I'm feeling a tad orange today.

The vast majority of houseboats are rectangles. I've always preferred the square ones. I like the squares for the open spot of water that I can fit a boat and some watery decor into, and have what feels like wider sailing room to get in and out. But I'm curious to see if we have anyone who has a counter preference for rectangles they could sell me on. It would be so much easier to find a "perfect spot" if I could see the appeal of a rectangle shaped houseboat - but I've not managed to convince myself.

All this talk about automated bans. But I just checked and the plot I AR'd late Sunday or early Monday (I forget how long before the above post I did the AR) still has the 5-second autoban going.

I believe you can even script this to collision detect and go phantom when an approved avatar hits it. I know I've put that on doors before that had weird bounding boxes so had to go phantom to be able to walk through them properly... And since invisiprim's don't really exist anymore. Just set up a mesh box that is a convex hull, using the default transparent texture set to alpha mask 255 (alpha mask 255 rather than alpha blend so it won't cause weird alpha layering issues). Unlike an invisiprim people will still be able to see inside - but they can't walk in, and vehicles and such harmlessly bounce off of it (I think this old issue of banlines was fixed though right?).

When I had autoban on my old mainland system I had it set to a matter of hours. Never to permanent. The logical fallacy of the concept though was that - do I really care to ban someone for any period of time if I'm not there when they arrived? If I am there, and they are a problem - I can just manually ban them. And even then I often go for hours. I reserve permanent for people who have availed themselves to me or someone I know in a hostile way over a course of time. I'm dubious of scripted perma-bans even on parts of mainland that have no covenant. I'd wager the scripted system should be capped out at X-hours; where X is some reasonable number. You should never have a system that's banning people you aren't even aware of. Lets imagine a scenario where I have extreme social anxiety and want people gone before I even know they arrived. - Get the parcel on mainland - Set up a 0-second warning eject - Auto-ban for say... 1-5 hours (anyone beyond 1 hour is pointless, just to give the user comfort). - Only set to work if a group member and/or object owner is currently on the parcel I can then look at my ban list when I'm online and make decisions. That's how you handle that. A 0-second warning zaps people before you can even see them rezzing - so you will only know it happened if the ejected person is your own testing alt (yes - I've tested this repeatedly back when I had one of these on mainland. One time... I thought I saw a cloud start to form. That was the most I ever managed to see on the screen with the avatar inside the plot). No reason to go beyond an eject to just outside the parcel. And mainland is the place for it - not Belli.

So that has been me at times. I have a mainland parcel that... shock, horror, awe, and boos abounding... PREVIOUSLY HAD a 0-second warning TP your butt home and at one point even had autoban on it. For random reasons it's not got that anymore. Back when it did - it was limited to the inside confines of a building. I tested to make sure that slamming an avatar against the walls on all sides would not trigger it. All the furniture inside could only be sat on by group members, and teleport was locked to a landing point OUTSIDE. So you had to really want to hassle me to get in there in the first place, and nobody driving or riding by could end up inside on accident (BUT lag COULD get you in there on accident so I removed the auto-ban, then removed the TP-Home for just an eject, and then decided no one was bugging me anyway so why bother... BUT... that's beside the point). Mainland or estates [that allow it] are the places for these kinds of orbs. Belli is kind of different. Now you CAN make it hard for people to hassle you in Bellie. Just set teleport routing to blocked. When they TP in they will land outside the parcel. Then put up a standard mole provided security system so when they walk in, they know to walk right out. If someone keeps hassling you - MANUALLY add that INDIVIDUAL person to your ban list. Other than an active harasser that can be individually banned, reasonable people will just walk right out on encountering the security device.

Usually right before I completely edit it into something very different.

I'd recommend going belli-compliant as the default and an option for 'use outside belli' given the comically absurd size of belli these days. I imagine half the orbs and such that people complain about were not set up in violation on purpose, but because people didn't know better or didn't 'read the manual'...

