  1. On my third day in SL back in Jan 2007, I met Tracey Sassoon of ALady, she gave me a pile of shapes shed made and also took me to a hunt for hair (Taunt, I think it was called) Being new and not realising a thing..I deleted the shapes after trying them...DOH. I've worn her shapes ever since though ! (she even made some for me so I could retain my facial features through pregnancy) Reg Simca, my neighbour on my first piece of land 2007- he patiently showed me how to build my first home and then built me a home to live in. A guy who shall remain nameless , who in my first week gave me 3000L to buy clothes & manicures and hair (I think it was from Brit) and my first ever Curio skin aww ! Ive tried to repay their kindness over the last 4 years and help where I can.

Then you have 117 prims to decorate with. On normal mainland you get 117 prims total for that same starter size lot. TOTAL, for house, landscaping, furniture, everything. Id assume that people would really like to choose their own style sometimes and not be limited by the dire offerings that LL currently hand out. Whilst appealing from a cash point of view, the Linden homes are really not that attractive, plus space is so limited you lack any sort of privacy in them.
  3. Apparently the premium sandboxes have signs informing you that you are not permitted to use or test anything other than "simple scripts"...so uhm...not so good then

I haven't quite "gotten a round TUIT" for the notegiver, or details of a "covenant"/rental agreement, but I also figure a lot of that is common sense (do I REALLY need to say "No giant statues of Bart Simpson mooning your neighbors" ?) In my years of experience as a landlady...I'd have to say YES...state what is allowed ie: Please keep any structures etc within the theme of the area - trust me on this :smileytongue:
  5. I'd really suggest you sit and think about what you're going to do with your sim. A badly thought out or poor design will not attract people to rent from you (If I got your idea right, you're going to want to charge rent for homes & stores yes?) Also consider the implications of having a very busy pub / club/ shopping mall on people who wish to live there. Personally I wouldn't wish to live on a mixed zone sim, meaning commercial & homes on the same site. I'd suggest looking up people who design sims in the first instance, and get an idea of the costs involved. Lastly , I'd suggest you might want to use spell check in any advertising or notecards or signs you intend to use, badly written with incorrect spellings doesn't give a great impression to potential customers. If you have a problem typing / spelling maybe let a business partner or close friend do them for you. Good luck with your plans, its an exciting time!
  6. Hi Perrie it must be a real wrench leaving a home after that period of time, sorry to hear you must. My take on the Linden homes is pretty much as the poster above me (Im a landlord of some 4 years btw) One thing I will add is that these days I find more and more new residents are coming to me after realising the shortcomings of the Linden homes (lack of privacy being the main one) but this is usually after they bought a premium membership, they signed up because they presumed they HAD to in order to get a home. They had no idea that they could rent privately...and this infuriates me ! LL advertise the "free" home so hugely, its almost appearing thats the only way to go to have a home, that or buy land from them via a premium membership. I currently have so many people renting small AND larger furnished homes that were unaware they could do so before paying for a premium membership. I feel that landlords like myself are being cut out of the equation at the initial stages. One huge bonus for most we find is the help we offer daily...no submitting tickets required, no directing the a wiki to get answers :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: Hope the move goes well for you and btw if youve been happy with your landlady Id say stick with her too ! If someone behaves poorly in SL, they probably have tendancies to do the same in RL. Fortunately, the vast majority of my interactions with other residents have been fine. It isnt so much they need to be told or taught social graces all over upon entering SL..its that it seems any they had fly out the window as some think its a "game" and it doesnt matter how they interact. Ive seen it quite often with a new resident, its almost as if this is some sort of fake world & other people have fake feelings and they feel free to say as they please and act as they please? Social graces seem to leave them, especially with those that appear to be here primarily to hook up for "the sexeh's" I think that some struggle so much with learning the basic technicalities, they get frustrated and then begin to act up like a petulant child...I dont mean all...I do mean "some". The majority of new residents I meet are very nice and well mannered but at least a few times a week...I get hit on with repeated demands for "lets have sex"..and I dont frequent clubs or free sex areas...Im usually just stood shopping or on my home sim renting homes. btw I really dont like to call people newbs...I prefer new resident...:matte-motes-big-grin:
  9. Steve does a sterling job showing guys gear on our blog, freebies, gifts, full price & hunts http://pureeggsspam.wordpress.com/ Personally I shop for my partner at the following places : SF design, gabriels (transfer stuff yay! and GREAT gifts) Airflow (transfer stuff ) For shoes Gos & HOC.
  10. yus! I also got a "naughty huggable mole" that was rather cute...but the kites were my favourite thing , a real childhood favourite of mine awww :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  11. Well ok, its not a whole day out kinda thing but....the Linden moles built this area and its stuffed with games,prizes,gifts..a real old seaside road trip...and its all free ! I just loved the kites you could get...lots of designs and flyable...huggable toys as gifts from the whackamole game...even postcards to take as a reminder of your "vacation"...awesome... I blogged it with some pics :smileyvery-happy: http://pureeggsspam.wordpress.com/

