  1. Just put in my order for my 'monthly' allotment of L$ (plus a small bit more) and funnily enough .... not as big an impact as some have been presenting it. Parcel rent, covered. Extra spending money, covered. all without much fuss or adjustment.
  2. Which is not what was being described and is a wholly different kettle of fish that needs to be fixed. Now am I being a bit too literal? Probably am. As I read it, the complaint was that merchant results were popping up in the Items search results - meaning you were seeing merchants, by themselves. Meh. Not something I'd notice unless I went looking for it.
  3. While it may be more than a bit skewed, from my perspective it is mostly unintentional and has more to do with the visiting human (or humanoid) being 'uncomfortable' for whatever reason.
  4. Unless I have missed something entirely ... no store or merchant individual listings show up in the Item search. If such is happening for you, do kindly provide the exact search string and where you originated that search.
  5. That's great and all but the fact remains that there are indeed people who think that way and believe such things. Further, ulterior motives or not - do not assume that it is just an act.
  6. Except that there are, indeed, people who think that way.
  7. Um .... Whisk (formerly Okaie) uses existing Mesh Bodies as their base so whatever clothing works for the mesh body should work for their mods. Further, with the parts listed (among others) what you end up with is .... an Anthro Rabbit.
  8. What your hypothetical does is unnecessarily complicate the entire process. That is the long and short of it.
  9. Answers started (and should have remained) as a section wholly separate from the Forum itself. I have that whole section collapsed and pretty much ignore it thanks t the current (lack of) implementation.
  10. Phrasing matters as does LL's track record with suggestions. Offered as one of many options is one thing and not an issue. The concern/worry is that such would not be the case.
  11. Congratulations, you just described one of the many ways that implementation could be botched. "Want 2FA? You can only use our Viewer to do it. What's that? You don't run Windows (or Mac)? Well to bad!" Alternately adding in a total shut down of the TPV directory, etc. No.
  12. We can agree on being done and on the nature of a forum in terms of it being "a living, breathing creature". Beyond that, you're responding to someone who has been using fora since before Facebook, ran one himself for a short time and actually understands that not all of them are run the exact same way. I'll leave it at this: For the sort of forum you ran? Your method of operation was proper. For something like this or similar? Not so much. Old issues can resurface, rhyming (similar) ones can crop up that might have some mitigating information in an older thread or might warrant a poke. Meh. Moving on. ETA: Related/tangential - What rather irritates me here in particular is the apparent inability of many users to use the Search function before posting.
  13. Were it any other company I'd have simply shrugged and not bothered to say anything. The last thing I want is a poor implementation, a broken one, one that removes the plethora of Viewer choices and many other things that could very well happen with a botched handling of this. And if you really think such would not happen, you're either incredibly new here or simply have not been paying attention at all over the years. The method(s) used/offered are not my major concern. Being optional is a lesser concern. It needs to be done right, without breaking anything at all (including being able to use TPVs) or shelved until such a time as it can be done right.
  14. That's nice. You're free to manage your own forum in that manner. It is quite apparent that it is different here. Adapt.
  15. Oh for ... That is great, that is also how you run your forum. It is not and has not ever been how this one is run and frankly every forum should not be run the exact same way. Is it irksome when an older topic with no relation at all to current events is bumped up? A bit. Hover over the topic, hit Mark as Read and move on. Unless it is being done as part of a Spam spree or something, there's no reason to complain about it.
  16. If we had them, you'd be getting a Groan or Facepalm reaction right now as opposed to this post lamenting the lack of said reactions.
  17. Oh for .... Another swing, another miss. Your "argument" (and variations) has been used each and every time someone has tried to defend the idea that Linden Dollars are an actual currency as opposed to tokens. Each and every time it has been laughed at and debunked. Linden Dollars are glorified Chuck-E-Cheese tokens, beginning and end. Their resemblance to actual currencies begins and ends within Second Life itself. Second Life is not a real world country, Linden Lab is not a governing body, the Lindex only superficially resembles a Stock Exchange/Financial Institution and no matter how much you protest, it will not change reality.
  18. PayPal does not do a single thing beyond sending your USD to Linden Lab and receiving said USD from Linden Lab.
  19. Oooh, swing and a major miss on that. Perhaps you might try to go to any shop/retailer/anywhere that is not Second Life (or related to it in some way) and try to purchase goods using Linden Dollars. Let us know how well that goes. No, you don't get to convert it through Linden Lab first. ETA: Owing to prior experience with those who have tried to rationalize similar views of the Linden Dollar, I'm terminating this 'discourse' before it goes further than this. It is not worth the time.
  20. Oh for .... While the Linden Dollar certainly is not a Cryptocurrency do not make the mistake of trying to pretend it is anything more than a Token that Linden Lab allows the users to both buy and sell. They're glorified Chuck-E-Cheese tokens that the store decided they'd buy back from you.
  21. Those streaming services make their hikes over a period of time instead of in chunk bursts. Bit of a difference there.
  22. Partially from data conflation between absolutely basic hosting services/more advanced services and AWS/what LL need(ed/s) for their setup. This is not a basic web page nor a Minecraft or blasted Game Host Server. The costs simply do not compare at all. Another user already chimed in earlier to try and correct some of this and was brushed aside/ignored.
  23. And yet you did not mention whatsoever that it was pure speculation until your prior response nor did you cease mentioning it as some potential reason. As far as the fee increase ....Boy did you miss what was being said by a mile. They have made large jumps in varied costs, fees and other things before, that was the beginning and end of that. You can stop trying to find an increase of "hundreds of percent" in their past now. Gads .... Were's an Eye Roll reaction when ya need one ....
  24. Repeated mentions goes a wee bit beyond "speculating" especially when done the way you have. As far as what is "logical" .... Sorry, this is how Linden Lab has done many things in the past and is - in that light - perfectly "logical". If you do not want responses on a particular topic or train of thought, do not mention them.
