Some further updates / announcements in regard to the future of SL.

While we appreciate the super, awesome SecondLife Time, mega premium bundles, naturally only available to the the most well off individuals in this time of financial crisis.

Might we trouble you for the following.

1. Preview of the mobile SL viewer. We are curious, show us a thing!

2. Further information on the migration from Open GL to Vulkan.

3. NUX avatar progress, update and potential release date?

And suggest the following as an absolutely amazing birthday perk and better alternative to the limited life offer (hint).

Purchase Premium Plus at $10 off, per month, for life if purchased over the birthday period. $19.99 a month. Saving $120 a year. Taking into account that not everyone can afford to cough up $249.99 for a yearly plan at the minute. If you can offer that kind of discount yearly, you can offer it for life, monthly, for the birthday period. Providing the avatar keeps paying for PP during that time.

Once purchased, get a homestead for no setup fee, only pay first months tier, if purchased over the birthday period.

One free name change, only usable during the birthday period and only for those who take up on the above Premium Plus offer.

FYI, this is a Resident-to-Resident forum.  Linden Lab will not be reading your post, unless someone "Reports" it.

Note that in general, when we DO get advice from Linden Lab employees in the Forum, the instructions are often to "Submit a Feature Request" (which means "File a JIRA").

However, these type of threads can be interesting conversation starters.

Anyway, thank you for participating on the Forum!

I considered that, I will submit one. I doubt they will listen but for a 20th birthday event, I was hoping for more is all.

I think "this time of financial crisis" is what sent me over the edge in the original post. While there are always individuals in unfortunate circumstances, the overall economic situation is about as good as it gets (see employment statistics), especially considering the naysayers have promised a recession just around the corner for almost two years running. Anybody still buying that, unless they're standing on line at a soup kitchen, have some irrational need for bad news. Especially those in the tech sector affected by layoffs: maybe this is their first time, personally, but this is the business. Those who can't remember even the dotcom bust should be grateful for the learning experience; it's long overdue.

Or maybe "financial crisis" was ironic and I'm an unwitting demonstration of Poe's Law. In that case, haha, ya got me.

That line was a part tongue in cheek and part serious. The PP lifetime deal feels like an offer, only available to the limited number of people who are able to afford it. I feel that lowering the cost of PP for this month, similar to the deal offered when PP first came about, for everyone, providing they keep paying for the service, is a much better perk for something like SL20B. 20 years is huge milestone, offering out that kind of perk to those who have that level of disposable income, kinda feels like a joke to those who can't afford 1700 dollars in one go.

Marketing is black magic to me, so take this with a grain of salt, but my intuition is that any lifetime deal generates more of a celebratory "splash" than would a sensible offer "similar to the deal offered when PP first came about". For years and years, residents have envied those who bought into that first offer of SL account immortality (before my time, for sure), and it's frankly exciting to see it offered again, and again only to a select few (such limited availability making affordability almost moot).

Now, after the SL20B excitement dies down and things return to normal, maybe LL Marketing needs something to spur subscription upgrades through a slow spell, then maybe a sensible little fire sale will sound like a good idea.

Probably doesn't hurt to plant the seed now, come to think of it.

In addition to that, there were so few of those $1700 US packages available, I am certain they would have been snapped up very fast. It was not really much of a perk, given how few people it was available to. I agree that some kind of deal that would have been available to more people would have been a nicer move for the 20th birthday.