That's a non-concern for me at least. I've already done that with my main account. I only look at parcels that I not only like, but have sat there long enough that I'm not too worried about someone else beating me to it. And I'll only take an account P+ if I have 3 choices lined up. Fortunately other than houseboats my 2 favorite plots styles, campers and chalets - seem to be unpopular. LOTs of those are empty. Chalets have great interior layouts, and I just like the campers. That said, I AR'd that parcel when it's auto-ban got my alt, and the plot next to it that had some massive build overlapping the other plots (which is actually how I ended up in the neighbor's plot to begin with). I wouldn't be a "busy body" caring over other people's plots except that massive build was right there across a small gap from the spot I -was- thinking of going P+ to get.

Clever. That could get around having a laggy scanner too maybe? ************************ My alt just got hit by a 5-second autoban security orb on Belliseria a minute ago - when I was out looking at parcels I'd want if I were to switch an account to premium plus. Guess I won't get the parcel I was looking at if the neighbor has an autobanner on a river front houseboat. Anyone sailing by is likely to be put on the list.

Random thread addition: If I was looking for a security orb improvement for a linden home I'd want one I could shape better. Not the parcel, but say: 5x5x2m here, plus 4x4x2m there, plus this little piece right here. - The old Hippo orbs used to let me make a shape very precise so I could have the orb only work inside the walls of a building, even a weird shaped building. If the code to be able to do that is not laggy, that's the kind of orb that would get me thinking about a purchase.

I agreed with everything you stated but a minor quibble on this one. There was actually a 'giant boobs' mod for Maitreya that came out as far back as Maitreya 4.1 . I have it on an alt but can't remember it's name - it was not well supported and never updated to a 2-3 pixel change in the UV map when Maitreya 5 came out so now has a texture seam if you use high detail skins. Two large breast addons for Freya exist - one of them came out as an item hidden in an unadvertised skybox on mainland for a couple of years before it showed up on marketplace (I can't remember which of the two this was) - to get it you had to spot someone with it and ask them where they got it or inspect them, find the creator, and click through the picks for that person until one of them landed you in a mystery shop... At the time it was super expensive and had no demo and no information on the vendor other than a "buyer beware, no refunds" notecard if you clicked on it. So they were trying to be exclusive... Your point stands though - none of that stuff was ever well promoted. And if more "stealth addons" existed I failed to find them. With reborn they're all over the place and I'm also seeing it gaining pace with high quality stuff. Once I found the right deformers; the only thing I currently miss from adopting reborn is no 'physics' on the behind like Gen.X has.

Housing of course also has to outcompete Bellisseria. But I agree. For a plot on mainland or an estate if I were shopping for a house it needs to come in at a competitive price and land impact. I do have a mainland parcel and I've also got a list of house shops that I go to because they meet those needs. Now and then I shop around to see if somebody's better and unless that new somebody is likewise cheap, low land impact, and good quality - they don't get added to the list. (Also like with bodies, a lot of that shopping happens when I see a house on somebody else's land - most of my avatar shopping is looking at other people and wondering/asking where they got something). The thing about eBody being cheaper is that I actually spent more. Getting in the door was cheap - and once in the door on 3 alts I had to kit them out with assorted addon pieces that I wanted. I'm convinced that if a new body ever comes out - it will almost if not actually need to be free. And it's maker is going to need to then flood out a pile of addons and outfits as their way to make money. If not so cheap, people who are doing OK on their current bodies will wonder why they should switch. People had reason to leave Freya behind (the neck bump and hands splaying) - so they did. But they went with either whoever was active in support, cheap, or both. Gen.X looked to be launching strong with a lot of merchants - but I don't know where it stands now. I'm essentially just left to looking to see if something like 'fat tids' ever comes out for it - until then or some other thing to grab my attention I've moved on.

After all the fanfare on this and my own strong desires to go with gen-x which had so many things I wanted... I ended up on eBody Reborn. It was Mod out of the gate, and had the 'Mounds' addon which when dialed down enough gave me the look I wanted. Gen-X took too long to go Mod. They should have launched with it as it was an advertised feature. Waiting to be perfect before it's Mod was the wrong call - as having a Mod version right away would have only helped find issues faster. The new chest add-on is just trying to ride Maitreya;s winds of being for small busted avatars. Freya was always a choice for the other direction - curvy and more busty. "Fat Tids" (what's with these names...) was great on Freya for the busty look though it had weird nipples. Gen-X lacks anything there, and the built in genital prop down below, while great, seems to have angered all the furries for using the same rigging point as tails. A choice I agreed with Belleza on at the time, but am not certain of now. I don't care for the shape of eBody ReBorn as much - the butt is just odd. But I was able to fix that with an unscripted deformer which, since it was mod - I linked to the body and have been able to "forget about". Plus the pricing was intense, so none of my alts could get Gen.X, but I got eBody 3 times. I get that Belleza needs to charge because unlike Maitreya they don't sell much else other than the body. But the solution there is to start selling more mesh than just the body, rather than having the most expensive body on the market (that I know of) with not much in-house support. Yeah, they've had sales - but those require being around at the right time. I would love to support the body, but it's not going in the direction I wanted.

