  1. I can thoroughly sympathize. While I didn't seem to develop to ridiculous proportions, I did develop before anyone else. It was, to say the least, humiliating at times.
  2. You may be entirely correct, Dres, but in the medical community (which is my arena) it's a prevalent school of thought at the moment. This, by no means, makes it a definite, though.
  3. I will take you up on that! lol! As for the "insidious", erm..."helpful" hug...remind me to give you a copy of my "special" kiss...lmao!

Celestiall Nightfire wrote: Madelaine McMasters wrote: Celestiall Nightfire wrote: So, it's clear to me that this whole thread has been orchestrated by the scenes, probably through PMs here on the forum. A witch hunt of sorts. (I know I got several PMs) Which reminds me of a conversation I had inworld recently, where a woman told me that some new posters had told her they were leaving the forum. Yet, why would random strangers send IMs to someone to say they were leaving the forum? I doubt that's what happened. I think the woman send them IMs (Just like I got an IM from this same woman years ago on the forum) She also told me that new people have the benefit of "doubt" and might see the "troll" favorably. Yes, they might, until they get an IM and get pulled into a campaign. Years ago, there was a woman "troll" on the forums, and a whole thread sprung up to decry her actions. I remember Scylla coming to that thread to say how distasteful the public witch hunt was. Scylla was right. I said one person had IM'ed me that they were leaving the thread, check your chat logs. I'm pretty sure you said "one or two" people. (will try to find that log) (Also, woman, I'd never have named you here...just so you know) Madelaine McMasters wrote: This was after I had PM'ed her, advising disengagement. It's not uncommon for me to PM someone who's being dragged into a exchange of taunts, to suggest backing away. I will continue this practice, both in public and in private. And I approach people in private when I believe that making the recommendation in public is likely to raise the temperature, not lower it. I certainly don't PM people who are not already engaged, encouraging them to pick up a baton and start bashing. Yes, and I've encouraged people to disengage too. I've actually suggested multiple times to people that they ignore, which is the single most powerful option. (something you and I have discussed at length) I know that you don't encourage bashing, nor did I imply such. Madelaine McMasters wrote: You and I have had discussions in which we've explained to each other the effort we've expended to reduce these inflammations. I'm disappointed you now appear to believe I'm instigating them. Ah, Maddy this is a good example of how communication can be misconstrued. (see bolded above) I don't think you instigate flame wars. I do think that you try to "control" them. (as do I!) (and we both seem to fail miserably at it, but we keep trying....haha) I was referring to efforts to garner support (or anti-support as it were) against the "troll". Which is a form of campaigning. not unlike this thread. Madelaine McMasters wrote: When I said "new people get the benefit of the doubt", I was referring to there being no backlash for new people in a venue who take sides in an melee that may be driven by old personal conflicts. Those of us who've been around a long time, even if we're not highly engaged here, are erroneously presumed to know what's going on and to be aware of those personal conflicts. I think this can largely explain why you've been perceived as a member of a clique. You've had the misfortune to drop into the middle of a heated exchange as a known old-timer, but absent the current context. You take a side based on what you see at the moment, while others presume that you're aware of all that they are. When a new face arrives in the forum (and I mean a newly true one, not a face that's recognizable as a reincarnation within several posts), I think it's natural for there to be a honeymoon period. You and I don't get that benefit. We're presumed to know what's going on, and we often don't. So, we both agree that we don't know what's going on. Dammit! ; ) But, I think we also both agree that we know a "hurtful" or "belittling" comment when we see it. I see them all over, and done by multiple people. Often more egregious than those done by the known "troll". Yet, the people get a pass, or even "high five" type reactions by others, if it's directed at someone who others don't like. Which just further cultivates a climate of mean spiritedness. Because, jabs begat jabs, and things tend to escalate. Which is how RL wars get started, and threads like this. I agree Celestiall, I honestly didn't intend to create this mess. There had been a lot of talk of what trolling was and wasn't, and I just thought I'd post the definition, and have a little fun doing it. (I know, run on sentence). I apologize to everyone involved for creating this monster. I hope you will all understand the initial intent was not malicious in any way.
  5. My original post was not meant to be provoking. There has been so much talk of trolling lately, that I thought I would simply clarify exactly what the definition of troll is. That is all I have to say.

