changing the start loging location to Wengen.

    Grafik

Hallo, Noctis You need to go the website for your graphics card. Your graphics card needs an update of the drivers. The latest drivers for your graphics card can be downloaded for zero euros from the website of your graphics card manufacturer.
  9. Hugsy Penguin wrote: Yes! I remember collecting these. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1: Looking at the properties of the cards, I was collecting them around August 2005. If I added everything up correctly, here's my collection: 2x Andrew 4x Babbage 4x Blue Brent Bub 3x Char Chris Content 2x Jack Jeff Jeska Jill Jim 3x Lee Michael Mick Nigel 2x Nova 3x Pathfinder Phoenix Rheya Uncle 2x Vektor West 3 I think there were a lot more to get so I'm sure there are those with a larger collection. I wish they still did this, they were fun to collect. BTW, these aren't calling cards. These are collectable prims in the style of baseball trading cards. On the one side is the Linden's profile and the other is the SL logo and screenshot. Good grief! For real? That was obviously way before my time. Second Life must have been a lot more fun back in those days too, like a proper playground.
  10. Perrie Juran wrote: A recent comment in a thread prompted me to look at something I hadn't looked at before and I was seriously shocked by what I found. Some of us here remember the days of the ARC Wars. A serious blemish in the history of Second Life. In the never ending quest to fight lag and to lay blame for it, people started looking at this number called "avatar render cost," or "ARC" for short. And bedlam took over the grid. All of the sudden there were ARC Police showing up everywhere pointing fingers at anyone who's ARC number was not in 'the green.' They would IM you and chastise you for being in the 'red.' I even witnessed the public humiliation of Avatars when one of these ARC Police would announce in Local Chat, "Everyone want to know why you are lagging so bad? Blame it on So and So. Their ARC number is off the scale!" It was a terrible time in the history of Second Life. So now Linden Lab has introduced a new standard of Measure, Avatar Render Weight (pops). I had never really looked at this till a recent comment prompted me to and was amazed by what I found. Just as in days of old, Linden Lab has chosen to color code the numbers, as your cost goes up, the colors change till until you are, gasp, IN THE RED ZONE! So the past few days I have been watching these numbers. I believe it is at 40,000 units you pop into the RED ZONE. And just about every where I went almost everyone was IN THE RED. We are talking about 99% of the Avatars I saw were IN THE RED. Stopping by a well known Formal Dance club, the average Avatar (males a little lower than females overall) was weighted at about 130,000 units. One girl I saw there topped the chart at around 220,000 units. At other clubs 80,000 to 120,000 units was about the norm. I never saw any one in THE GREEN. (OK, I know in the official viewer it's 'yellow,' but I mainly use Firestorm). So I thought to myself, lets try a nude beach. And while the numbers decreased dramatically, most were still in the RED. So soliciting the help of a friend I started looking at what was causing these high numbers. Some of the most common and biggest culprits were Prim Shoes. Shoes from some of the top designers were adding on average 40,000 and even more points. Pieces of Jewelry would add 10,000 to 20,000 points. Prim feet would add 30,000 to 40,000 points, hence the high numbers at the nude beach. You can do your own tests to see what other things do. So what is my point to all of this? Linden Lab needs to get "real" about the issue of Avatar Render Weight. Most of us want to look good in SL and the fact of the matter is you can not do it with out going into what Linden Lab has designated as THE RED ZONE. Color coding the numbers at the current levels is completely out of touch with reality. And if it is indicative of how they are dealing with the problems of lag and region crossings, then the problem is even bigger. Unless they want us to spend all our time naked in SL. just my two cents worth. And this is the main reason why I hang around on my own around the grid most of the time. No one can have a go at me for having too many scripts on, or being too blingy, or not wearing mesh (f*ck mesh). Although there is rather a splendid nudist beach I do like to hang around at. Naked volleyball anyone?
  11. No. But a few of my buddies traded Giant Snail Racing Cards like these
  12. Aww Noel Knowl, of all people, I wish you one of the merriest Chistmasses and brightest new years of all. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  13. Good luck, Vallay, I hope your sim is soon working correctly again.
  14. How very frustrating for you. I haven't been using V3 official viewer much these past few weeks, but am having no such crashing problems in editing with Firestorm, and certainly for me, it's a lot more user friendly in that I can tweak and adjust where my buttons go. I can't think of words that would help you specifically, and certainly you are entitled to a rant, better out than in rants prevent strokes and heart attacks I should think. However, Viewer 1 isn't going to make a return any time soon, and some of the third party viewers based on the V1 code will no longer supported. That is not to say they are not to be used. They still can be used. Maybe you would like to try another viewer. If so, please take a look at the Third Party Viewer Directory. Speaking again from my own point of view, viewers are like shoes; while some people are adamant one is much better than another, it is all about personal preferences, and compatibilities. Other responses will follow.
  15. Yes, Vallay, a couple of other sims have complained of this problem this week. If you contact Live Chat (via the same way you submitted a support ticket), opening hours of same permitting, they may be able to fix the problem very quickly with a restart. 16. Tut tut tut, what an image to conjure up just before my bed time, Stormee. I probably wish I was next to your bartender. Make mine a double ;-))
  17. Merry Christmas to the Moderators - God bless them, one and all :matte-motes-big-grin:

