LL used to pay EU users Value added tax..but SL grew so much that they couldn't pay it anymore.. Non-resident EU business that provide "Electronically Supplied Services" such as hosted applications, downloadable software and downloadable music, must charge each of its customers VAT according to the VAT rate of the country where the customer resides. The EU Commission implemented the VAT rule about Electronically Supplied Services by non-EU resident entities in order to level the playing field for EU-based providers of services. The aim is to enable European providers of competitive services to Second Life to compete equally with non-EU-based providers as regards customer taxation.
  5. it took them a weeks worth of the run around to tell my fiance that the problem with his account was he hit the wrong birthdate on the slider when making his account.. he asked over and over what the problem was..then they led him on that it coudl be fixed and he gave tons of information showing his RL age.. then they said they couldn't do anything because he was under 18..he flipped out lol..he then told them he would just make a new account like he first suggested..they said ok..make sure you use the right birthdate this time..he kind of said...DUH!!
  6. it had to be a pretty bad accusation for it to be a first time perma ban.. i know that cases can be reopened or respomnded to.. did they say anything at the bottom of the emails like.. To reply to this case, either Reply to this email, or visit the case page? which if you are banned from everything would be hard to get to the case page..so emails are about it.. thats where you have to keep appealing and reopening the same case..in emails.. they won't give you specifics like show you logs or even who AR'd you.. all i can say is keep trying.. how long ago did all this happen?
  7. check your emails because even if they close them it will be on the case page and in an email.. they should have told you what the problem was in the email account used for your sl account.. also on the case page there should be a reopen case button after the comments section where you put your comments in..
  8. it still the same as when i bought some last week,.like $4.32 = $L1,000
  9. it's good for updates also.. like today when i was in second life and also watching Eric and Sookie finally get together!! \o/ but then Bill (Sookies ex) found out Erics memory was erased because Pam has a big mouth and let it spill out because she is all obssessed with this rotting spell that the same witch that Erased Erics memory cast a spell on her too..so bill is gonna show up and see Eric(who won't remember bill) and Sookie kissing really heavily and i think Bill is gonna flip out.. But Eric is older and is gonna whoop Bill pretty bad.. i can't wait till next week when i am in second life and also watching True blood because it is such a huge part of my second life now..hehehehe

Ceka, you have very elegantly summed up the fall of the dollars value and the rise in gold prices. 14. well i guess we will just be waiting to see what it does i guess.. you are predicting it will go up as the dollar increases in value.. i'll be sticking with what i said.. it won't be long before we find out.. i'll gamble on history repeating itself it'll be fun to see what happens..*winks* we can pick this back up in a few months then i take it? hehehehe
  15. Mayalily wrote: No. But where is your or Ceka's counterpoint? I'd like to hear those 'cuz I'm laughing out loud here. In economics Gold is a hedge against inflation. (with a period in it's simplest explanation.) Gold is it's own commodity. @ Venus, I should have said they (meaning the government) spend our money. That should go without saying. even i sleep at times lol you can laugh all you want..i'm not talking about anything but level of holding value..it could be rocks for all that matters..as long as there is confidence in whatever it is with holding power.. history has proven that gold is consistant in that role.. if it were spices then i would have said spices..something of consistant value is a good gague if our currency value fluxuates the cost of the valued item.. ETA: i would just like to add that it is true gold is a hedge in avg market conditions..in an unstable market or in extreme market conditions gold is concidered a safe haven..even in a market crash..
  16. Mayalily wrote: No, we wouldn't be screwed; it's quite the opposite. I don't know how you come up with that idea? Based on what? Gold has nothing to do with the dollar value. Gold is a hedge against inflation but is now becoming a protection (which is also meant by hedge) against worthless paper assets. Not to mention I already mentioned early on in this thread that the dollar will start strengthening no later than Christmas time of this year as it is said that will be the beginning of interest rate hikes but not the end. Interest rate hikes to increase the worth of the dollar could happen sooner this year, but it is said Christmas time at the latest. I'm sure a round of interest rate hikes will be coming over the next few years which will increase the dollar further, and also bring up more capital from the almost free money the U.S. is lending to having it had to be paid back at the higher interest rate. Once the worth of the U.S. Dollar begins to strengthen, the value of that gold in U.S. Dollars will begin to go up even further. I expect that gold value to go up a lot further. Not to mention this trillion bazillion gazillion Dollar value of the technology we have now with these killing machines. We don't need more military. The U.S. can afford to cut there. However, I'm quite sure we didn't make these machines all on our own. A few countries I can think of who may have helped are Canada, Great Britain, and possibly Italy. I doubt the U.S. made them all on our own. Who else has this technology is only a speculation of my part. based on purchasing power.. based on history and the present time and the fact that gold is something that holds it's value..it is easy to measure against..gold is a safe haven for holding value..people buy gold..companies buy up gold when they see a storm coming..investors buy gold because it's a sure thing rather than lose value.. paper in one hand and gold in the other..one loses value while one remains the same.. print more money and the paper loses value..people see the devalue and buy up value holding gold..this increases the price of gold.. like a ruler has 12 inches..you can use it to measure.. gold hits 1,000 an ounce in 2008 for the first time in it's history..when was the housing crash? 2008 gold keeps going up as the dollar kept dropping as the market went unstable and into a panic.. what is gold at right now and what is the dollar value at right now? gold is sitting at right around 1,600 an ounce and about to keep going up as we are talking about gaining more borrowing power and printing more money to devalue the dollar.. where is the dollar at as of today in value? there are two main arguments behind this raise in the debt...it's either ment to increase borrowing power or to keep confidence in forien investors to stop them from going and investing else where.. it's about our credit rating..it won't pull us out of debt..if anything it's just another temporary hold off to what is coming if they can't get us out of this with something solid.. if the dollar does happen to strengthen from this..you watch gold come down..wanna know why? becaus gold investers are not stupid and go where the win is rather than the loss in their investment money in gold..if they see gold start to drop they will start to sell.. this in turn lowers the price on gold.. they follow the value..they will follow gold before they do tech in an unsecure market..because gold is a safe bet and good for a profit..if they see value and a chance to make profit in these robots then sure they will invest..but gold is a long term hold that investors have all the confidence in the world that will bring a profit or at least hold value..they wouldn't take that risk on robots in an unstable market.. gold doesn't affect the dollar value...the dollar affects gold prices. this is why it is a good thermometer for the dollar..