There was a big discussion about this (somewhere ) a while ago...so reducing tier wouldnt really have helped if people dont use the traffic they have to make ends meet? Nobody ever donates to a venue anymore, and with Marketplace, people don't shop in sim malls. So, pretty much every entertainment sim in SL is a 'dead man walking' now. Id have to disagree with you there, I tip and i know others do...and people DO shop in malls...I do regulary and many have stated on these very forums that they enjoy the whole experience of shoppping rather than the MP (or a combo of both)

Dont forget that some people just do tire of the "hobby" of owning a sim...and go off to do other things. Then you have sims opening with little or no business plan, just hoping to make a stab at collecting rents, or selling enough to make the tier..reducing tiers "a little" wont help them either. Eventually they will not want to pay the tab and close up shop. It is possible to own a sim and make it pay, it takes work and you have to be prepared to be flexible and keep up to date with trends. Good point, Faithless. But I don't think every sim needs to be about making money and that's maybe part of the problem. Would if make sense to give a price break to sims that benefit the sl community? I do tip and buy, but I'd bet I'm in the minority. One thing about tipping, though... I don't think most of the people who wander through sims have any idea how much a sim costs. I know I started tipping a little more when I realized that. ^5 for tipping...yes so many dont and then wonder why places close. However, I think if you do open a sim thats not a business you have to accept youre going to pay the tier yourself. (or at least the vast majority of it) LL used to give non profits & educational sims a discount...but I think they stopped it...not sure, I forget so much !

  15. Yes, I was there just today...and I checked. I suppose its permitted if its not advertised? But whoa...thats kinda hardcore activites for a showcase sim. (Im talking about the horse thing in particular,Im really no prude)
  16. Forgive me in advance if I wandered "off piste" in this sim- but I visited this place today to take some photos for the blog...wandered around a bit..and was pretty shocked to find some rather unusual animations in some of the out buildings...its a Mature sim...and its in the showcase...with that sort of thing around I was a little shocked? (I went to take a photo standing beside the horse-then noticed that perhaps...it wasnt the best location..moved to another barn only to find uhmm "milking equipment")

  18. Some of my fav shoes come from HOC...superbly made..inexpensive and fabulous! Often , with a new release, if youre a group member you get additional colours in the HUD,just another bonus Price range 50 - 175L...great value. (and they have mid range heel heights also) GOS is another haunt...they have just launched a bunch of shoes that allow you to mingle different accents bows etc..I think around 495 for a pack of several colours...

It can be discovered but as soon as you promote the sale of such items in search then it needs to be adult. Roll on the removal of M and just give us back G and A. I dont want to be G or Adult..I prefer Mature..and I hope they keep it that way. No thanks to teenagers on my Sims :matte-motes-big-grin:
  20. The clothing I have bought that has/is sculpted and has also come with an alpha mask for various body parts is actually pretty fabulous, it just fits perfectly...no fiddling required.
  21. What you might have noticed is that quite a few designers now also give you an alpha piece...for the bust area or bottom...to make the item just fit perfectly..I love that. Yes Ive spent countless hours fiddling with a couple of items Ive had and not got a good result...I wonder if we can just buy an alpha for our body parts from somewhere and use that with the items we buy that require SO much playing around with? If it exists I havent seen it..but Id love to buy it if it is out there..

If they don't have a return policy (some stores don't now if it's on sale; at least that's what happened to me with a scanner I bought on sale, no returns, but the scanner worked out great for me and the price was unbeatable). So if there is a return policy, I'd say definately buy it and try it! Its a secondhand machine built up to a higher spec than it was..the price is so affordable..but no returns...was hoping i might find it heaps better than what I have right now...doesnt seem so though-thanks for the reply !
  24. oh bummer :matte-motes-not-even: I was hoping it would be a lot better than what I currently have...and I wondered about waiting and getting a newer one-thanks for the advice ! (I just wanted the shadows for photos yes, not for everyday wandering about)