IS NO MATTER HOW MUCH THIS PERSON IS TRYING TO GET AT YOU! DON'T UTTER HIS/HER NAME. THAT GOES FOR NEARBY CHAT. MAKE LIKE THEY DON'T EXIST IN YOUR WORLD! I FOUND AFTER MONTH OF THIS GOING ON IT HAS STOPPED. SL CAN'T DO MUCH IF THERE IS NO THREATENING OF ONE'S PERSON. IT'S HARD TO DO. BUT WHEN THEY THINK IT'S NOT GETTING THE REACTION THEY WANT, HOPEFULLY IT WILL GO AWAY!. AND WHEN YOU DISCUSS IT WITH A FRIEND ALWAYS DO IT IN A PRIVATE CHAT! I WISH YOU THE BEST! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS AS WELL! JOE MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO, JOE!! Darn fine advice too. Always best, wherever possible, to ignore completely anyone attempting to harass in any way. Thing is, in real life, people are probably just as unstable, but we may meet them in less of a concentrated environment. Great thing about SL though is the features to block/mute and teleport away from certain folks. And back to the OP - I had quite forgotten about shields. Although I am quite wary about the use of shields in busy places, for sometimes it's quite easy for innocent people to walk into the shield's area and get bounced a bit. Anyway, definitely something you should test.
  20. Well he sounds like a prize pillock to me. Yourself and your GF need to completely and utterly put him into the land of the non-existent. Find yourself a cosy spot to sit together and quietly p1ss him off. One day you'll find he will have disappeared altogether, without you even noticing. You could also find a few new venues to visit, places that you don't add to your picks or anywhere that he could follow you to. This would help wean him off you.
  21. Sit on something, then it can't bump you. And continue to ignore it until it goes away.
  22. Do you want to buy a breedable pet? You may be inundated by people wanting to sell you breedables, but how will you know who is reputable or not? There are many breedable animals on the market, maybe you should take a look at Marketplace, visit places in world, join the relative groups, listen in to the group chat, see what you think. Breedable animals in SL can be interesting, rewarding, time consuming, or a bl00dy nightmare. (Other answers will follow.) Merry Christmas (I do not breed horses or any animals - I used to have chickens, but we got overrun with green ones and they kept dying).
  23. Snickers Snook wrote: Darrius, people have photographed the bots, named them and noted the traffic stats. There is almost never any real activity in the club itself but the traffic is consistently that of a busy one. I just visited. The club was empty but traffic was showing at 16K and there were 15 avatars at 630m. Maybe I am having a "noob" moment here, but the only time I ever saw chat come up in the chat window in green was when someone was using a scripted device to speak on another avatar's behalf. I visited the place in the middle of my night on an alt account, and although it was seemingly teeming with life, most of the chat was coming up in green. Is this yet another indicator of fake traffic, spare avs being used rather than bots? And only two places down on the Searches from the original named venue. Obviously someone competing madly and badly with the original cafe/bar, by unfair and foul means. Keep on with the ARs, but bear in mind it's yet another holiday period, so LL will be running on bare bones staff.
  24. Welcome to Second Life Forums, Pickapath Do not be worried. This is a very common problem.
