Does anyone have experience with the adoption of a child or teenager?

Today I tp around in SL and found a big playground with an adoption center.

I saw there sooo many ads from parents who are searching and other way round...very sweet kids.

How does this work?

When I get the notecard from a kid or teenager I choose I only have to contact this person?

Is this all?

I think about adopting maybe a kid cause atm I have a big house which I only share with my new dog and I think it would be fun to raise a little family.

It can be a great joy. Remember there adults playing on child avi's.

Most will pay there own way clothes and such.

But heres the kicker. Its like having an SL partner, you never know when there going to up and leave. I had 3 adopted kids and they were great and slowly but sure they all left. Probley off to play adult avi. Just like having a partner you miss them when they leave. But Id do it agian if the timing was right.

Unfortunately,  most of the people on this forum are not very familiar with Family RP communities.  Here is how it works....

You go to the adoption agency of your choice, pay for the parents panel and fill out the application, dropping your photo (make sure it is family friendly) and application notecard into the panel.

Next, you go and review the kids panels, when you find one(s) that you like, you will hit the "LIKE" button...if that child "likes" your panel as well, you are matched and you go on trial for a week or so.  Either of you end the trail at any time.

If the trial goes well and you decide to proceed the adoption will be finalized and you can get and adoption certificate.

As far as allowance and what not....keep in mind that being a parent IS a big responsibility, you need to (at the very least) be sure that you have a home large enough to accomadate your new family, provide lots of interactive, rp experiences, you'll have to deal with school, find thea doctor , etc.  It IS a big responsibility, but it is also very fun and rewarding and there is a HUGE Family RP community out there to give you lots of family things to do.

There are also options if you choose to have a baby as an introduction to the family life, again you will have to find a doctor and all the things you will need for the pregnancy and then once your prim baby arrives you will have to care for it, buy the diapers and clothes etc. just as one would expect for a new addition.

That's a lot of trouble to go through when all you really need to do is ask that escort you just hired to call you daddy (or mommy, as the case may be). :smileytongue:

Phil, something else I wanna ask you...could you give me the landmark of your shop please?

I need new things for my house and I wanted to ask If you can make special cuddle rugs with poseballs also?

I've sent the LM to you. You'll get it when you log in.

I already sell rugs with animations in them, but not just cuddle ones. So purely cuddle should be quick to make. We'd need to talk though. My rugs don't have cushions attached and I think that cushions would be good for just cuddles.

Yay Phil! I was confident that you will find a solution for the benefit of both parties.

I'll put a sign up in the store - "Brother and sister seeking parents. Used to sleeping in one bed, so individual bedrooms not essential" :)

I looked into this a long time ago out of curiosity and the basics are this:

You click and read all the note cards up there. You pick one and then they read your note card. If they agree to it you all go on a 'trial' for about 2 weeks. You do family stuff during that time I guess and get a sense for everyone's personalities.

There are apparently some 'mercenary' people who expect an 'allowance' i.e. pay for roleplay, I asked around and a lot of people spend 350L and up a week on their 'kids' for new clothes and such. I personally would not.

You can always state in your note card that you do not give allowances. That should weed out a few.
