Thank you for the reply, but I found all that. I guess my concern was the statement: As rebaking a region may be a time intensive process, I was hesitant to click the button due to the amount of people around. (About all I do in SL is go to live events.) I am thinking that something that is time intensive and is a server process is going to cause lag, and I did not think that was a good idea. But it looks like the only way to get rid of the button is to click it. I guess my only other question would half to be asked of LL, if someone updates something on a region (server), why does everyone need to do there own update. If a new prim or avatar or something shows up, I don't need to click an update button to see them, so why this. Oh well, I have never been accused of being good at this game.

I have this Rebake region button right in the middle of my screen (closer to the bottom), how do I move it or better yet just get rid of it?

I see posts here all the time about Firestorm and Phoenix so I guess it is okay to post about other viewers here, so this is my problem. I started using Nirans viewer about a month ago and love the FPS being so high. I have finely found a V3 viewer that works and has gotten me off Imprudence. But I have one major problem with it, all the menu windows are so transparent that you get MAJOR bleed through making some menus almost unreadable, and some times I just can't read them. Any thoughts on this, I like the viewer but hate finding a black wall so I can read the menus, and that only helps most of the time. I have found a place in the viewer to adjust that but I have them as dark as I can make them and still have the problem.

I have seen that a number of times and its always for the same reason. I have on more than one walk AO. Look at what you have on, some shoes have a walk AO built in. If you get two of them going at the same time its a problem and what you are talking about is what I see. Hope this helps.

Your comment; Computers are having trouble running SL, is most likely the one biggest problem LL has right now. I like V3, but at 5 FPS at a dance (or less), I can not run V3. If new residents are having the same problem, what in the heck would keep them around. They can spend the first week watching things rez, its a little like watching paint dry. In business its location, location, location. In SL its viewer, viewer, viewer. Because if you cant see it, you cant play with it. I just got a new 6 core PC and good video card and was expecting to see SL in all its glory but was disappointed when I logged in and it made little difference with V3. I have switched from Imprudence to Nirans viewer after giving up on V3. With Nirans I can once again see and use SL with frame rates around 30 in the busiest places, and up to and over 90 FPS when its not busy.

I am not to adventurous when it comes to trying new viewers. Have been using Imprudence since the demise of Emerald. I did used Kirsten's some and liked it. So what you said about Niran's Viewer “I call it a decedent of Kirsten's Viewer”, I had to give it a try. I have not stopped using it, I loaded it and logged on and love it. Could not even walk at first, but all viewers have a learning curve. Finding things is a challenge but that has never been a complaint about any viewer. I'll find what I am looking for or ask for help. And I don't care if a viewer changes often, as long as the changes are not just out and out stupid and don't do anything but remove things that are useful. The frame rate is good, the look and feel is good, I think I may have a new viewer. Thanks for the post.

I don't know if this will help or even be what your talking about but... I purchased a laptop in SL and rezed it, and it sends and receives e-mail (kind of). Sends e-mail and you get e-mail back as IM's. The e-mail address is the same, as long as the laptop is rezzed. Take it back into your inventory and rez it again and you get a different e-mail address. I sent myself an email and the return address was about 20 or more alpha numeric characters long. Don't have a place to rez it now so can not even play with it to test and tell you more. Check the MP for laptops, they said e-mail included before. This was several years ago so may have changed now. Just looked on MP, yes there are still working computers that do this.

You have said a lot and I thank you for the input. But nothing about the newer USB3 that has a “theoretical maximum rate of 5Gbps”. USB 3.0 is also full duplex. I do not expect to see that speed but it should be interesting to see how it works if I can point my SL cache at it.

@ reply all Like so many others I have an alt. Right after I made her I saw someone say that having a small inventory made a difference if how well SL worked. This avie has around 35K inventory and I see no difference, aside the initial download time, of how the two of them access SL. My alt now has around 17K inventory and does not appear to be slowing down due to it getting bigger. But like everything else in SL, and RL for that matter, you could see something very different than me. There are just to many variables to take into consideration. Just my 2 $L worth. And just a note, my daughter uses wireless internet and I use wired off the same router. Its wireless N and she gets a faster connection than I do. My 100 mbps wired connection never comes close to her connection speed of over 130 mbps almost all the time. Now all I have to go by is what the systems report and what hardware we have so I don't know if this is all on the up and up, but that is what is reported by our PC's. I don't know if an in home wireless network qualifies as wireless service, but it is wireless, and fast. She has an avatar but thinks SL is boring and has not been on for years but has no problems with her other online games.

Hey Torley... I am at a total loss as to where else to put this. How do I get back to a conversation that I just had? I am talking about in Second Life, from Second Life, using Second Life. There was a communicate window, now it's gone, so, how do I get back to a conversation I just had? I thought Second Life is a social network as well as a virtual world. If you can't even talk to someone you just had a conversation with, that is not social, that's rude.

