In April of 2009 I started partaking of the old General Discussion (GD) forums.  It was fun and wacky!  Made a lot of good friends there.  We would post just about any topic we wanted.  Some of our posts would get whacked when our play got too naughty.  It was wild and fun.

Around October, November of 2010 I thought it would be far out meet some of these people in the pixel.  So I posted a new thread called "A Forum Dwellers Party".  Lots of people posted to the thread and said YAY!  Along the way a fellow forum dweller coined the name Hippiestock.   Everything was set and good, and January of 2011 The forum dwellers party took place (Hippiestock 1).  It was a sight indeed to see all these people rezzing in that had been apart of my conversations every day.  So the Hippiestock group was formed.  http://world.secondlife.com/group/6621d1b4-e621-137e-9308-88901555ce9b  We even got a write up the the Alphaville Herald.  http://alphavilleherald.com/2011/02/hippiestock-and-the-sense-of-community.html

On January the 21st we had another Forum Dwellers Party (Hippiestock 2).  This time the event lasted 5 hours.  I wanted to accommodate more people in more time zones.    A splendid time was had by all!

What I saw in the GD forums way back then, was a lot of fun, and also a lot of mudslinging.   So the Hippiestock group took on the philosophy of a hippie.  Such as this “To be a hippie you must believe in peace as the way to resolve differences among peoples, ideologies and religions.  The way to peace is through love and tolerance. Loving means accepting others as they are, giving them freedom to express themselves and not judging them based on appearances. This is the core of the hippie philosophy.”

So that is what I would like to do again this coming January for the 3rd Forum Dwellers Party - Hippiestock 3.  I would love for us all to get together, and lay down our differences for just 5 hours.  That is not to much to ask.  Dig?  Come together for a happening, in the spirit of peace and love!  And come and meet all those people that you have been conversing with!  Groovy!

So a Forum Dwellers Party (Hippiestock 3) will take place on January 19th 2013 at Lagrange Spaceport.  Peace and love all!

Damn you, Hippie... how dare you use my image without my permission?... jk... lol.

Seriously, for all you forum newcomers, or any forum dwellers that have never been before, rest assured that this will be one of the very best events you will ever attend in SL.  Say you don't necessarily get along with someone in the forum... doesn't matter... you'll be dancing side by side, getting along fabulously... this, I guarantee.

(As Hippie says) Peace ...Dres

.  Peace and love all!

Highlighting the date (see above)

For me Hippiestock is about honoring the memory of Max Yasgur, who was a Libertarian in his thoughts and actions:

"I hear you are considering changing the zoning law to prevent the festival. I hear you don't like the look of the kids who are working at the site. I hear you don't like their lifestyle. I hear you don't like they are against the war and that they say so very loudly. . . I don't particularly like the looks of some of those kids either. I don't particularly like their lifestyle, especially the drugs and free love. And I don't like what some of them are saying about our government. However, if I know my American history, tens of thousands of Americans in uniform gave their lives in war after war just so those kids would have the freedom to do exactly what they are doing. That's what this Country is all about and I am not going to let you throw them out of our Town just because you don't like their dress or their hair or the way they live or what they believe. This is America and they are going to have their festival. ”

[Max Yasgur to the Bethel town board prior to the festival]

I'll be there Hippie.

Far out Kinnaird!  Look forward to seeing you!
