  1. Thank you for including the photo. That does look weird. Hopefully, some different people have logged into these forums who can add some new thoughts as to what you should do to fix this issue.
  2. I had a quick blast on CHUI viewer, and was really pleasantly surprised. Particularly like having the option to turn off notifications of people coming online and going offline - that has been a bugbear of mine since Day One. If you're keeping the interface that lovely shade of blue, I will be happy too. V2/V3 was gloomy and like looking at a dark hallway through a letterbox. And the chat window is very much easier to use than having to spot the little icons/boxes popping up in the right hand corner (where, incidentally, I prefer to have my minimap). Ripping off separate conversations, and minimising to a partial size or just to the usual small icon in a corner of the screen is much better in my opinion. Easier to dip in and out of conversations. Can we have resizable camera controls next please? These are just initial responses, and I'm focussing on the positives, as the CHUI viewer has addressed many of the issues I had with regular V3. Thanks.
  3. Welcome to Second Life Answers, TinaMarie It really does depend on if your request is do-able, but certainly you can submit a support ticket to Linden Lab to request the removal of the guard rail. I have known them be very amenable when it has come to the removal of trees that have been intrusive. Contact Support via the "Help" option that is at the top of this screen (the screen that "Help" takes you to has options on the right hand side, look down for "Contact Support"). I wish you luck with your request.
  4. You could try a regular support ticket, MicahB. Click on the "help" button at the top of this screen, then the next screen has a list on the right hand side, choose the option to "contact support". But if Support are unable to help you - and I hope they can - they will undoubtedly direct you to JIRA. Please keep us up-to-date, and of course, if I discover a solution to this, I will throw it your way.
  5. Welcome to Second Life and to Second Life Answers, dogdayking I see from your web profile, and by your recent actions, that you are very new in Second Life. Sandboxes are not really the best places to be attaching male parts. In fact, as the Linden-owned sandboxes are usually PG, you could actually be suspended for wearing visible male parts. You really would do better to find some friends first, rather than focussing on your manhood; many people are sympathetic and helpful towards newbies. They can often point you in the direction of private changing areas. Knowl's idea of flying high up into the sky also is a great idea if you want privacy. You will discover many private places are built up to 4096m high. There is much, much more about all of this, to be gleaned from the official Second Life Knowledge Base (see tab above). Don't forget to have a good read through the Terms of Service and Community Standards too. http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php
  6. ... and have you seen some of the little ponds/pools that sit outside some of the Linden homes? They are too shallow for even a paddle, so cannot even be fishponds. And some of the houses appear to be floating away from the ground on one level. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of the landscapers have very odd vision. I'd go with KarenMichelle's answer and buy a parcel of mainland which you can decorate any which way your prim allowance will let you.
  7. If they sent it to you in here, then I'm sure they'll re-send the message once they've seen this thread. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  8. If you save IMs and chatlogs to your hard drive, you should be able to retrieve the message. Look for the Second Life "roaming" folder. Depending which computer system you're using, look for the folder as below: Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[your own username here]\Application Data\SecondLife Windows Vista: C:\Users\[your own username here]\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife Windows 7: C:\Users\[your own username here]\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife Mac: /Users/[your own username here]/Library/Application Support/SecondLife Within the folder for your avatar, you should be able to see who IMd you most recently.
  9. I think you're just going to have to keep reducing it by .1 per sqm. I've seen land selling for as cheap as .3 per sqm, and would guess .2 or under will bring a landbot coming.
  10. Welcome to Second Life Forums, Avilon You might just need to update your graphics card drivers (see the nvidia website to see what the latest version is). Also, if you have only 2Gb of RAM, you might be running low on system resources. Do ensure you free up as much space on your hard drive as you can, disk cleanup and defragment. Other responses may follow. Also, you may wish to compare your situation with that of another person who posted here just yesterday ... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Avatar/Someone-please-help-me-with-my-Avi-He-s-broken/qaq-p/1776339 Not wishing to overload you with information, is it a specific avatar/outfit's alpha that causes this issue for you, or alpha layers generally? If you wish to add a photo to show us more clearly what is happening, please upload a photo to this thread - using that little icon at the top of your post that looks like a tree.
  11. Throw a LM my way inworld, and I'll add my AR to the pot.
  12. I'm giving myself a headache zooming round previous JIRA threads that might be similar to your problem. Check this one out: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SH-2902 Doesn't give help as such, but certainly gives you a reason to submit a new JIRA for your issue.
  13. Thank you for providing the extra details regarding your computer's specifications. I think you've possibly baffled us on the Answers. There have been, over the years, people with the problem of partial invisibility, ie avatar looking opaque, and it has seemed to be down to type of video card, but others, for whom there has been no fast fix available here, have gone on to submit a JIRA. Other responses may still follow here, though, which you should receive notifications about in your email. If and when you get a solution, I hope you will return and say what worked for you. The thing is, if you haven't tampered with any of the settings when you've downloaded a viewer, I don't understand why your avatar wouldn't look as normal as any other avatar does, and the fact that you look odd to others too, and others do not look odd to you, makes me almost certain it is something LL's end. However, I have to stress, this is pure speculation on my part, based on own experience, and we're all learning every day.
  14. Originally, when I went in on an alt account, I could see the sim, but not TP into it, or walk into it. About 45 minutes later, I was able to too. Must have been fixed.
