I think its kind of funny. LL has made it so you can't see what other viewers are in use because of security. Obviously it has nothing to do with security but the fact that the LL viewer was used so little and they just wanted to hide that. So now if you are interested in finding out who can and who can not see where your looking, you have no idea. That sounds more like a security concern than just seeing what viewer someone is using. But IMHO who is looking where and what they are using to look there with is not a security issue. But LL has successfully upped the drama by hiding tags, IMO.

I just got a new computer last week. I downloaded gimp 2.8.0 and when I run it I get three windows scattered across my desk top. I know almost nothing about gimp, is there a setting to make it one window?

I use Imprudence a lot and one thing I like is the “Disable minimum zoom distance” under “Disable camera constraints”. In V3 I can find the “disableCameraConstraints” but what I can't find is the Disable minimum zoom distance. Hopefully I am just not finding it, rather than like some other things its just not there. I find it so helpful in adjusting tiny items like earrings and pins and pieces of things. So if someone can tell me what is it called, and where do I turn it off, or adjust the minimum zoom distance I would appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

Wow, a draw distance of 256 meters, I never go over 120 or so, even with Imprudence. And I don't think I have any settings that are maxed out. My computer is about 5 years old. But I think I have solved my problem, at least it better solve it. I just ordered a new computer. 6 core, win 7 x64, 8 GB DDR3-1600 memory (got 4 x 2 so I can add more later if I need to). Will be a week and a half to get here, spent money on computer and not shipping. Thanks all for your input. Crosses finger. --||-

@Nyll Yes, I now have an Asus GTX 550 Ti 1G mem. Drivers are up to date and have been taken back and then brought forward again. And the video card is only a little over one month old replacing my 8800 GTS 512. Same problem with the older card too, as you saw in my other post, forgot about that one . Another reason this is so sad. @Peggy If you don't have a line, then could I ask what settings you are using to take photos. And your OS too. I am using XP Pro. Could that be where my problem is? I am so happy to hear that others don't have the problem, that means maybe I can fix the problem. Thanks.

Wow, that would be really great if you could make the Beta the bad guy. But no, it is the same with the latest V3 too. Nice try though.

I have been playing with V3 for a while now and have decided to start using it for more than just standing around seeing where its parts are. One of the things I do in SL is take photos so I have a history of my SL, but there is a line across my photos. Why is there a line across my photographs? Yes I know if you make the photo very small the line is not there, but then the photo is useless. I am using the Beta Viewer because .254524 was crashing a lot. I am not getting as many crashes with the Beta, but then this photo thing, ewwww. I have seen this error before but thought it would be fixed by now, new viewer and all. This is a show stopper for me. I am going back to Imprudence.

When I log into SL, most of the time I start at the grid status page. Sometimes there will be a message something like this: We will be performing rolling restarts for regions on the Magnum, BlueSteel, and LeTigre RC server channels shortly. Please save all builds and refrain from rezzing no copy objects or making inworld L$ transactions. But if I do not check and I just start SL viewer, there is no mention that this is taking place. How about a little flashing box or something that just says “server updates”. If you click it you are taken to the grid status page, and that could save you some potential problems. And a side note, I can't read the server restart message without hearing in my head: Colonel Sandurz: Prepare ship for ludicrous speed! Fasten all seatbelts, seal all entrances and exits, close all shops in the mall, cancel the three ring circus, secure all animals in the zoo! {I guess it's just me }

I like that fact that I have a proper name. I look at some of the names in SL now and just think, how sad for them. And the saddest part is that it can all be taken care of easily. Just add one line to the sign up and a very little code and its all taken care of. “Your user name can include one space as long as it is not the first or last character.” This way everyone will have exactly what they want. Don't want to worry with a proper name, you don't need to. Don't like a string of unrelated character as your name, make a proper name. But what about the avatars that already have funny names? Okay, what about them, there here, leave them alone. They can do what every other avatar has done over the years, by the millions, MAKE AN ALT. Hey Linden Lab folks, think of all the new sign-ups you'll git out of it That will really look good on a graph. And as far as Display Names go, they are a good idea if you like Through-Away-Names or you do RP. They are temporary, great to play with but a lot of people just do not pay any attention to them, at all, in any way. I always look at the user name because the display name will most likely change, but the user name is there for good. I have an Alt and she uses a display name (my little test, same display name for over a year, never changes). I can not find her in search using her display name. Have tried numerous times, have never found her, and yes the show me in search is on.

I'm not sure I understand this thread. Are you saying you base your friendships on a check box?

I know what rubber banding is and what I am seeing is not that. Everything stops for 10 to 20 seconds and when it starts again it does not toss me back, I am where I ended up when I could not see what was happening. I run people over, I walk off the end of things, no telling where I will end up. And as for memory leaks, I thought that was a program problem, not a system problem(?). But thanks for the info, some things to look at.

