  1. To collect money from a new owner. The landscaper in question appears to be in the business of renting the creations of others.
  2. Great question. The seller could simply sell the land with objects. Abnor Mole has previously mentioned that auto return is turned off when land changes owners, so no problem there. The issue is that the owner of the landscaping can pick up or delete the objects at any time, and likely will do so. I assume that the landscaper periodically checks up on their clients.
  3. I could not find a sailboat at the Welcome Hub, but Abnor Mole gives out an ancient motorboat that looks sort of like a sailboat bath toy at the BelliHub (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/BelliHub/158/160/23). Fortunately, there is an actual sailboat, the N~17, in a nearby giver.
  4. I have a bicycle rezzer in Kiva ☺️
  5. There is perhaps a market for landscaped land but I suspect it is small. I always start from bare terrain and have fun landscaping, buying new plants, relandscaping, rinsing, and repeating. Second Life is, fundamentally, a sandbox game/not-a-game.
  6. I can only invite people. If residents had the ability to just add people to their groups, I suspect it would be highly abused. Even Lindens invite you to their groups, such as the exhibitor group for the SLB. I think the hacker described above was bluffing.
  7. Of course computer generated random numbers are pseudo-random because they are algorithmic. Only physical processes yield what is believed to be true randomness and the bar is high, such as the decay of radioactive nuclei over a timeframe.
  8. So long SL20B… We will miss you! Once we get to 21st birthday, SL can serve alcohol… looking forward to it!
  9. I agree... looks like a build was done, portions were picked up as composites, and then it was rerezzed for the video. Very little building here, just rezzing stuff.
  10. (attempt at actual serious answer) Short answer: NO achievement system. I believe that residents should find joy here, whatever that means to them. An achievement system suggests external validation, which in my experience, is hard to come by and consequently, might lead to disappointment. For example, if you like to build, then build and enjoy what you did. Any strokes you get for building (or whatever) would just be icing on the cake.
  11. I definitely have fave moles and Lindens who I appreciate 👍and am ok being a shameless shrill shill
  12. How about generating traffic to a build you did or an event you hosted? Assumes the traffic metric actually works.
  13. Back on topic… both The New Yorker and that the New York Times have insightful writing on the Twitter mess and Threads. In addition to being app only, if you decide to leave Threads you also have to leave Your Insta. Also you cannot get a chronological feed from those you follow as it is all algorithmic… they mix in a lot of rando stuff and ads.
  14. Pull that plug is the way it usually happens. It likely will be a surprise to the Lindens.
  15. This is weird… my point of reference for RL fashion has flipped due Covid isolation and living in a predominately cold climate. Recently I was in midtown Manhattan (eg MOMA) during a warm spell and the Gen Z girls walking around looked like AVATARS to me… different silhouettes but always tight and revealing. There was a time when I considered avatars to be the mirrors.
  16. World/Area Search then check that Copy box on the Filter tab. Gives you a list of copiable objects. Might also check Current Parcel Only.
  17. My new BFF, the Vic Island Land Buoy (SW corner of Wetter)
  18. Am in Chapter 2; the one about Second Life. When I joined in 2009, I was told that Second Life had gambling and when that got shut down, a ton of residents left and have yet to be replaced. This is not in the book. Rather, our noob stickiness problem is due to complicated UI, TPV confusion, missing mobile after the IPhone, and current loyal residents. Yay us! Evidently we do not comply when asked to support new features we think are stupid. He does not say this but he says stuff about Philip that suggest working for him was challenging. Is Richard Nelson Oz Linden?
  19. As I see it, the value of Itsa fluke is that it provides connectivity for AIR travel across the Ranch regions. It is of little use to sailors at the moment in that it is an empty dead end. A dock and rez zone would make it useful for boats.
  20. It is available but Amazon no longer allows you to purchase kindle things on your iOS device. I was able buy it on a laptop and send it to my iPad. Seems goofy,. Update: prolly this is to avoid having to pay Apple a percentage of the amount paid
  21. For water connectivity from Old Belli to the Stilts, we now need 21 regions to connect Itsa Fluke to Nothing Here along the southern Ranch coast, which would be an alternative to finishing the northern coast of the Logs. That requires 19 coastal regions, 7 from Man Overboard to Three Sheets and 12 from Three Sheets to Really Wet. Alternately, they could connect Itsa Fluke to WelcomeHubCommunity with 7 regions, then connect from there to Nothing Here with 7 more regions for a total of 14. Note that Motown has no water passage. The name "Itsa Fluke" suggests the answer to "When?".... which is, "fahgettaboudit, it's a fluke!".
