yep, I know what you mean. I can find plenty to do but its kinda lonesome on my own, and I have no success making friends on SL, people say they want to be my friend and I have even been called family by some, but they never actually want to hang out. or when it comes down to it, they don't have my back when I need them. Some have an agenda such as only adding me because they intend to spam me with invites to their club/dj set/event every time I log in. I find that generally people are rather shallow when it comes to SL friendship, or maybe I just have a high expectation of what being a friend actually means? Most of the people on my friend list never talk to me and I never talk to them. I feel so disappointed with the social side of SL, I really do. I have no skill in making or designing anything either, so I mostly spend my time alone, exploring, or pottering on my land with a few breedables. I do occasionally go to a club but I dislike the expectation that you must give a generous tip... I can't always afford to give away my lindens. Why am I still on SL? because I love the strangeness, the weird and wonderful places I can find, and being able to escape reality for a bit. I am disabled in RL so its nice to have a safe outlet, I just wish it was a bit friendlier.

yeah while ago i was renting a mainland plot to keep a few breedables on, there was open land all around, but one of the neighbours adjoining me had some sort of adult sex club somewhere high up in the sky. Which I wasn't remotely interested in or offended by, nor had i tried to go and snoop... why would I... the owner's profile told me all I needed to know and didn't want to know.. lol... anyway whilst trying to position a barn on the ground I must have inadvertently gone over their border by a tiny margin. Found myself instantly ejected without warning and permanently banned from their land. I was somewhat amused by this, and thought the neighbour must be very ashamed of what they are doing in that skybox, to do this. I understand they want privacy, which is fine, but it seemed a bit extreme to me. They could easily have set it to group only access only or something. or put up a barbed wire fence with rottweilers on guard, I dunno. I found it funny tbh....

I find bots intrusive and once I owned some mainland where the same bot would turn up every single day, and stayed for a looong while before it naffed off again, so i set a security orb which ejected it. then it went on appearing every day but just outside my boundary. it annoyed the heck out of me, so much so that in the end I sold the land and moved somewhere else. Where I live currently, there are several bots visiting but they seem to come and go when I am not there, which is not so bad, I am seeing about 4 or 5 on my security orb list every 2 days. Still annoying but since I don't see them when I am at home, I guess I don't need to worry and in any case theres not much else i can do about them.

i can tolerate having ppl around as long as they leave me alone, don't interfere or question what I do on my own land, don't have items encroaching onto my land, don't make unwanted sexual advances, and they build interesting stuff. Although I do prefer to live where there are no neighbours, to be honest. I am eternally disappointed by other people on second life. So-called friends who end up distancing themselves so you see each other log on, unless they are hiding, but never speak. So yeah, give me a nice quiet plot surrounded by abandoned land, or other eccentric loners like myself, and I'm happy.

People who add me as a friend and then bombard me every time I log on, with invites/tp's to their club/venue/event. Stop it, right now. Also being pestered for virtual sex is a big nono. These 2 reasons are why I have very few friends on SL.

I came back to SL after some years away and was unhappy to find myself under pressure to get a mesh avatar... then dismayed by the cost of everything... separate heads.. clothing... hair... all different body parts available to buy and all hideously expensive so I decided.. no thanks... not doing that. So I looked for an alternative and found a snake avatar .. I love snakes in RL.. and invested in snokra by orange nova. And now I wear it pretty much all the time. I love it. There is a shortage of clothing for it, which I find to be the biggest drawback. I play around with it by adding hair, glasses, etc., making it individual. As time passes I feel more at home with it. I have quite a few non human avies but never had any other that feels right for me like the snokra does. Snek forever.

Hi everyone. I rented a small piece of mainland to keep a few breedables on, and just now I was visited by a very creepy guy who was trying to hit on me and continued to bother me after I tp'd away. I was able to block him, I also wanted to ban him from my land, but couldn't do it, because when I tried to put him on the ban list, it said he couldn't be found. I think maybe he has unchecked the box on his profile that says "show in search"? I cant think of any other reason... does anyone know if there's a way around this? I really don't want this person anywhere near me. I don't think it's a rental/land rights issue, it just said he can't be found.

no I very rarely use voice, when I am online my rl partner will most likely be watching tv in the same room so it would be very inconsiderate of me to sit there babbling away. Also I have a hearing impairment and cant always hear voice properly unless I am very near to the person talking. I dont mind if other ppl talk to me on voice but I'm afraid it will be typed responses from me.

male friends who get thru women like a ferret up a drainpipe

having just had a very painful separation from my favourite breedable system (Foxtrot) I find myself left with a massive empty hole of sadness and boredom and I am looking for something else to fill the void, so I'm wondering what are the current preferred breedables? what do you recommend? hopefully something fun, different and not too costly... I already have Plantpets, Fawns and Buildables. Thankies.

