  1. You can join the Singularity group inworld too and ask there. I hope you get the issue resolved, I know how frustrating it can be, I think I was well over a year old before I actualy found out how to use voice on V1, by that time I was moving to Emerald and learning all over again

You're full of doom and gloom, you seem to think I care if you go elsewhere with your money, what a strange conclusion you made there. Did you buy your new PC with SL in mind? I know when I had to renew my Laptop I bought the best I could within my budget knowing I would want access to SL. You have been given some good advice on this thread, it's your choice if you want to take it, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. it is common for all stores and retailers to sell off all old and even liquidate it that doesn't mean it is modern because you bought something several years old new at best buy that is like going to a flee market and buying action figures that are 40 years old and still in the package and saying they are modern you just bought them post your cpu and gpu and we will see if we can find the real age Built with MSVC version 1600 You are at 255061.4, 257453.2, 558.2 in Cayman located at sim10290.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.50.12:12035) Second Life Server 13.10.03.281989 Release Notes CPU: Intel® Core i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20GHz (2195.09 MHz) Memory: 4003 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: Intel Graphics Card: Intel® HD Graphics Family Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.15.0010.2361 OpenGL Version: 3.1.0 - Build 8.15.10.2361 Viewer SSE Version: SSE2 libcurl Version: libcurl/7.21.1 OpenSSL/1.0.0g zlib/1.2.5 c-ares/1.7.1 J2C Decoder Version: OpenJPEG: 1.5.2 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Ex 4.44.08 Qt Webkit Version: 4.7.1 (version number hard-coded) Packets Lost: 1/599 (0.2%) For your pleasure...you still didn't answer the question about your PC purchase...did you buy it with SL in mind? Or do you just feel too stupid to admit that you never considered the suitability of your chosen PC and now want to blame LL because you made a bad choice? I do not have the best set-up in the world, far from it, but it certainly seems to be more than enough for my SL enjoyment.
  3. KatTruewalker wrote: 'If I ever have any issues, I'll be sure to let LL know rather than come here complaining to a bunch of people that can do nothing to help me.' I believe iceing came here hoping to discuss his problems with the wide base of knowledgeable and experienced players who frequent these forums, LL are another of those companies who rarely communicate with their players, leaving them them the only option of seeking help elsewhere. Emotional Investment - any player tends to invest a lot of emotional energy into their relationships online, by which I mean friendships as well as other closer relationships, not only that but many people on sl have also invested a great deal of time, effort and cold hard cash. It's hard to delete a character or leave a game where you know the software isn't up to par or game performance is abysmal when your online social network and vast valuable inventory is at stake. I'm glad to hear you're happy in sl... but that's not the point of this thread, is it? I gave my opinion of my SL experience, just as the OP has given his, did he only want posts that agreed with his? For some reason he seems hell bent on using the official viewer, it has been suggested by several posters that he try something else, I know from experience that my Laptop does not fair well with certain Viewers, and it's the same with my PC. How does that saying go? You can lead a horse to water....

  5. iceing Braveheart wrote: From what I have heard SL lags like a chop shop because the graphics engine renders on the cpu instead of gpu video card as frame rate sux with a gtx 460 and gtx 780 in sl and on amd or intel cpu's I also don't think video card makers directly support sl either as performance is very bad across the board video card makers can some times provide work arounds patches in the drivers to fix performance with certain apps games but only if they are willing to as for content imvu has basically the the same system in place as sl all user created it is pretty sad when you cannot go out and buy a bran new pc and use it with sl as they are not compatible with linden lab's second life software viewer the only way to get sl to run is to go to a city land fill and look for old pc's that are discarded and hope they still function and use that with second life. imvu doesn't have this issue though go figure I use Singularity Viewer and have none of these issues you are experiencing or heard about (I'm using a laptop that is 9 months old with just the usual onboard Graphics). Lag seems to be a thing of the past now, it certainly doesn't affect me like it used to in the old days, but this could be dependant on where you hang out. Of all the places you chose to compare to SL, you chose IMVU which is nothing like it at all. Try Singularity or another TPV and see if that works. I really don't see how you can blame LL for your PC issues.
  6. KatTruewalker wrote: Hmmm interesting, the problem with people who have an emotional investment in a game is that they don't want to rock the boat at all, what ice and I are saying is there is a huge potential for improvement in sl which other virtual worlds are capitalising on - cheaper rents, larger prims, free uploading of creators content and the ability to use your own created content where you want to. Look at the T&C for this world for example.. http://inworldz.com/ Emotional investment? Please feel free to expand on this. So you want me to rock a boat that I'm quite happily sailing just to pander to your needs/wants? I have seen great advancements in SL over the years, and of course it's not perfect, there are little things that can sometimes be annoying, (quite like RL actually), but MY SL experience is on the whole, a good one. If I ever have any issues, I'll be sure to let LL know rather than come here complaining to a bunch of people that can do nothing to help me. I have tried the likes of InWorldz, Avination etc and in my opinion they are all SL wannabes, in fact, the last time I logged on to InWolrlz I never saw anyone.