  15. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Masoon Please contact Live Chat. They may need to restart the region. Every Tuesday/Wednesday, Linden Lab carried out maintenance to sims, and maybe your sim did not restart properly after this week's maintenance. To find Live Chat, please click on the "Help" option at the top of this screen, and then you will see options on the right hand side of the screen for Contact Support. Or to go directly, click this link... https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ NB: Live Chat is subject to opening hours, but this will be advised when you click on the above link. **** Should you wish to add more to this thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit". Good luck !
  16. YAY, I'd definitely go for the land bots option. It's such fun to tease a landbot in this way.
  17. Hiya Steve, Has anything changed on your computer recently? Are you using a different computer? Are you using wireless? Have you got plenty of RAM free? I notice you first made this complaint a few weeks ago. Maybe you just need to check you have the most up-to-date drivers for your graphics card.
  18. Hello, MicahB I see that you have been having problems regarding visuals for more than a year now. This really must have something to do with your graphics card. Please post your computer's specifications here, including type of graphics card. Some graphics cards are incompatible or untested with Second Life. This might be your problem unfortunately. You may also, if you believe you have a bug, submit a JIRA to the Linden Lab bug team. Look for the Second Life JIRA website for instructions on how to do this.
  19. Welcome to Second Life Answers, xxSpongebob Relog please, but change your login start location to Furball. What happens now with your avatar? To add more to this thread, please do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your screen and "edit".
  20. Welcome to Second Life Answers, KylieFox Please check your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. Check also your internet connection. Over time there may be many more users sharing your broadband service, this may be causing issues, so you need to carry out a ping test. Also, check how much available space you have left on your hard drive. Failure to have enough RAM can cause the symptoms you are describing, as can bad internet connection. If you wish to add more to this thread, as there is no "reply" button, please instead click on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  21. Imprudence is based on a previous version of the Second Life viewer, and back in the day, we all had first names and last names (as you can see from mine). Around two years ago, the choice of last names was removed, and you need to use Resident as your last name. So type in mwmiller1987 in the first box and Resident in the second box to log in.
  22. I'm afraid it's going to be trial and error to get a viewer that will work for you. On this machine - which is Windows Vista operating system - I get on best with an older version of Phoenix, or Imprudence. On my laptop, Firestorm latest version works really well. Regarding needing a new graphics card, as long as you maintain an older one which you've been using to access Second Life, there isn't really any reason why you should need to replace it. Keep your system clean and well cleaned out, ensure you don't run too many programs at once, and also make sure you have plenty of RAM available (ie uninstall and delete anything excess on your hard drive on a regular basis). Please try not to think of LL as the enemy. I don't believe they are intentionally trying to get everyone to upgrade their graphics cards, just trying to make SL work acceptably for the majority can be difficult. And again, I do stress that we all go through periods when it feels like we are getting pushed out of SL because of some kind of technical hiccups.
  23. Olaf Demina wrote: I am married in SL with Dia E. and as I logged into SL today alone , I met my wife in BDSM play. I was upset and asked her what she 's doing here. Dia behaved oddly and was recently speaking Italian, though they usually can only speak dutch and a little German. Her voice in voice chat was completely different and male. She said to me, things are not as it appears. She is not the right Dia, but an employee of Linden Lab, and she had just borrowed the avatar to control something. If that 's the truth , Linden Lab then violated the trust of its users very seriously and it is a scandal. But maybe it was just another user who has hacked the account of Dia. My question to all of you is: Have you already made similar experiences in SL, that other persons has captured your own avatar or the avatar of your friends? Thanks: Olaf I'm coming into this thread rather late, Olaf, but I hope the mystery has been solved for you by now. If that 's the truth , Linden Lab then violated the trust of its users very seriously and it is a scandal. But maybe it was just another user who has hacked the account of Dia. Or maybe Dia is a woman of many parts who you don't know very well, who has allowed another in her house to make use of her account. Guessing and speculation is wrong. If you know Dia well, you will know her well enough to have some contact with her outside of SL, and know that she must contact Linden Lab support to say her account has been compromised, as it appears it has been. None of us can say whether or not an employee of Linden Lab would be stupid enough to make such a breach of trust, but for sure, if they did, they would be very soon an ex-employee of Linden Lab.
  24. Most of the Linden people are Mac users too, so they also run into problems with some of the updates. Unfortunately, updates are necessary, not just with Second Life, but with all things computer-based. It's frustrating, but know we all go through periods of unrest. When you download an update, always remember to uninstall the previous version completely, to give it the best chance of working properly. Nothing in life remains the same. All is evolutionary. And we are all part of that evolution, so you are very much not alone.
  25. Hello again, Juels Often, things like cups of tea, or drinks, if you "send them back", they make a copy in your inventory. If you have detached all, but you still have something spamming you, something must still be attached to you, within something you are wearing. So, please look up at the top of your screen, as you use Firestorm, click on the first menu 'Avatar' and from the drop down choices, select 'Avatar Health'<Reset default (female/male) avatar. This will remove everything that you are wearing, and take your avatar back to the factory settings. Now, you need to find your favourite skin, shape, hair, HUDs, etc., and make your avatar how you like it again. But the script error message should be gone now. *** You can add more to your thread by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