LOL @ some of the comments on here, thanks guys... very entertaining I have a very nice landlord who has been helping me with this, haven't solved the mystery and probably never will, but he is now allowing me to put up ban lines, which he doesn't normally allow, he says he does not permit or use bots so its definitely not that. anyone else who comes knocking won't be able to access my land so hopefully I can relax now... don't want strangers turning up when I am in the middle of changing my unmentionables.

lol well maybe, I guess, I do have an unusual build, but the whole sim is so quiet. And they dont fly over from nearby plots, they TP in from somewhere. it's a private region with no stores or clubs or anything like that. A mystery which I will probably never solve. Oh well, they don't do me any harm, it's just annoying.

Hi, I have been renting land for a few months on a private estate and was happy with it, until recently when I started getting uninvited avies visiting me. It has been suggested to me by a friend that these "visitors" might be bots, used by the landowner or maybe even LL to monitor lag and land use, but I am not so sure - these visitors have detailed profiles, payment info used, and have been on sl for many years. They can appear right next to me, they don't speak, they leave shortly after arriving. Some of them belong to groups that I belong to. It's weird and I have resorted to using a security orb to get rid of them but they still keep coming and I am just wondering what this could be all about. I could be persuaded that they are just bots but why only recently, when I have lived there without interference for months? Why would someone suddenly begin to spy on me?

ok so I had some help inworld from a good friend, to solve this. To begin with. I was using the official viewer, and neither of us could find the option to toggle edit terrain. I am shocked by this being omitted, because it left me wide open to this sort of thing happening. BUT even if I had been using firestorm (I have switched now btw) , the option would have only been available to the landowner. So, as a renter, I still could not have changed the setting. My friend who was with me tried and found that he could terraform. I don't know if this is the standard with mainland rental, and might be the only way they can permit you to terraform the land you have rented - but it does seem to leave you vulnerable to others coming along and messing with your land. it might sound trivial but when it does happen, it feels like a massive invasion of privacy. I thought the rental was a cheap solution for my storage problems but honestly not worth the hassle. Lesson learned. I didn't know about this stuff because I recently returned to second life after some years away and a lot has obviously changed. Thanks to all on here who tried to help.

I'm not using firestorm, I am using the standard viewer, and the option to allow edit terrain is definitely not there for me. has it been removed?

I did say this already, but yeah.. I checked the group and they were not members. I can't figure out how it was done, at all. Unless they left the group before I checked.

I don't even know how it's possible. I rented some mainland to use for storage of my breedables, it was cheap, and seemed a good option at the time. I don't have full control but wearing a group tag allows me to terraform and place objects. I went to the land this morning to find the neighbours next door were busy building and terraforming, and had made big holes in my land... not just a little bit. great big squares of my land had been sunken. They disappeared when I arrived so I could not speak to them. My security orb recorded no visitors on the land, so it had been done from their land. I was able to repair the damage so no big deal I guess, other than... what the atcual heck is going on... I didnt think it was possible to alter someone else's land, even rented? this has made me very insecure about renting mainland and although I have paid a few weeks in advance I will not use this land again. it just feels unsafe. Btw I did check and their names are not in the land group either... I had wondered if they were members and that was how it happened... but they aren't on the member list. I am confused and somewhat disturbed by this.

I was away from SL for a number of years, when i returned I found that my avatar was somewhat out of date. a friend directed me to a free mesh body and mesh head. The head is genus, the body is classic. I played around with that till I was happy with it, and then realised that none of my old clothes would fit. Reverted back to my old avatar so that I could at least appear dressed in the world. Then i thought, lets try a fun, different avatar. so I bought a snokra snake. And I love it. I've had compliments and also some negative remarks. But now I have a problem. there might be times when I want to appear as a human again. So i tried to wear a human avatar again, but i cannot, no matter how i try, get it to look a human shape again. I have tried both my old avi and the mesh one. (including the mesh head.) But I still have an elongated neck, eyes popped out, deformed face. Nothing works to get it back how it used to be. I have tried to shorten the neck as far as the slider will go, it's still elongated. cant do anything with the eyes, which are several inches in front of my face. I have removed everything from the snake avi. The main body shape and skin are ok, its the head and neck I have trouble with. I put my mesh head on, and also tried with the old style avatar, no difference. has anyone else had a problem like this? is there some way to fix it or am I destined to be a snek forever..

well I have been checking the website to see if there have beeen any changes... and today, I found I had an option to "delete and update credit card info".... so , I proceeded with caution and found that it worked... so let's hope LL have listened and put it right. It then permitted me to purchase some L$ in the viewer, in world.. and I know my old card had expired so it would seem to have updated the info pretty quick. HOOOOOOOO.

really, why must we go through all this hassle just to give LL money? I really don't feel like entrusting them with my card info any more, since nothing seems to work properly. How do I know they won't mess it up? They ought to make financial transactions as smooth and efficient as they possibIy can, if they expect us to pay for stuff. I feel very insecure about the whole thing.. would you continue to want to use a credit card in a real life store, if there were major problems preventing you from making the payment? I think not. My gut feeling now is, unless they fix this pretty **bleep** quick, my second life is going to be over.

Does LL have any interest in people at all?
