  1. Benny, aside from the graphics blur does SL seem to run comparibly well on the Retina? I really am on the fence about whether Retina is worth my extra $$... Thanks for starting this thread.
  2. Thanks so much, Venus and Dres. :} There're some amazing films in the contest already.
  3. My entry for MachinimUWA V: Seek Wisdom. It's a little odd, but was an awful lot of fun to shoot.
  4. Here's a still-shot from my to the University of Western Australia in SL's "MachinimUWA V: Seek Wisdom." I'm not much of a photographer usually, but somehow this worked out. :}And yes, it was mostly just an excuse to wear fantastically huge hair. :smileytongue:
  5. Marianne, do you have a style card for outfit in that photo? You look incredible!
  6. :smileyembarrassed: Thank you so much to everyone who commented. Berry does take some of the most wonderful portraits I've ever seen in SL.
  7. Wow, I've been gone from the forum for a couple of weeks and come back to 10 pages of gorgeous photos in this thread. Beautiful. I was inspired to a fairly drastic change in avi recently after some upheavals in RL and SL both. This is my first time wearing a dark skin after months/years of gazing at them wistfully. I remade my entire avatar to suit. Photos taken by the enviably talented Strawberry Singh, and with thanks to my friend Roo for letting me faun-ify and grope her a bit for art. :}
  8. madman626 Fall wrote: Well I not too surprise that LL will not supporting the black out ,, why would they its like this if you are clean you got nothing to worry about . This is actually why so many people are opposing SOPA though, madman: if it were only about being "clean" it would be great, but from an SL standpoint it could effectively stop all media streaming, which would close all our clubs, which would lead to sims being abandoned, malls being closed -- it could put a huge dent in LL's pockets, and on a much more serious side SOPA could hold LL accountable for the actions or content created by users, and SL could very easily be shut down.
  9. I'm sort of disappointed that LL isn't supporting the SOPA/PIPA blackouts today. These are bills that -- if passed -- will affect internet freedom for all of us worldwide, not just Americans, and on a narrower focus would certainly affect us in SL.While I do agree with stopping internet piracy, SOPA and PIPA are vague and ridiculous bills that would put far too much power for net censorship in the wrong hands, while doing very little to acheive their goal. SLUniverse forum has gone dark today to protest along with international user-generated sites like Wikipedia and Boing Boing. I guess I expected to see something from LL about it today. :smileyindifferent:
  10. You can create a new group in any viewer. I'm not inworld right now so forgive me if my memory leaks, but if you're using Firestorm just click the People icon at the bottom of your screen, hit the Groups tab and then the "+". It should give you the option to create a group. :}
  11. Here's all the information you're looking for, Trin. :} There's still a $100L one-time fee for creating a group and you'll need a second person to join up within 2 days or it'll be disbanded, but other than that... have fun!
  12. Eloise Baily wrote: I've torn it down 3 times already. This is not my forte. I get this! :} I flooded three-quarters of my 4096 parcel and turned it into a shallow sort of row-boat pond-paradise, purely because the choices (and subsequent indecisions) were becoming too much for my buildy heart to take. Well... possibly also I did it because I was at 1000+ prims just furnishing my house. :\ Take your time and enjoy it though-- and I still want photos when its done!
  13. Sigh. :} I love that blank-canvas feel... although I get so focused and nest-buildy that I neglect friends for days until every sunbeam and lillypad is perfect. At least you have some amazing inspiration... ETA: Will you post photos when it's done? Maybe a home/land photo-thread is in order soon.
  14. I used to have a massive functioning "bat cave" next door to me haha. It was on an ideallic tropical sim which, until that point, had been beautifully landscaped en-masse by a whole group of my friends, but some land opened up... and this new guy apparently felt it needed an ugly towering 40x40x50 blob of rock to keep his batman suit/cars in. He kinda made me laugh lol, but geez. Derender derender derender....
  15. This sounds like a great contest, Doll. I'll be there! :}
  16. My pleasure, and welcome to the forums, Bonnie.
  17. You're already a Resident just by posting this. :} The first couple of ranks go by fast, I think.
  18. Ooh, fantastic lighting, Muffin. You have a sort of post-apocalyptic quiet. I love it.
  19. Poenald Palen wrote: Well, not only to RL homosexuals seem to be here BUT....some roleplay those types I think! This is all hear say, mostly abotu lesbians... plus, some other stuff I noticed in forums and on the net....people are fascinated with gay jokes, poking fun at each other when a wrong word or typo ect. So...yeah, people seem to think gay people make up like 25% of the population of the earth, and those are just the ones they see at grocery stores...they are everywhere! I'm not entirely sure what your point is in all this, Poenald? I'm assuming that if the OP wishes to do a gender study in SL and is calling for "male-embodied avatars" she's very aware - and interested - in the fact that some RL women choose to have male avatars and vice versa. If you play SL you have to accept that everyone has the right to represent themselves as they wish -- male, female, furry, neko, quad, whatever. Sexual preference, on the other hand, is generally considered an innate part of who we are, and therefore unless a person identifies as either bi or pansexual in RL, any RL straight guy in a female avatar who's interested in relationships will tend to identify as lesbian in SL, and and any RL straight girl in a male avatar will tend to identify as gay. Equally there are plenty of straight avatars played by gay people, straight avatars played by straight people, GBLT avatars played by GBLT people -- etc etc. What does it matter? You did bring up the issue of a girl being distraught upon finding out her female-avatar-partner was a RL male. That's something probably everyone here can empathize with, but it brings me back to my first point: if you're here, you shouldn't be believing that every pixel in front of you translates literally to how a person is behind the screen. If that were true we'd all be gorgeous, and about 10 feet tall. :}
  20. Hi Wolf, if you don't have one already, the first thing I would do is log in to SL Marketplace and grab one of the freebie "undeformers." Most avatars need a deformer to squish/stretch you from human to animal, and they have a habit of getting stuck. Also, in my experience, deformers that aren't detached correctly will show you looking mostly right in your viewer, but to others you'll look stretched out, and you probably won't notice until you cross a sim border, TP or relog. Hope this helps. :}
  21. Oh rofl! To think, I've been prudently guarding my contest kudo this entire week, weighing and debating all these entries for their avatar-progression... and yet, what's missing has been laughter. :}
  22. Please help this poor guy, Marigold. I fear I cannot. :smileytongue:
  23. Is this the first time you've bought $L using this card, Siris? I had an issue a few months ago where I wasn't able to purchase $L for about three days, and it wasn't until the second day that LL posted a note on the grid status page acknowledging it was a problem. I would wait a while longer, or contact billing support: How do I contact support regarding my local payment? 24. Wow, I want to live in your house, Love. That's beautiful.
  25. That outfit is amazing, Kelli! I love love love the second pic.
