  2. The sim owners might also have got themselves caught up in the new billing fandango, and might not have just foreclosed as you suspect..although I suppose its easier just to blame them openly on a public forum after naming their sim :matte-motes-angry:
  3. I'll add a few for your *to do* list ! Jane by Janie Marlowe, Arisaris, oyakin (soooooper pretty things) C’est la vie (lovely group gift out at the moment also) , Jill by Jill Lemon (shes just reopened her store and the opening gifts are very cool) Indie Rose, Sweetest goodbye, Paradisis (just had a sim revamp with lotsa newness) Ribbon & milkmotion..
  4. A few spring to mind that you might like: Designer Prims (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/43001 she also has an inworld store with demos up to fiddle with), Robert Galland,Novocaine Islay -both those names you cna search for inworld and tp to their stores.
  5. oh snap! Had exactly the same problem this morning on one of my sims. A resident had rezzed a shopping bag and it wouldnt let her take it back or delete it..as sim owner I couldnt return it or delete it either. A sim restart did the job though, after the restart we came back and removed it .
  6. Phil Deakins has a store inworld that sells a security orb thats remarkably easy to set up & effective, I think last time I bought a couple they were only 125L each. Look up his profile and tp in, they were on the stairs leading up to the outside furniture & kitchen dept (last time I looked anyway)

Are you saying Private estate landllords are "cubicle farmers"? Thats kinda rich lol. All I did was flip the issue. That you take offense shows that what you'd said deserves taking offense to. But I don't see how you could so easily confuse the distinction between an estate holder and a LL employee and what a cubicle is. Uhmm I dont understand your attitude or response..I havent taken offense ? Ive responded to what Ive seen posted..and please be aware..I have owned and rented private estates for four years and am well aware what a *cubicle farmer is*..at least in the circles I move in. Perhaps you mean something entirely different..I have no idea. Always best not to make assumptions on what someone is or isnt feeling in the forums , grnated that can be difficult when you only have the written word to go on.:smileysurprised:
  13. Hello Patrick Great idea to rustle up a few Linden's ! You dont need to compete on price if you do not wish too...its really up to you..did you just want to earn a few dollars towards tier? Or make it a proper rental scheme? Write yourself a covenant, so people can know up front your expectations of them before they rent. For example, no terraforming,no ban lines, and to stay within the theme of the exisiting land etc..think about all that youd like people who will be sharing your space with you, to do (or not to do!) Also as its a homestead, think about limiting the amount of people that can attend parties etc..they hold 20 (I think thats the current amount) If you have friends over and then your residents also have some..it could get tricky-maybe ask for advance noctice of impending social occasions where more than say,10 might attend? I think its a splendid idea to offer a home (Ive done that on occasion also and some are really appreciative of the loan until they can find something appropriate) In our covenant we do state that homes are to be in theme with the resort, and if they are unsure to run it by us BEFORE they buy it-thus ensuring that the area remains as beautiful as it always is . Good Luck Fai

Perspective is key here. Some of us like cults of personality and excel within them, others like the 'cold but preditcable hand' of a set of rules enforced by a bureaucracy of cubicle farmers. ahh the good old chestnut of mainland over private estates huh ! Are you saying Private estate landllords are "cubicle farmers"? Thats kinda rich lol. Take a look around..not all landlords are cookie cutters these days..its a competative market..and we cant afford to sit on our laurals. Wonder what that makes LL with their "premium benefit" of their cubicles er..I mean homes. "when you could buy a lot on mainland and do with it anything the ToS allows?" and that for me and others can be the actual problem..people DO with them as they want...neon..malls...fugly builds..all right next door yay not !
