  1. /me tiptoes into the thread, looks around, waves, then tiptoes out again.
  2. details, details... this is what I have currently: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 5600+ 2.80 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nFirce 430 3072MB System Memory 3 gig ram Win 7 home premium 32 bit
  3. I've been very slowly trying to acclimate to the V2 platform, using firestorm. I don't like it much, not because of the V2 interface, which used to be my big complaint. I've gotten used to that. But what I really don't like is how slow it is. The V2 world is gray for me. So I'm going to get a new graphics card for my 5 year old PC. I'm looking for recommendations from the more savvy folks around here. What do you think?
  4. /me smiles wickedly at Tolya, then quickly flashes him and waves enthusiastically
  5. As far as I know there was no organized boycott. I think different people left for different reasons. Some found other venues during the blackout. Some complained a lot and then left, some just left. Some came back once in a while, sticking a toe in to test the waters now and then. I complained for a while, left for a while, and came back once in a while when I heard about a good thread. I think that I've been coming back more and more often lately. This, I think is a good sign. But I still miss some voices that are silent now. And I still get mad when threads get deleted. Locking I can understand. Deleting an obvious troll I can understand. But I hate it when whole threads go missing.
  6. Hi Ima! Nice to see you! I dunno what's going on (love that song though). I miss the old jive forum as well. But time marches on and this lithium forum is all we've got. Those that are still boycotting are both missed and missing out. I wish Tolya would come back
  7. Wow Dee, that was a good one. I got chills from the vibrato. Who sang it?
  8. For some reason, my posts keep landing in the middle of the thread and nobody's seen them. So since I really want people to hear them I am gonna repost 'em here. This was my first, it's called a Rose in April. Next I posted about When, by Richie Havens, but I couldn't find a link. The closest I could get was a snippet from Amazon - but it's truly a powerful song Then I had a wow moment at Quinn's post of Silenzio, posted a couple more versions of Hallelujah, one by the song's writer, Leonard Cohen, and another cover by KD Laing. and finally, after getting the sniffles listening to "Hello in there" by John Prine and again by Bette Midler I went and got a fried egg from Maddie and posted this: If you really wanna cry, listen to Danny Boy sung by Eva Cassidy
  9. I love Lillie's version, but I like the original the best: and KD Laings is a close second: ETA, on second thought, KD's is better as far as talented interpretation goes. But Leonard actually wrote those words that give me shivers.
  10. While I do wish that Ms McMasters would post again herself, I'll take her gems anyway she cares to offer them. You might just see me with a fried egg on my head if you see me in world, feel free to say Hello in there.
  11. Quinn Morani wrote: Oh, and how could I have left out this one? that was wnunnerful, simply wunnerful!
  12. That one by Eva Cassidy, "you take my breath away" absolutely beautiful. But it makes me cry. It could very well belong in the other thread. She died too young, such a phenomenal singer. Lynda Baran wrote:
  13. happy songs, hmmm, bubbly toes was the first that came to my mind Beethoven's piano concerto number 4 is another, especially the 3rd movement and how about George Harrison? ETA to get the original version of Bubbly toes, I didn't care for the live one as much. ETA again because I had to add this one:
  14. so many great songs. I wanted to post one from Richie Havens called "When" but I couldn't find it.
  15. My dear Lia I am so sorry that you were unhappy with my previous answer. I would pretend to be upset about your complaint if I thought that would make you feel better. But I march to the beat of a different drummer. I welcome complaints of all kinds. Next!
  16. Dear Madam or Sir: It may surprise you to learn that not everyone enjoys listening to complaints. I personally don't understand this, however, I have heard that in fact people who don't like complaints actually outnumber those of us who do. Apparently, SL seems to be taking the majority viewpoint. Or at least I suppose they are. I do need to mention that I am taking your word for it that SL has no complaints department. I've never tried to complain to them so I do not know this first hand. Be that as it may, I am happy to listen to you complain about this or any other thing that happens to bother you. Next!
  17. My dear baker, Alas, I was forced to do my own shopping. Hope your cookies came out wonderful. Next!
  18. Don't know how old my computer is, I suffer from CRS (can't remember stuff). It's more than a couple 2-3 years old though. I use the latest Phoenix viewer mostly and I've played around with firestorm but for some reason the world is too gray when I use firestorm so I am waiting until they fix that. My friends list is totally borked for reasons other than slums. I have not lost or gained anyone over slums but some people can't see me and the eyeball button doesn't work. I have slowly been refriending everyone to fix this little glitch. It's what they call a "known issue". I think that means the programmers are clueless as to why it happens and don't know how to correct it.
  19. My Dearest Ms Kyrie, I am so sorry that you feel you have lost your friend. But, let me ask you this. Have you really lost the friendship? Many people in SL have become quite confused on the subject of friendship. You can still be friends with a person even if they are not on your list. In fact, being on the list is not a guarantee of friendship any more than not being on the list signifying the end of friendship. Friendship grows over time: first we see each other, then we talk, then we realize we like seeing and talking and we start doing things together. Then we go through ups and downs and we cheer and console each other. It's a truly wonderful and special thing. And it has not much to do with the offer friendship button in SL. I think that your friend is still your friend, whether she is on your contact list or not. And if you need to contact her, look her up in your calling cards. Next!
  20. I'd just like to add a caution to this thread, DO NOT READ THIS THREAD EARLY ON THE MORNING AFTER IMBIBING SERIOUS ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. Really!