I've got this great river spot, and so while I love my sailboat, I'd really like a low LI one I could set to be useable by anyone who happened to come upon it and wanted to sail away for a bit. Especially if I end up with a boathouse or stilt house some time later on. There's a motorcycle in the background that anyone can ride off with, and a neighbor has an animesh horse set up for public use. But all the boats I find with really good sailing systems seem to be owner-use only. You can assign crew to take over while you're sailing with them, but not let people just sail off with a copy. (For both my motorcycle and the boat, I have a thing that replaces them after a few minutes of them being gone. NOT a banned-in-linden-homes temp-rezzer, but a perm rez if the item is missing on the 5 minute mark).

I think my point still stands. This thread was started by someone who wants their avatar body to not look like a crayon drawing. I get that personally; I have the same concern. You seem to feel people would only want an avatar that was more than a simple untextured prim in order to impress men. I find that dubious; but I guess... YMMV. If you don't care for an avatar that has any detail to it, I'm wondering how you've managed to camp yourself out in a thread asking for that detail.

If one doesn't care for anatomical detail, you can just get a pink crayon pen in photoshop and draw a line on the screen, then wear that as a tattoo layer. But once having your avatar look anatomically proper becomes a concern, good detail starts to feel important. I could care less what some rando guy in a sex club thinks. I want my avatar to look "right". Otherwise I'd put that crayon texture back on... the one I got as a freebie for sitting on a camping chair on my original main back in 2006... (if I could find it...) At least I got to learn early on how dumb camping chairs were.

So that they work with existing adult furniture. Tails can easily go animesh. Anyone who can't do that is an extremely smaller niche, as there are not as many use cases where you also need another animesh that itself couldn't go bento - but they are making a 'G-rated' version for those people in an update. The genitals being bento in that spot, is just an already existing standard.

I think I missed some posts over night but, at the event there is also a deformers pack from "Pretty Liars" made specifically for Gen.x - But buyer be warned: the 'flat butt' and 'hips down' deformers only work for Gen.X classic. The body that already has a flatter butt, can get even flatter... but the one with a Texas-sized caboose can only get down to about Colorado size... You won't have your own zip-code anymore if you dial it to butt size 0, but it will need it's own address until someone makes more deformers.

Right now there are only 2 good choices. Either Sensations, or get the new Belleza Gen.X body Both of these are bento, and can be somewhat posed, and work with your normal skin for the outer area. Both also have detailed inner anatomy including the 'canal' (word can't be typed here) and the urethra - which is more detailed on Belleza. From what I have seen all of the other choices are missing the clitoris. Some don't even have the 'hood' that would cover a less prominent clitoris. That's kind of an important part of the anatomy and for some people is even visible at a glance - so that it's so often missing is just... incel levels of weird. I've also not seen any other brands that have a fully detailed internal canal nor urethra - but these two elements won't be as vital if just needing it for 'walking about nude' photos. Neither can be posed enough to do photography of giving birth - but Belleza would likely not break if someone made an animation to pose it that much as it's built into the body by default.

They are almost certainly fishing for which bodies to support and which to cancel. Polls just get spammed by 'fan armies'. Even surveying the grid for what bodies you see in places risks repeat hits or missing hits due to time and place. But tracking actual sales is... the best way to know what actually sold. It sucks for anyone who uses more than one body at a time. Right now I'm buying for both Gen.X Classic and Gen.X Curvy because I haven't made a choice yet... But even that is a choice the merchant wants data on. For example, if I saw that everyone who bought a copy for Maitreya also bought for Kupra, and everyone who bought Gen.X Curvy also bought a copy for... Legacy. Just as a weird hypo - that might tell me useful data about customer groupings that I would not have expected. Any smart merchants should always been sharing a spreadsheet on Google Docs to tell them not just WHAT sells, but what things certain groups of customers buy. If I could find out that people buying my shoes were buying your necklaces - we'd want to talk.