  15. Faithless Babii wrote: Why would you recommen buying mainland over renting a parcel from a reputable landlord? Hi Melita ! Yes I know the OP was originally referring to her premium membership and mainland, but I was picking up on some of your remarks regarding it being easier to start with mainland, and I have not found that to be the case at all. 1) "It is much easier for them to begin with a LInden home or with their own parcel of mainland. "- why do you feel it is easier to start with mainland? It is not my experience at all. 2) Now in a "perfect world" in which all landlords explained things well and never went POOF in the night keeping people's paid rent, then okay. Estate land can be very nice!- Privtae Estate land can be great yes, but the tired old story we hear about people losing land/ bad landlords here in the microworld of the forums is thrashed about a great deal to tar what is and can be a positive experience with private estates. You dont really see much positive said about either mainland or private estates in the forums, its a place to ask questions, get help..not to back slap the good & great .Does LL have inworld staff to help you? Whats LL like after youve got your mainland and need help, do they leave you to the mercy of the forums or provide inworld help & assistance?.Ive been renting land & homes in SL for over 4 years, and know of many many many other great & reputable landlords that have & do also...we dont hear much about these people in the forums precisely because there have been no problems people come here to post about. 3) You don't have to spend long in the forums to have read many of the horror stories about such things happening with estate land either, and I hate to see new residents sour on SL through an experience such as that.- see above re: forums and also the same can be same two fold for horror stories about mainland. Bad neighbours, feuds that carry on for months and months, over hanging prims anyone? Parcel encroachment..your neighbourhood disolving into neon lit night clubs & malls? All these and many more can make your super mainland parcel a living nightmare and sour your experience new or old land owner with mainland. Your case on this point works both ways. 4) About living next door to a Zyngo palace - just buy wisely. The same can happen on an estate! Or living with prim hogs or bad neighbors the same as mainland. And some people do find the covenants too restrictive. This person wants to BUILD what they want.- no the zyngo scenario cant happen on a private estate if its residential- cant it? Sure you can also get mixed private estates, but thats a choice, residential, comerical or mixed...I only have residential sims personally, covenants are not generally that restrictive either (I know mine isnt) and they as a rule are there to safeguard the people who make that estate thneir home. Landlords want people to stay...so they set out a covenant to protect the overall look & appearance of the estate, and to make everyones experience a positive one. If you rent in a themed estate, dont be surprised if the covenant asks that you maintain that theme! Ive never in 4 years come across a covenant thats built around making peoples lifes difficult . People can build on private estates also-we allow it, and also terrain editing (within set parameters-again so everyones experience is good) - and unlike linden homes you can also utilise the sky above your land, for example a nice building platform might be handy. You dont need to "file a ticket" for bad neighbours either..or wait in line for a few weeks to months for some assistance with private estates its in the interests of the landlord to aid & help & resolve any disputes that arise- in just over 4 years I can only think of a handful of times Ive had to step in and help...its peaceful & organised on our estates. Prim hogs & hoggers in general are dealt with pretty quickly..we have the tools to check performance every day (and it is!), living on a mainland parcel you do not have this safeguard-youre pretty much out there flapping in the breeze. Hope that helps :matte-motes-grin:
  16. Melita Magic wrote: Unless the landlord on mainland owns enough land that they can parcel it up like estate owners do, and you rent, no. All land comes with a certain amount of prims. What some landlords do, is use some land for common grounds, and then devote part of those prims to every rental parcel. But if you BUY a mainland parcel, you get the prims it comes with. Nothing more. Same with if you purchased an estate. But you can't purchase an estate in pieces, only rent one. If you purchase estate, you get the whole island. And if you buy it from LL it's 1000 USD. Plus approximately $300 USD a month tier. I'd recommend buying mainland for beginning land owners. Or the Linden home. The good side of that is you get the house, landscaping and land, plus your own 117 prims. If you get a 512 elsewhere it normally comes with 117 prims total. Which would include your house, landscaping and the rest. Linden Homes houses do not subtract from that 117. If you want to build and get a larger parcel, I'd buy mainland. Then you can also do what you want within LL TOS. Most estates have covenants. Why would you recommen buying mainland over renting a parcel from a reputable landlord? Id suggest renting a parcel for a new land owner. why? When you rent land from a good landlord, theres usually someone there to hold your hand a little. With all our land rentals we offer help with landscaping, terraforming etc..and supply endless free amounts of help with anything land related..you dont really get that with mainland do you? Yes private estates do mostly have covenants..and this is a GOOD thing. It means, unlike unregulated mainland, there are things you can and can not do...it usually means (if the cov is policed ) that no one can build something fugly right on your doorstep, that you wont be left sitting for months with over hanging stuff from your neighbour, that you wont wake up and someone's sucking up all the sim resouces for a neon lit zyngo paradise. Find a good landlord, rent yourself a parcel and grab all the free help you can from them !!