Knew it! I find her to be a boring troll as well. Absolutely boring, so I scroll past her words most times. I like to feed her every-once-in-a-while, as it's fun. That's okay, Storm. I don't come here to be exciting. You're assessment of me is not injurous in any fashion. Smoooooch!
  7. Phil Deakins wrote: The idea that "Trolls will only stay when they are fed or given attention" is true BUT... If a person continually posts but never ever gets a reply of any kind - as though the person is invisible - s/he'll leave. That's true. But it never happens that way. A response such as, "There was no call for that" or "Don't feed the troll" is attention. The troll has got some attention and will stay - coming back with things like, "I'm not a troll. What I wrote is true", and so it will continue and the troll is in his/her element. The trouble is, many of us do just that, and the troll is happy. This forum's troll has a couple of loyal friends/supporters, which, incidentally, speaks very badly of them, but they don't matter because the troll gets fed by the objections, and is happy. I don't see any realistic way for users to get rid of a troll on their own. The only way I can think of is to report any and all trolling posts (those that contain the insults and barbs), and leave it to the moderators to deal with. Each little insult or barb is only a pinprick on its own, but multiple pinpricks add up to real pain, and they add up to showing the moderators exactly what an individual is continually doing. So, if a continual troll keeps getting reported by various users, even when they are not personally involved, the moderators will surely do something about it. Merely wishing that a continual troll would go away, doesn't work. i agree with you wholeheartedly, Phil! :matte-motes-big-grin:

I think its more the hair, combined with the skin that makes her look more like a teen and the clothes add to that first feeling. Its never just one thing that makes the look. For example, I have an alt, who has a smiliar skin and still she just looks cute, but not like a teen. And to cheer you up ICade, in your forum picture I think your avatar looks like an adult Lol! Ironically, I wear a knit sweater and then a dancing outfit and my avi looks like a teen but when I bring out my Cupcake Dress and funky hair I look like an adult I agree, the skin coupled with the hair seems to be giving that impression. I'll keep that style for some of my avatars, I just think she's cute as a button and love it that way But thanks for the responses, I understand it a bit better now how people draw that conclusion. Thankfully I don't go to adult places often at all, only to fish and some stores so it's not an issue. And I apologise for having come off as rude when I stated that you have to dress a certain way to look like an adult, I wasn't thinking at all when I typed that >.< I sat down earlier, grabbed one of my glam affair skins and made a shape and hopefully successfully created a thoroughly adult looking avatar But for the record, I have never seen a teen with double D's Amethyst, not sure how frequent breast implants are in other parts of germany but where I live I don't know anyone, never mind a teen who has them and I am paying attention lol. x3 The bold portion is what I am responding to; (Giving away my age range here...lol) I have an ex-step daughter (who I am still very close to) who at he age of 11 started developing at a vey rapid rate. By 16, she was having o buy extremely expensive, and some custom made bras. The poor kid was way overendowed, passing DD's. I still feel sorry for her, and the health issues it causes for her (back pain). She would be an excellent candidate for reduction. You see it more and more these days with all of the growth hormones added to food. :matte-motes-confused:

  13. Something similar to Phil's second story happened to me. I was fairly new to SL, and still learning how to use everything. I was playing with the local map, putting my cursor over the dots and looking at the Avie names when I accidentally "clicked" and found myself standing in the bedroom of a couple who were, well, busy! I was absolutely mortified! I made my apologies and TP'd out of there as quickly as possible! Thank goodness they were understanding, laughed, and actually ended up becoming good friends! We still joke about how we met! LOL! :matte-motes-big-grin:

Thank you Have you tried reloading textures? Go into the advanced menu and click on reload textures at the top. If you don't have the advanced menu, click ctr /alt / d that will bring it up.
  15. I don't have any advice, I just wanted to say I sincerely hope you get it sorted! I would have a coronary if that happened!
  16. Alady also has (or used to) tall shapes. I don't know if any of them are mod, though. I bought my shape from them when I was a noob, and still use it to this day! I can't bring myself to change, I feel like I wouldn't be me anymore...lol!
  17. Would you mind telling me where you found that hair? ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
  18. WOW, I was under the impression that this was the General Discussion forum where people can post pretty much anything. I thought it was adorable. Thanks Tex! Pie, if you don't care for it, don't look at it. Kind of like the t.v. or radio....not your taste, change the channel!
  19. Need to fix a few small things in Photoshop (mesh hair issues) but this is Aislin
