UPDATED!!!
Because of the release issues today we had to stop the roll before we completed it. We are finishing the roll Wednesday morning at 0600 PT. There are only about a thousand simhosts left to do. If things proceed as planned we will roll the RC channels the next day, Thursday. I have updated the dates below to match.

Happy Halloween! I hope your day was scary. Scary in a good way I mean. Did you find any of the Lindens in costume trick-or-treating? We hope to have a very un-scary release schedule this week. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough cough*
Second Life Server (main channel)
Magnum, oh patient Magnum, now is your turn for promotion. There are a lot of bug fixes being promoted including a few server crashes.

Second Life RC BlueSteel
BlueSteel has a project that has some refactored voice code. We fixed some bugs and cleaned up some code. There were some parcel issues with voice dots not showing up. There is more info in the release notes.

Second Life RC Magnum
This project contains an update to the Havok Engine to keep us inline with the latest updates from them. There are no features or bug fixes and there should be no impact to vehicles or physics. Please file a jira if there is.
  • No Bug Fixes
  • Upgraded physics engine to Havok 2011.2. This brings in the latest work from Havok. We do not expect any noticeable change from this upgrade, but please let us know via jira if you see any new physics related issues.
  • Implemented llSetKeyframedMotion (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetKeyframedMotion)

We will be monitoring this thread during the next week so please feel free to post issues that you feel have been introduced by the new code. Please file a JIRA for issues you find and post the JIRA link into this thread. It really helps us out. When determining if issues are relevant or not research is key. Tracking down exactly the right situation where an issue is occurring greatly speeds up the development process to get fixes in place.
I appreciate your help. Have a good week!

Trick or treat? !

I am a little confused, wonder if you could clarify. One of the Magnum sims isn't showing offline, but isn't showing online either.

So what I'm asking is, is Benjaminz sim one of the Magnum ones suffering problems of the week's deploy, or is it gone altogether? (I don't want to be giving wrong advice out on the forums is why I ask - sim is coincidentally Magnum).

Marigold the problems this morning are related to main channel regions only. If Benjaminz has a problem they should contact support, but support is a bit overloaded right now.

Ok a silly question ....  is this the first general restarts since the OS upgrade?   (I ask cos of the comment about servers not shutting propoerly, to this non tech person sounds like that could be OS related).

Nope. We've had a few restarts since the os upgrades. This was unrelated.

This problem does appear to have grown out of some of the server restarts, but the good news is it now appears to be fixed and things are running smoothly again.  For that we owe somebody a huge vote of thanks, and will owe them still more if the trend continues tomorrow and we do not get a repeat of this problem or worse yet a fresh problem to bedevil us. What we need now is stability so things can return to normal and not a headlong rush to more needless and untested additions, but that may be asking a bit much I fear.

@Wolf

That, Wolf, is sufficiently enigmatic to be downright Gnomish!

I think we owe Oskar and his team a vote of thanks, as was said above, for the hard work put in to get the recalcitrant sims back up (ours was one).

If (and it is a BIG IF) the dying sim issue is quashed, we will be immensely grateful.

You are right of course, Wolf.  More testing should be done and longer periods between leaps in features should occur, but the Lab's staffing and policies being what they are, it won't happen.  We both know that!:matte-motes-wink:

There were a lot of good fixes in that maint-server release. It's possible the issues you were experiencing were fixed in this release.

As for the issue at hand today with regions not wanting to shut down, we are needing to modify this weeks schedule. Release worked hard today to get the finicky regions back online. We were unable to finish todays roll because of that. Tomorrow morning at 0600 PT we are rolling the remaining 1000 simhosts that we have left. If all goes well we will roll the RC channels on Thursday. If we change that plan I will keep you updated.
