I have read in this forum that some users have been facing this problem lately.

Three weeks ago I was not able to log into SL and two days laters, I could for two days in a row. Suddenly I can't log in any more. It has been a little over two weeks being off.

1. I have tried to log in after checking SL status and no problems with the service.

2. I have run Outgoing Port Tester and all the port are working well.

3. Ihave contacted my ISP and my network is working well. I am even paying more for having increased the bandwidth.

4. I have cleared network cache.

5. I have used several viewers.

None of that has worked so far.

I was going to change DNS to 8.8.8.8. 8.8.4.4., but is already set like that.

I appreciate helping me find a solution.

Try connecting to different regions. That message means that the login authorization was successful, but your viewer could not connect to the region server of the desired region.

Try region "Natoma" (the classic Ivory Tower of Prims), or "Caledon Oxbridge" or "Electra" or "Burns". Those are all safe regions that are almost always up.

If all of those fail, this isn't the problem.

What about trying your ISP's DNS server(s), instead of Google's ones ?...

As an alternative, if you are worried about spying (ISP DNS as a result of national laws, Google DNS for commercial/profiling or spying (NSA) purposes) or censorship (ISP DNS, as a result of national laws enforcement), then your could try dnscrypt. Be aware, however, that using a DNS not located in your own country may cause the viewer to connect to CDN servers not located near you (this is not the issue here, since all SL sim servers, involved in the connection process, are hosted in the US on AWS, and not on CDN servers), meaning maybe a slower rezzing experience.

I sometimes get that that error message too, when the sim region I was last logged into (and logged out of) is currently restarting, was closed, or was deleted.

Do as @animats suggested from your SL viewer log-in page, instead of logging into the usual "Last Location", type in a different region name instead, such as Natoma.

Hi all!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.I have tried logging in at different regions (not only home) and it didn't work. I have tried two different VPNs and I could log in. Sometimes SL crashes after the first hour and I have to return. Then it won't crash again. Last Sunday my avatar looked like an orange cloud to everyone (even to myself) and almost all my folders in the inventory looked empty. I tried relogging several times and I gave up after an hour. I read somewhere that using FS 32 bits usually works for machines with 63 bits. I tried that and it worked, but I know it is not a permanent solution.

Yesterday I received a notification from Windows saying my W10 needed to be activated. That let me to believe it is the root of my problem. I didn't know my systems engineer had installed a corporate W10 version when he replaced my mechanical hard disc for a SSD last December. I don't have the key and I don't think I should continue using that W10 version anymore. Today I decided to do a clean install of my legit W10 copy I got when I updated from W7 to W 10. Guess what? My W7 key does not work leading me to believe the back up registry was wiped out or deleted. I could not activate my W10 today. I will try doing a W7 clean install from an original CD I bought and then upgrade to W10 hoping the legit key works.

I'd like to read your comments.

:)

Second Life Viewer should work fine on Windows 10 / 11 that has not been Activated.  I tried it with Windows 11 when building this computer and it does work.  All of the above are 64-bit versions.  If you only have 63-bits then you may have deeper problems.

Thanks. I have already tried two. I will try some more. As of today, the legit W10 version I installed in my PC is from 2015. I still haven't been able to log in SL because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll and MSVCP140.dll are missing. I tried to download  and them manually, but that didn't work.

Right now, I am trying to update Windows to 2022 using version 22H2. Wish me luck!