I like the name Second Life and think it is a very good fit. I have never heard 'porntopia' but I have heard people in the news saying that there is porn it SL. But that always makes me a little sad. Porn is in SL and in RL, if fact there is most likely no city you can go to in RL that you or someone else can't find porn. Where as in SL you can go to sims where there is no porn. So in SL you have a better chance of not seeing porn if you don't want to. I don't look for it and almost never see it. But that could be just me.

Always load textures at full resolution, sounded like a must have setting. But I turned it off and went back to the store and all of the boards loaded quickly. I went around the store and there was not one board that did not load. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I know of that little trick and do use it. But I find it works only some of the time, today it did not work, just as it has not work many other times for me. 3 out of the 4 add boards would not rez in.

I have played with the HTTP setting and from my experience having it off gives me the best results. I have found that turning it off if it is on will sometimes help and turning it on if it is off will sometimes help. But most of the time I find it works best if its just left off or unchecked. I checked the box when in the store and that did make one of the add boards rez in but it did not help the others that would not rez in. Its off again now. And I still don't know what the “Always load textures at full resolution” is for, I keep it checked but, as with the boards, I could see them but could not read them, definitely not loaded at full resolution. Also, I did not purchase the fingernails, I need to know a little more about what I am looking at to spend money on it.

What you have said makes me somewhat hopeful of what I am going to try. My new Windows 7 computer has USB3 ports and I have ordered a 16G stick to use with ReadyBoost and/or try and use for my SL cache. It should be fast but if it will be as fast as a ram disk I don't know. Did not use fast mail so still a week away from getting here. Fingers crossed.

I don't think I am expecting an answer to this, I am posting mostly out of frustration and just venting. I have two avatars, this one that only uses V3 and an alt that only uses Imprudence. I like V3 and what it can do but what I am posting about is why I just give up and log on with my alt to do anything. Today I am in a store that I frequent and I was looking at a fingernail pack. There are 4 boards and I waited for them to rez in. After about five minutes one rezzed in all the way but the other 3 did not. How long did I wait, not sure of the time but there is one lucky chair near by that has mesh clothing, I got two tops and a dress from one lucky chair while I was waiting for the add boards to rez. I left the store and came back, I panned around, I kept my pointie thing on the board... I logged off and logged on with my avatar that only uses Imprudence and went to the same boards and in ten seconds all of them were rezzed in. I say ten seconds but it was more like 5 seconds but giving it the benefit of doubt I will say ten seconds. Okay, now you ask, but what about your system, what are you using... CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor (3311.18 MHz) Memory: 8139 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Okay, not bad, but what about your internet connection. Well it can't be to bad and this is what I go by. The house has 4 people in it and all of us are gamers. We can all 4 play online at the same time with no one complaining about there connection. And today I was the only one awake and the only computer connected, sounds to me like my connection should be at least somewhat okay. Now for the really sad part, this is not an isolated happening, I have this problem all the time with V3 and the same thing happens when I log off and log on with my alt, can't see with V3, no problems with Imprudence. Is it just poor coding in V3, I know it is doing more than Imprudence but give me a break, rezzing in an add board can't be that much more work for the viewer. I frequent these forums and have gotten a lot of good information, both from answers to my questions and by reading others questions and the answers given to them. I have used these answers for settings in my viewer and have done clean installs when I think I have mucked things up beyond fixing. (FUBR) Does V3 just hate me or do others have similar experiences?

Thanks Peggy. From the sounds of it the speed of the computer may play a part also. I was going to go really big but think I will start around 1024 mg and see how it works. Thanks again.

Interesting video Cousin, but has nothing to do with my SL. I do not use face book or tweeter for anything related to Second Life. My SL is all about entertainment. My entertainment. I go to live shows and that is just about it. Well I do shop a little, can't go naki to the shows I agree with the video as far as social media goes, but my SL is not social media, its only entertainment. When it stops entertaining me, I will leave. @ Qwalyphi See, your not to late.

Never to late. But it sounds like people will never get in SL but spend there time here and then say, hey I could be on Facebook doing this, and leave, and never come back again. Another reason I am glad I don't have a face account.

Went to my.secondlife.com to look at my profile because of problems from on-line, could not see some things. (I use Imprudence.) From my.secondlife.com/(my avatar name), under Home, what is Trending, what is it for, and why is it so full of stuff I know nothing about (and don't care about), and how did all that "stuff" get in my Profile. If someone looks at my Profile, do they see it, and think I put it there? I saw nothing on my profile that said what it was for so asking here. Really confused, still (SOP).
