  1. Dear complainers, I am pleased to see that such a long and raucous line has formed here in the complaint department. I expect that some complaints about the length of time spent waiting to complain will be forthcoming soon. It was so kind of some of you to provide refreshments. I am sure that some of the latecomers will be disappointed to have missed the whine and cheese. I'm afraid I may not get to all of you today, but rest assured I will respond to each complaint in the order in which they were received. Until that time please feel free to complain amongst yourselves.

Demure Demonge wrote: Hey - message for LL My partner and I love our phoenix and definitely dont want to go over to firestorm or viewer 2, we hate both of them.. many others in SL feel the same too .. WE NEED PHOENIX TO STAY - not going over to viewer 2 or firestorm Dearest complainer and partner, I am so glad that you love your viewer. However, that is not really a complaint, is it? I'm afraid that your message for LL will not be heard in this venue. This is an imaginary complaint department. LL neither endorses nor opposes my dedication to listening to complaints here. I don't imagine they actually pay much attention to me to be honest with you. However, I can truly sympathize with your desire to stop time from progressing and technology from evolving. I rather wish that is was still 1977, personally. If it's any comfort to you, I do not think that Phoenix will change very much from now on. As mesh comes online though your view of SL will increasingly be populated with cubes. For example, you may see your friends start wearing outfits that look like this to you: where others with the v2 codebase viewers will see: If that doesn't bother you, then by all means, continue to use Phoenix. I plan to keep using it for as long as I can. ETA: Photos in this post were borrowed from the Fab Free Blog
  3. My dear Madlyne, Software can be very frustrating, I am so sorry you are having such trouble. I hope that you understand however that this Complaint Department is a fictitious entity. This thread offers no solutions to complaints, our purpose is to offer insincere sympathy, to lighten the emotional burdens of the complainers, and perhaps to make them smile. You are not just a complainer my dear, you have an actual problem. Perhaps your post would be better served in the Second Life answers forum, where they actually try to solve problems. Or try downloading the Phoenix Viewer instead, they seem to be very good at these technical issues.
  4. Gracious Complainers, I see that I have been derelict in my duties, AWOL so to speak, and have not addressed complaints in months, I beg your pardons and rest assured I will return to my post, and give each complaint the attention it deserves.
  5. I actually miss a day about once or twice a month, but that is more than out weighed by the days when I spend 8-10 hours in world. So I suppose my average would be about 3-4 hours per day. And add another 1-2 hours a day reading and posting online to blogs, forums, flickr and the occasional tweet.
  6. To thine own self be true, Dres, and F#@! anyone who makes you feel bad about yourself. Anyone who would laugh at you is certainly not worth your attention. There are so many accepting, loving people in this world that you really do not need to spend time with people that put you down.
  7. I saw that guy with the guitar named Lucille too!
  8. Thanks Storm, I was responding to your response to Dillon that went like this: "This post is utter nonsense. I know you think you got it right - but you don't. As a matter of fact it is posts like this that started the polemic before and after HippieStock." In her post she suggested her perception that SF was usually the respondent and not the aggressor. You disagreed. I think the reality is more subjective, each person involved had their own perspective, mine changed over time. As for letting go, I let it go a long time ago. I was suggesting that we all would be a lot better off if everyone else let it go too.
  9. Oh but Storm, it is all a matter of perspective isn't it? I am well aware of the reasons so many feel bitterly about that unnamed individual. For what it's worth, I too experienced in my very first post on the old jive forum a vicious attack. I didn't understand it at the time and I took it personally and was hurt. I later realized that every newcomer to the forum was suspect to that extremely competitive, paranoid individual who had ESL issues. I am not excusing them, but I do understand. I don't dwell on it either. They are gone now. Let's let it go.
  10. I can't remember the thread, but Someone posted a disclaimer that they used in their profile to nullify other's disclaimers. I thought if was rather amusing so I copied it and put it in my profile too. It goes like this: This is a disclaimer to void your ToS disclaimer whether you read it or not. And if you try to void my disclaimer of your disclaimer, then I void your disclaimer voiding my disclaimer voiding your disclaimer. I further make it impossible for your disclaimer of my disclaimer to void your disclaimer able to void my disclaimer. So there!
  11. Thanks for posting that vid. I couldn't stop laughing, especially when the poor dude would land under the same frozen female av wearing silks and say "ohhhh" in his little chipmunk voice.
  12. Well this is not a great answer but it works. If you de-friend and then re-friend each person on your friends list they will come back with the eyeball (see when online) option clicked. That's a pain but at least it should end the dramas.
  13. I don't have the answer but I have the same problem. The option to see or not see whether I am online seems to be broken. If I add a new friend then they can see me but all my old friends have become unchecked and re checking them doesn't stick. It was fine last week. Now it's not.
  14. Netara, do not encourage him. He is already incorrigible!
  15. Thanks for telling a great story and for letting me play a bit part
  16. Meanwhile, until you succeed in getting the objects removed you can choose to derender them so that you don't see them anymore. In Phoenix you just right click on the object and select more and derender. I don't know how it's done in the Linden viewer.
  17. Venus Petrov wrote: Again, I am open to reading about cases where the identiy of a SL avatar has been forced from LL for prosecution. SL is not FB. I agree Venus. In particular, SL is anonymous, whereas FB tries very hard to force everyone to be who they are. If I don't want to consent to something in SL, I can tp away, mute, ban or just hit the the big red X in the upper right hand corner.
  18. Well I can't complain. I've been whining about missing the GD forum since day 1 and I am ecstatic to see it back again!:smileyvery-happy: Sure, it's going to be a little inconvenient to get re-acclimated again. But we have the GD back! /me does a little happy dance.
  19. It's true there is no such thing as privacy in SL. But on the other hand, don't be so self conscious! Most folk are too busy with their own second lives and are just not that interested in what you may be doing in yours. This is especially true in the Linden home lands. I have a Linden home and even though I am surrounded by other Linden homes, there is hardly ever anyone around. I've moved a few times to different Linden homes and it's always been the case. It's a ghost town. Just look at your radar, if there's no one there then they can't see or hear you. ETA, I didn't mean to reply to you personally, Venus. I was really talking to the OP, but hit the wrong reply button
  20. GD, is it true? Is it really you? Welcome back! I've missed you so. So much to tell you. Has it really only been 3 months since you went away?
  21. I prefer inworld shopping. Once in a while I will hear about a deal that is only available online. But I enjoy going to the stores more.
  22. I check in once every couple of weeks or so. Like you, I can't seem to find the conversation. So I don't stay. It's a shame really because I really liked the SL forum back in the day, even with it's flame wars and trolls, there were some really good conversations. But now the community has fragmented with some folks in one alternative forum and some in another, and some off twittering (including me - but that's camaraderie, not conversation).
