Lawrence, I understand you're simply trying to get an honest opinion, but please understand that real people also make these avatars and many are very proud of their works. So please consider carefully when asking. I'm sure you would appreciate the same consideration yourself if your works were being asked about.

Now onto the topic of the avatar demo you purchased. You say you want a more mature or 'seasoned' look to your avatar face. Looking at the Ad I would say the shape provided fits the bill imo, and it is attractive or atleast the creator took on an approach for the avatar to be 'appealing' to mature audiences.

Personally for me when I shop either in world or on Marketplace, I either know right off if something is going to look good for me or if its going to be flexible enough to adjust to the point to meet my standards (I don't usually buy Demos, but that's just me).

That is key when look and shopping for various avatar builds. Is it flexible in it's permissions (does it come Modify, Copy allowed). Are there accessories offered with it? Is it easy to adapt to other enviorments (i.e. can I wear it to a beach or take it to a ballroom)?

There are alot of factors when putting together any look. My advice would be to buy demos, go to different venues where people congregate and take note of the type of location (like a casual dance club vs. an adult club) and pay attention to what is generally the norm for those places. And yes it's perfectly fine to set your own trends too if you're the type to venture into places where some looks really stand out but aren't overly offensive.

Also, have you considered maybe looking into some places inworld that might give you insight like, modeling agencies or  fashioni groups? You don't even need to become a model, but there might be some great advice or ideas you could use real time from atleast going directly to places that cater to fashion and looks in SL, just a thought. Blogs are great too, but inworld you have more of a chance first hand to see and collaborate what you're look for too.

Do you find it pretty? Only you can answer that.

Will people you meet find it pretty? It fits all of the accepted Western stereotypes for 'attractive female', so they probably will. Not everyone wants a busty, tanned glamour-model though.

Do *I* find it pretty? I'd kill to look that good in RL, but it's not the image I'd choose in SL.

Based on the images, it looks OK, but I'd have to see it in detail. That's what the demo is for. The shape is moddable, there are a tonne of skin & make-up options (I've no idea what "tattoo teeth glitter" is meant to be, though), and applier for a lot of popular mesh bodyparts.

If there's something wrong with the demo, I'd be cautious. In what way is it 'messed up'? If it has huge hands and feet, for example, that's to stop people just getting the free demo and using the shape.

Sorry, I'm not really asking if the work of someone is pretty or not.

But when I ask, it's because I'm new, and I don't really now what people consider a good avatar. A qualitty one. Maybe I think it's a good avatar, but when I use, later I'll find out it's just basic. It happened to me once, and now I consider buying an expensive avatar, but I'm afraid of buying much and getting a basic avatar, since I don't know the difference.

Just looking, I think it's good. But I don't know about the qualitty people care about. :( I really need a high quality avatar. Can someone explain me how I identify that?

You say the demo is "messed up" on your computer. I really don't understand what you mean. Demos have "Demo" and lines over the skin so no one will use the free demo. Same with the shape, it has deformed big hands and feet and it's not modifiable so you can change the abnormal parts and use it for free.

If other things than this is rendering wrong, you can not expect the full priced version to look better.

What is a quality avatar depends on what you want to use it for. An escort will look different from a model. (Well, in SL a lot of models look like escorts) :matte-motes-dont-cry:

I think this one has the beach model look. It does not have appliers for the Maitreya or the Belleza mesh body. Two popular bodies. Since you are new, you can start with a mesh body and use just clothes for it. You have not bought lots of clothes for the system body. You can read about how to use a mesh body here: http://meshbodyaddicts.com/mesh-body-tutorials/848-2/

With a  classic avatar shape, you just  wear clothes. Then it is the details, can you use the default avatar and ignore the faults?. If you sit or bend over, the default shape deforms. You will have some blockiness in the shape, and the breast form is not too impressive. The same blog as I link to over here, also has reviews of other mesh bodies, including closeups (NSFW).

For a bit more grown up face, I prefer YS & YS. It is not old, but it is more mid to late twenties than teenager. The quality and details is very good, the makeups more natural looking. Like this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/feelsobeautiful/14479722665/in/photostream/

Edited to add: http://alltherage4u.blogspot.no/2015/04/eleni.html this blogger show what I call "hot" avatars.

In addition to the other great suggestions mentioned already, I would go to several places in SL where you might take the new 'you' and see what other avies look like.  You might get some ideas that had not occurred to you as a new resident.  If you spot someone who has nice skin, send them an IM and ask them where they purchased it.  You can do the same with clothing and just about anything else in SL.

Good luck.