I know SL is different than normal capitalism and people in SL think that if you bought a Form Model T back in 1907, you should get a free Ford F150 EV now in 2022. But that's how Ford goes out of business. Yes, SL has set a weird expectation of permanent free upgrades. But the body makers can't keep even so much as paying tier on their shops with that model. I got years out of Freya. I think 8 or so. For which I paid about $18 because I bought it full price back in the day when it only came as Venus. So... I've actually already been given 2 new bodies I didn't have to pay for. I just spent $39 on an upgrade after 8 years. I can't think of anything else I own like that. Granted this is SL - so in SL that sounds expensive when even for coffee it's cheap. Belleza is hoping they can get enough people to see things even partway like I've just outlined. It is a gamble... but right now they are moving a LOT of bodies. For them, that's 100% of the commerce - the initial body sale. For us... it's then what third party people will add to it. Right now, there's an absurd amount of stuff showing up. Past the events, I joined their discord a few weeks back in advance of this and for the last 3 days the channel noting new items has been dropping more things. Today it started ramping up into spam like levels of content. Some of which, by the way, is that at least one shop, KC, that makes a lot of shoes, has been going nuts updating old product FOR FREE to Gen.X. KC won't make a dime off of that. But they're not even most of that spam. Right now the stuff is coming out so fast that the problem is going to be that sales will suffer from people running out of 'SL budget' within days, and having to make lists of what to come back for. Before October 1st we were all saying in the 'Lara' thread that for a body to compete it would have to come out very big very fast. Gen.X has just done that. Obviously it won't overtake Maitreya at this point. BUT it will likely do well. It came out with massive support, a lot of fanfare, and pushed a LOT of copies out of the door really fast. IF any new body can succeed in today's saturated market - this was how to do it. I'm still not happy that it didn't ship with Mod nor with a lightweight version. But they did do a lot of things right, and if they honor their promise to put those updates out, then the reasons they delayed Mod and the lightweight version will be justified (the excuses they've given were good ones - it's just this IS Belleza and historically their idea of soon... isn't...).

This particular animation I'm using in this shot... sucks... It has horrible leg clipping. BUT... the point here is notice how far up my legs are bent, and that the pubic area is almost normal. Very little deforming. On all of my old avatars my pubic area would shoot out in some weird nightmare looking thing... including on the system avatar. So I've always avoided animations like this in the past. This one was in my AO, and I was cycling though them as I'd recently added them to this bench... and I just happened to notice the pubic area didn't deform. So I put on one of the bikini's that comes with the avatar for this screenshot (also checked with some bottoms I bought at the event - so far so good). As for this animation... it does clip everywhere else. But that's because the animation itself wasn't that good. It's too extreme. But that's the point here - even when bent to this extreme, Gen.X holds up. Now I can finally shop for some actually good 'hug my knees' animations.

The same basic analysis then applies to why bother with an avatar that has toes or fingers or eyes that can blink, lips that can open and close. Wouldn't it just be better to have a well painted skin for these? For any detailed SL art / photography, I personally want a detailed 3D model to use in the image. Even outside of intimate moments, if I my avatar is unclothed, I don't want to see high detail fingers, toes and so on and then have the anatomy in the torso just painted on - the result to me is visually weird. Intimate moments are then a whole other topic. I close the chat bar. If I want erotica I can get better elsewhere. That's a whole other topic though. For the avatar itself, if I want to create quality art, I don't want major parts of the body just painted on. My expectations for this body were a LOT lower than what I got. I did not expect the genital region to be fully detailed even internally, nor for it to be bento and thus poseable. There are other things that worked out above my expectations - but that's just the one in this part of our discussion. There are a few things I did not like, and they are stating all of those things are to be updated soon - so if that does pan out, I will end up seeing it as a very good purchase, and then budget it in for key alts. If not, I already see it as the best body I own. It's NOT as useful to me as Belleza V6 with the mods I made to that however. But once they make it Mod it will be as I will copy those tweaks over.
