For the people with homes it makes sense to dump before or close to release time - so you can be ready to pick up a new home, and... sadly... in the hopes of getting competition into your old one and not the one you want...

...but surely you are just as likely to pick up your old home as anyone else?

I do currently have a camper - but thought I would post pics of my last old Linden home I had prior to Bellisseria.

The Loftroom......I was going for a 50's vibe, and I did love it.

Oh wow, I really love that! I never thought of doing an extra raised floor and your fifties look works so well.

I tried to swap my loft room for another this weekend and they were sold out, so still popular.

It's kind of cheating, I know; it's not really decorating the house itself; but it's living in the older SL homes and really enjoying being there while I was there.

Not cheating at all, it's a really creative idea, looks great too :)

  3. Impossible plot.

A mainland house with boat launch to a large ocean, and lovely neighbours. I would need Interesting views, talented builders and some sort of balloons  that I could release which would attach themselves to any low slung sky platforms, anti-grav airports, full bright prims, blinking low lod meshtrocities and vintage primtaculars from the year dot, then gently float them upwards out of view whilst hypnotising the owners of said objects so they were convinced that that's where they had always put them.

  4. Maybe it is more arid terrain? The logic could be 'it's further south therefore hotter'?

edit: looking again this is the same terrain as the transition between grass and beach, maybe it is simply flat..at the moment?

I mean it's one thing to make the new land a little difficult to get to keep up the interest and demand , but another thing to make it virtually impossible like it is now.

Some people do find it more difficult than others, but don't get too discouraged. Plots are abandoned during all time zones and you have as much chance as anyone else of getting one of these. The homes which are let go are just as nice as the others. The moles are speeding up but this new continent will take a while to complete.

  6. Many of the older homes look as if they were furnished several years ago. I'm guessing the owners reached the prim limit at the time and haven't realised how much more can be 'squeezed in' with the latest mesh furniture. It's hard to know which houses have been simply forgotten about.

I am currently attempting to squeeze a bit more in, one of those meta-games that @RaeLeeH was talking about? The challenge of doing up an older house and seeing what is possible, maybe.

  7. I've been flipping back and forth between new and older homes the last few months and currently my thoughts are;

    Acessibility.

Older homes win. If you want somewhere now, you got it. Also, It's possible, with a little bit of patience, to snag the best spots on the older continent due to sparser occupation. Currently Belli is much more effort, to get any kind ofplot.

    Lag

It depends. If you snag a home in a new area, surrounded by others setting up their places you will lag big time. After this, it depends, on the sim, your neighbours, your own furnishings.

If you get an older home, right now, I've found them to be usually lag free. However, if you hit upon a more crowded spot, same as above. In my last but one older place I had the region to myself with a few sparsely decorated home between the empties. Luxurious absence of lag.

    Design Of Houses

Most people seem to think that the look of the new houses is better, and I agree, however, the internal layout and smaller room sizes of current models have divided opinion (there are more themes to come in Belli so we haven't seen everything yet)

    Landscaping.

No contest, Belli wins for beauty, though if you tend to keep your view distance down, or mostly stay indoors it maybe doesn't weigh as heavy.

    Scripting in Public Areas

Vehicles, driving, actual sailable water. Belli, Belli, Belli. Outstanding feature. Along with beautiful stuff to look at while driving, sailing etc.

    Primmage.

It's the same. Older houses just split the prim and space allowance between the Linden House plot and your (potential) other mainland plot. Belli campers are the same.

    Community

Belli has a lot going on. So far as I am aware the older continent is, and always has been, more of a dormitory suburb, and now of course, there are many empty homes which you might enjoy, or feel isolated by.

    Summary

Belli is the future, and a step forward. If you can't get in, or just need a place to lay your pixels down, there are some lovely older homes vacant.

  8. You probably wouldn't notice the difference but I moved house!

Liking the "loftroom", I packed up my furniture in groups, to make the transition easy, then spent a couple of days refreshing to get the same model, but in a position with a little more open space, especially looking from the main windows.

In my refresh tour I found a variety of outlooks, the worst was a house tucked into the bottom of a steep hillside that felt within touching distance of neighbouring buildings. (I was hoping for a top of hill long view, but that option didn't show up in my refresh roulette)

I'm now trying some of the prim reduction techniques learned by reading this forum, we will have the fondue set :D

  9. I realised that I love moving fairly frequently (an example of doing something in sl that would be way too tricky in rl). After a 2 day refreshathon trying to get back into Belli I realised that I could go back to the older homes and have fun redecorating.

I'm loving the loftroom design because it isn't so big that the 175 allowance feels sparse, and the fireplace is in a 'walled' corner so can be covered up for a new look.

  10. Maybe I spend proportionally more time outdoors, sailing, exploring, just looking towards the horizon. Even indoors I love long distance views from my windows , but PC capacity and net connection would have some impact on that.