@ Emil Only one 6 pin connection to hook up on the Asus GTX550Ti. FPS are always very high with Imprudence (use it most of the time, don't care about mesh) but V3 gets stinky low in busy places, and almost all I do is go to live events. I have been trying to use V3 but not very happy with its performance, even with this new card. It is better than my 8800 but not by as much as I expected. My FPS still at 10 or so in busy places. Well I just tried to go to a show and I am getting 4 to 7 FPS. At another show now, 2.5 then up to 6 FPS and less people. One thing for sure, this is not how you get people to stay in SL, I just have to much money invested to walk away. Thank God for Imprudence.

I also have very low FPS with V3. I just went from an 8800 GTS 512 to a GTX 550 Ti w/1G DDR5 (last month). I was expecting to go WOW when I started SL but it was more like, what is going on, I know I installed the new card. The drivers removed prior to taking the old card out and the latest drivers installed with the new card installed, and only one power connector on my card, 6 pin as I recall. Imprudence is running better with the new card, but V3 has little change from the 8800 to the 550 to the way it runs. I really like the direction V3 is heading but it would be nice to actually be able to use the new bright shiny pieces. I use Imprudence to do things, I use V3 when it is updated to see if my in world experience has gotten any better. Still waiting...

@ Dilbert Thanks for the link but it did not help, in fact went the other way. @ Peter Wired connection to Linksys router, router to house cable modem. Have tested speed many times and have always been pleased. Don't remember the speed exactly at the moment, just remember it was excellent. In skybox at 4000m, Ping Sim around 100-120, Packet Loss 0.000% Went to a busy sim and ping went to 500-1000 with loss still 0.0% Right after a TP back to skybox, ping back to 100-200 but loss at 6 % for several seconds and then back to 0.0% Standing still in skybox, ping 100-150, loss 0%, FPS 12. Imprudence in same skybox FPS over 100. Thanks for the help.

The problem, viewer (LLV3) freezes for ten to twenty seconds and my hard drive goes wild. After the ten to twenty seconds I “come back to life” and everything is fine. It would not be so bad if I would be standing in the same spot as when it started, but, if I am walking I have now run over everyone in my path, or, I have walked off the top of a building, or, walked into an area that has one of those things that ejects you. When I come “back to life” there is no telling where I will be. Is there some setting that will stop this from happening? I use Imprudence most of the time and am only playing with V3 for now, and I never have this problem with Imprudence. I am running an AMD Dual-Core CPU running at 3 GHz and an nVidia GTX 550 Ti w/1G memory. My connection is Cable and fast enough to keep 4 gamers going at one time, and this happens even when I am the only one in the house online. Any help would be appreciated.

I am firmly entrenched in the “I Don't Care” group. I use Imprudence and all I see are odd shapes if I see it at all, few people are using it where I go so that keeps me in the I don't care group. I do play with V3 a little, its looking better all the time, and from what little mesh I have tried in the way of demos has not impressed me, at all, I am not changing my shape to fit clothing, no. Could be its still to new. But my biggest problem with it is the cost, it is to expensive, maybe next year I'll take another look at mesh but for now its a no go for me.

I was getting the same message your getting for about three hours using V3. I don't know if it had anything to do with it or not but I logged in with the V3 Beta and got right in. I logged off and then logged in with V3. Could be just a coincidence but it got me online.

A full viewer is a daunting task, how about just Tools instead. Viewer 3 is making great headway, IMHO, but I would like to see pages and pages of tools, not the limited few that are there now. Some pages of Tools would require a restart of the viewer, some would not. One page of Tools to Make It Easy for Me. What is needed is so many tools that the first page you get is an index to select what kind of tool you are looking for. Everyone likes something different and Viewer 3 with its Tool Bin is ready to make everyone happy, yes everyone. I never thought I would see the side bar thing go away but its gone, (thank you, thank you, thank you), so yes, changes for the better can happen. Hey Oz, if your still reading this, how about a Tool Bin Team, one new Resident suggested Tool every day week. Well, it sounded good to me.

There was another thread, Can't log in, always freezes. I was having the same problem and this is what I responded to the other thread. Although I don't know if it helped them. The chance of you having the exact same problem is slim, but I thought I would at least put it out there for you. My PC was freezing up shortly after starting SL, all viewers, and the only thing that fixed it was replacing my mother board memory. The only reason I even replaced it was because my son had bought some memory that he did not use and it just happened that it was exactly what I needed. Memory is an easy replace and all my lockup problems went away.

Thanks, I was wondering what the circles were and why I was seeing them on so many tops that I have. I like light colors and that makes them show up more. But as has been pointed out by a number of you, its the avatar mesh showing up. Thanks everyone.

I have noticed on many many tops that I have, that where there might have been a nipple bump, there is a circle. In most instances it is hard to see, that's good, but in a lot of others you cant miss it. I don't make clothing but assume in a lot of cases photos are used. Is a nipple bump illegal? Does it change the article of clothing from PG to Adult making it harder to sell? Is it part of the build process that just is, and is unintentional? I was just wondering what was going on and this looked like a good place to ask the question.