  17. i don't know..i mean i think to go on a rampage like this guy did for an hour of just shooting young people.. he had to have a certain amount of screws loose to start with anyways..just add a belief to get all pumped up on and evil sh!t happens.. hitler had screws loose and i'm sure stalin did too.. extreme evil happens with screw balls in power..or when they are just walking around waiting for a sign to flip that switch.. giving this guy a label of him doing it for christianity or muslim or whatever makes him some sort of hero in someones eyes.. thats what these nut cases want..he is just an evil screw ball nutcase like the rest of them..nothing more.. ETA: here is how you punish someone like this..put him on death row for 10 years..once a month maybe two.. give him a date that he is to be exicuted..right up to almost hitting the switch the phone rings stopping the exicution.. then after 10 years throw him in with the rest of the convicts in general population for the rest of his life. exicution is too good for these guys..they need to live and keep remembering what they did everyday for the rest of their lives in a tiny cell.. http://news.yahoo.com/norway-suspect-deems-killings-atrocious-needed-013354792.html
  18. if gold reaches 5,000 we are screwed...our dollar value would more than likely be in the negative..because golds value never changes..it's cost is what changes.. High cost of gold means the dollar is in pretty bad shape..it's always been a good gague of how well or how bad the dollar was doing.. in 2004 gold was at around 250 an ounce... say two people in 2004 walk into a grocery store and spend 250 each..one using cash and one using an ounce of gold.. to do the same thing now in 2011..a person walking in with an ounce of gold could get the same amount of groceries for an ounce of gold.. someone walking in with cash would have to spend what an ounce of gold would cost nowdays to get the same amount of groceries they had gotten back in 2004.. so if it hits 3k or 5 k we are pretty much screwed heheheh
  19. i have a solution..it's kind of old but may just be dumb enough to work.. the ole light grenade *winks*
  20. i understand all this..i could have outlined ever decade and actually did but decided to cut it down to what i posted..i was not jsut talking about the 70's..giving out loans to people that had no business getting them came later in the next decade.. in the 70's my grandfather had a house built back in the 70's..a nice home ..a tri level with 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths ..a full basement and not even 3 years later had a huge addition put on..the initial cost of the home was 30,000 dollars..he had a manufacturing job back then making 30,000 a year.. you could buy a nice home for a years pay back then.. now it's so out of wack unbalanced.. right now that same position pays around 13,000 a year..if i were to buy the same exact house now in an area about the same it would cost me close to half a million dollars.. working the same position i would have to work 40 years to do what my grandfather could do in one year..to achieve the same thing.. i know how we got here and knew what was coming before it got here.. there is nobody that can tell me we are going to get back to what we were..and i don't see this train slowing down until it hits the station full speed.. pay keeps decreasing while cost of living keeps going up.. there is going to be a point when survival level kicks in if they don't start hitting the breaks..
  21. Marianne Little wrote: It was the other way around. First he set off the bomb, then he posed as a policeman coming to check security at the Youth Camp. It was a devilishly well plan. Norwegian police is unarmed, but after such an event as the bombing, they are armed. He showed false police ID and claimed he was there to check security and had information about the Oslo bombing. The Prime Minister was scheduled to talk in the Youth Camp the next day. So when he came to the island, he asked to adress the pople in an infomation meeting, very polite and very formal. They said yes, of course. Then he started shooting. He even walked around on the island in over one hour, calling out that he was from the Police and that they were safe now. Some kids were tricked to came out and was shot. He also shot wounded youngsters in the head as they were laying down, and shot at those trying to swim from the island. The Police forces were all gathered in Oslo to investigate after the bomb, so he had over one hour on the remote island. It is horrible. It is still 5 young people missing from the island massacre, and they have found unidentified body parts in the bombed out buildings in Oslo, so the death number may rise. oh my.i misunderstood what i was reading or had read from the wrong information..sorry about that.. it had to be really planned out well to do it that way.. he must have figured the bombing would be a big distraction to be able to do the other part.. how evil of this person..seriously evil..

I am very heartened by what I have heard coming from Norwegian leaders, and from the people. Shock, immense sadness, and anger . . but also a determination not to let this destroy the kind of tolerant society that they have built. And that's pretty cool. i agree hehehe
