There's an interesting report of a connection problem in http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Issues-with-SL-load-times/m-p/1484617/message-uid/1484617#U1484617

What makes this interesting is that from google this seems to be common to modems supplied by Virgin, a popular and growing UK ISP, which means we'll probably see even more of these.

Note that pingtest.net shows up the problem very well (and if you didn't already know, also note that the packet-loss figures are VERY important to SL's performance)

I am on the Virgin network, and having quite a lot of problems in this moment. Logged in on web pages and inworld, and yet  my computer actually shows me to have no connection whatsoever!

I know that Virgin are in the process of improving services (!!!)
