hiya Lil, welcome to second life, you can check the 'destination guide' for some places you might want to explore, I am pretty sure you will meet some interesting people sooner or later, I know this is a slow moving process but remember we all went through that phase the first weeks after our rezz day *meows*

Hi Lilqutiez and welcome to Second Life! there are literally many ways to find and interact with other peeps, I'll name off a few:

open up your map, the green dots are people, find a clump of them and go check it out

like Wildcat said, open up the Destination Guide and go check those out, but I don't tend to find many that way

hunts! fun, challenging, rewarding and you run into all sorts of cool peeps, just Google SLHunts

groups, when you go to stores or sign up for hunts, you can join the groups and then there is group chat and you can talk to others there, you don't have to pay to join groups unless that group charges a membership fee. there's tons of free ones

clubs. dancing, djs, contests, people there looking to have fun. there are all sorts of clubs, find some you like

avoid the welcome areas, they tend to be full of immature jerks looking to harass new persons

have fun! remember SL is a huge place and there aren't a whole bunch of people in it at once, so it can appear barren most of the time, but that's cause everyone tends to clump together.

As in real life, explore the things you're interested in to find other people who like the same things.

Dance clubs are a good place to meet people. So are sandboxes, hunts & active groups with lots of people in them.

On thing to be careful of with TPing to green dots, though:  If there are just 2 dots on top of each other, DO NOT TP to them unless you're sure of where you're going.  Otherwise you could well end up in someone's bedroom when they don't want a stranger popping in on them...and that is not a good way to make friends.

Ouch! Good point Persephone! Yeah, just aim for clumps of dots. It's usually an event or dance or shopping place.

ehh ya just gotta strike up chat with people... Most "friends" probably won't last but some will.

Best to interact with other noobs. Heck when I started, there was a pack of us noobs that would run around, being confused together. Oh gyod we were a mess hahahah. But then you evolve, and learn things, etc...

In fact one of my friends from back in my noobie days I still chat with every so often.

but yeah TP'ing into someone's bedroom is not so good.

Nothing more aggrivating than trying to have some private time and here comes some bald N000000B asking how to get the money.

why? because she likes what she likes?

No.  It is because I want to take her at face value but it looks like a new alt drumming up business.  Maybe.  Maybe she just thought that tagging herself as an escort would be a way to meet people.  I don't know.  Thus confused.

Exactly.   (laughing)

My suggestion is visit places that interest you, or activities that you are interested in, such as music venues, shops with things you like, etc. Then as you visit, make friends that have similar interests. There are also several "hunts" usually for clothing where you meet and make friends as you search for clues. Short of that, give it time. The best friends are made over time and with similar interests. Welcome to SL.

Hey everyone! I just signed up for SL this weekend out of curiousity and really enjoy it, but I have no idea where to meet people and were to go to interact with people. Everywhere I go there is like 5 people who just stand there
:(
Any suggestions?!

Welcome to Sl Lil!  Look at the destination guild.  Chat with people!  Have fun!  Look at the map In world and look for high concentrations of people and tp there!  You may also hang out at my sim.  Look at my signature for the location!

Peace!

Hey, lilq. No one was assuming anything and no one was judging you. Your interests did say escorting, but now you have removed that. Even if you were interested in escorting or anything else, we all offered advice to your question and all was done I believe in a very helpful and friendly way. One person got curious about you and wondered if maybe you weren't one of the many fake accounts that tries to lure the unsuspecting into sexual encounters, that's all.