Id really suggest you try to speak to the person concerned about this, no one can resolve it on the forums for you, merely give you their opinions..if your reasonable and realise that the land is being rented by you not owned..and approach them in a calm manner..perhaps you can sort it out amicably. It appears there has been confusion on both ends...SL isnt a precise science with regard to transaction history showing up for both parties either (had that happen to me a few times with people claiming rent paid and I have nothing on my end for a few hours) Without knowing the landlords version of this..and only yours..Id say theyve been not very helpful ...hope you can get it resolved :matte-motes-confused:
  21. Yes I used to get "weary" sometimes...and ended up not wanting to log into the mayhem of my SL day ! So I decided to find me a SL hobby..something not related to my inworld business..and I chose to blog fashion. Its kept me sane, I can spend hours in my studio, messing about with props, searching for new designers, and hunting down some background textures etc..Im always surprised when I notice 2-3 hours have passed , but Im totally relaxed and smiley afterwards :matte-motes-big-grin: On a side note..even though blogging begun as a solitary thing I did.,and still is 50% of the time...Ive also met some incredibly lovely people through it, who Im honoured to now call friends ...
  22. Gil Hema wrote: Hi all, So there's the full-story: June 2 at 23:54 I purchased a homestead for L$8 from a 'landlord'. June 3 at 00:02 I pucheased L$10,000 from LL to pay the weekly tier. June 3 at 00:03 I TP'ed to the tier center provided by the 'landlord' to pay tier over a 'terminal' looking thingy - L$7,500. June 3 at 00:05 I followed the instructions on the 'landlord's profile, IM'ed her "I need EM rights to be transferred, thanks." June 3 at 09:01 The landlord replied my IM saying "transferred?" June 3 at 22:02 I replied to the landlord's IM: "Do you mean the rights are transferred? But I still can't edit terrain texture etc." June 3 at 22:42 I sent another IM: "So far the first day of me renting this homestead, I couldn't get much done due to the fact I IM'ed you in regards to EM rights, yet your respond were nice and short "transferred?" with no further explanation of what is that supposed to mean, is that a question or a saecasm? For all I know I am still unable to do anything in the Region/Estate window, that includes change terrain texture set region time nor broadcast region-wide message. Very not happy at all for the unprofessional and unefficient service." June 4 at 08:48 The landlord replied me with something similar to this: I lchecked the system and you haven't pay me any rent, so I need clarification as to what "transferred" meant. You are not a renter even though you have paid the 8L but failed to comply with the covenant which clearly states weekly rental is due immediately. I'm sorry if you feel this is unprofessional or sarcastic but I provide support only to paying customers. At the same time, I found myself got booted from the homestead, and can no longer access it as well. June 4 at 22:52 I replied to the landlord with a screenshot of my transaction history from the LL account page, "So you're saying I DIDN'T PAY? I paid L$8 then paid another L$7500 at the tier center through the termainal. Here's the record." I feel like I'm being scammed... need advice please Gil. ok..first of all..you didnt "purchase" the homestead, you paid "rent". Some landlords allow you to have estate rights, some dont..you should have read the covenant to find out what they allow before paying really. Some landlords permit terrain to be altered, some dont..again..reading the covenant would have cleared this up. You dont get the homestead "transferred" to you, youre renting it not buying it, it will always be in the name of the landlord and you will get Estate manager rights. I think your use of the word "transferred" is the problem here..although it does seem as if the landlord wasnt overly helpful towards you. If you bump heads with people and make accusations about being scammed...its not going to make anything easier..this couldve been cleared up so simply, it does also sound as if you didnt adhere to the terms & conditions of paying tier straight away..you paid for the land one day, the rent/tier the next.and they asked that it be paid straight away.If a landlord is going to be picky and has stated the terms & conditions and you dont adhere to them..this is what happens I guess. Youve had some good advice about contacting the landlord and checking that the person you contact is the person you paid..Id go with that and see if you can reach a resolution amicably between you.

Jessika Core wrote: Not trying to start drama or a flamewar when I ask this, but since Linden Labs can't seem to stop misuse of keywords on the marketplace, is there or can something be implemented to block merchants who are particularly abusive with the use of keywords? I don't even see an choice in the option list of Flagging an item for misuse of keywords. (Of course when it was still Xstreet after LL bought them, they never responded to that anyways.) So: Is there an option to do this? Can one be implemented if there isn't? (For those curious, a decent example would be searcing "ninja" on the marketplace. It brings up 200+ shoes that aren't remotely ninja-oriented. Also gothic dresses, "wife beater" tees, etc.) I would just like the ability to run a keyword search for something I'd like to spend my money on...and not have to filter through hundreds (if not thousands) of items that have absolutely no relation to my search. Slightly related, I often trawl the market place looking for clothes that are inexpensive..and always have to go through reams of pages from BBIAB resellers..the same old 2007 stuff regurgitated over and over..Id LOVE to know how to block a particular seller so I dont have to see that..