  7. Perrie Juran wrote: My first three years in SL I spent on average FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS A MONTH. They certainly were getting very, very rich on my back! But here we have again another software and server architecture expert posting about how badly designed and archaic SL is. Got to love it. I often wonder what keeps them on SL if it's as bad as they make it out to be. Maybe I'm just easily pleased :smileyindifferent:
  8. KatTruewalker wrote: The sad fact is Linden Labs are making a huge profit off the backs of customers who are too frightened to make a fuss about the archaic software, poor customer support and basically crappy game mechanics. Perhaps none of you play other games out there, but believe me, Linden belongs in the dinosaur age as far as development and response to customers goes. While people are happy to continue paying vast amounts of real world money and accept sub par service, Linden will continue to make their $100 million a year and be very pleased about it. It's only by complaining and raising issues or by voting with your feet and going elsewhere that we can encourage Linden to actually enter the 21st century and update regularly. At the moment all I see is an extremely complacent company with a bunch of overly loyal supporters who are happy to let this kind of service continue. It's NOT a game...and I quite like SL, with all it's little issues. Any money I choose to spend there is totally my choice, LL do not charge me anything to be on SL, they offer it free for everyone. I think I'll stick with it.
  9. iCade wrote: So I am bound to dress either in bland colors or to wear slutty attire? What exactly is wrong witih wearing a boho knit sweater and thigh high socks? And glasses? And mind you, I was never mistaken for a child, just a teenager. Even when wearing LOLA TANGO'S. Right, I've never seen a teenager with a double D rack. I wear neither bland or 'slutty' attire, there are some wonderful clothes for adults without going to either extreme. I do like your look, but I would have mistaken you for a teen, not that there's anything wrong with that, but rest assured there are plenty of great outfits in SL to suit us non bland/slutty avi's.
  10. Maybe there's just more stupid people on SL now than there used to be :smileysad:
  11. Haha, I never considered this, but now it all makes sense. I've always been a believer of voting with my feet, it's a much more accurate way of showing my displeasure in those awful gestures.
  12. You can try all the usual stuff, change bald base, remove any tattoo layer, and as a last resort do a character test. SL can be a right pain in the backside at times. I hope one of these solutions help.
  13. Try the hair without the Alpha, I never have to wear the alpha layer with my Truth hair, or a few others come to that
  14. So glad they were what you were looking for...hope you enjoy your skirt too, it's probably my favourite Mesh clothing item and the extra texture pack is just 60L if you want even more options
  15. lol, it would be bad if it's neither...enjoy skin testing
  16. Looks very much like LAQ to me. ETA..it actually looks like the skin I'm wearing right now, visit their store inworld and try some demos.
  17. A huge selection on MP, these are the 1st pair I came across that look like the ones in your pic https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/erratic-fishnet-stockings-thin-black/1581341
  18. I forgot all about Bare Rose, Czari...though I'm not sure what they have for men. Men's clothing is generally not top of my shopping fetish
  19. jeeps wrote: ok guys wen are u gona sort it????everyday is another griefer in freebie galaxy, and no one does anythingabout it.crap was nearly bad enuff nearly marrying a slapper but this is even worse .sort it sl plz!!!!!!!!ps.any dumass that says just dont go there then take ur head out ur ass LL tried to make you marry a 'slapper' ? *is shocked* There are a few great places for free items I know you like Freebie Galaxy but I have seen so much better at other freebie stores...also, check out some regular stores, they often have great free things on offer...Gizza comes to mind (I suggested this place because you are male and I'm not that up on men's clothing stores). Don't settle for tat just because you are new, check out Marketplace too, you can enjoy grief free shopping delevered straight to your Inv.
  20. wow you do surprise me, saying that I have never bought the normal feet, I hope you enjoy your new feet
  21. I own GOS Bare Feet, I'm a huge GOS fan, and while they are not cheap they are a wonderful investment if you want great feet for those shoeless SL moments, plus the skin match system ensures you'll have the exact match for your skin (with the proviso that your skin is in their system). I prefer the tiptoe style of feet and none of the ones in your picture seem a great choice, sorry.
  22. I'm not sure what's going on with that...I had two mesh items do the same to me sunday and yesterday, cleared cache and all the usual stuff, nothing worked. Today everything is as it should be...it was really odd as other items from both the creators were rezzing without issue, even the exact same shoes in another colour worked fine. Here's a few things I tried without success...cache clearing, clean install of browser, character test, checked updates for Graphics card driver, reset Modem. What I believe actually worked...I logged on with a text based viewer (Radegast), logged off and then back on with my proper viewer and hey presto, there was my hair and my missing shoe. I know the issue was mine because everyone else could see me just fine, I'm still not sure what was actually wrong though. I almost always keep the original or make a copy of items, especially if they were expensive or I really like them.
  23. In all fairness I had never heard the word 'Stomp' in that context either...maybe I'm too old Mell is a lovely person and in no way do I think she's a troll, unless I'm now considered a troll or uneducated because I didn't understand the word either
