  1. Do note that nowhere have I stated as such. I have stated the reality. Do with that what you will but do not try to pretend I have said anything that I have not expressly stated.
  2. Yeah ... People can (and have) taken chat logs, snapshots and other such things and posted them up outside of Second Life. Not all of them bother to identify who they are/were in those situations. It doesn't much matter if these things can be faked (and really more people do need to bear both that they can be faked and that it doesn't much mater to some in mind) - there is nothing preventing a user from doing this. What you think the Privacy Policy is saying ... would be worded considerably differently if such were the case. People log and screenshot. They can do pretty much what they want with those logs and screenshots. those third parties (such as law enforcement) have pretty much always been able to get this information by request. if anyone needed a Privacy Policy to clarify that for them ... Well that's a problem on them.
  3. What happens in Second Life stays wherever whomever was present and taking screenshots, logs and other such things decides to place it (be it just on their own computer, a blog or elsewhere). Now if you honestly believe otherwise... boy do I have a nice deal for you on an absolutely fabulous pre-owned bridge!
  4. Not a problem Rowan. It should be (importantly) noted that the IP address is in no way exposed to the Estate/Region owner by this.
  5. The ban type mentioned does not require media access - this is not the first time something like this has come up and I recall (vaguely) that at one point it was revealed that Estate/Region level bans (not the ones on the Parcel lists) do factor in IP for a time after via LL's own systems (meaning the server side, within LL's own systems).
  6. Yeah, not quite what I was talking about, @Scylla Rhiadra. It's the reactions some have had to the closures of those four threads, the attitudes of a few users, the inability of some to accept explanations when they are given ... Really the list for this particular event goes on. And this is not the first time some of them have acted in such a manner.
  7. A club I often frequent presents itself as a converted space freighter and if it is packed enough, I sometimes fall almost through to the cargo bay, three decks below the landing point!
  8. They get it from Profiles - period. The Web Profiles are being phased out (even the most recent LL Official Viewer no longer uses them - at least not as a default). Those Web Profile settings are meaningless and have been since their inception.
  9. Unless it impacts you directly in some way, why should such matter to you? That is their issue for making sure a mistake concerning your status as a Bot or not.
  10. FS settings but still ... These are all one should need - forcing a user to log out should not be an enforced setting. ETA: Meaning in general a user should be able to choose if/when they are logged out for inactivity. This isn't some MMO ...
  11. As for the traffic numbers in legacy search .... It has long been the case that such numbers have incredibly little meaning. if one is paying attention to those ... that is one them. As to the AFK Timer: One did (possibly does) exist in the Viewer. I know it does on TPVs. it is user settable. I see no reason to change that.
  12. Attempting to "think for" other users - especially those who might not be as "savvy" - is an arms race that I quite frankly no longer have the patience, motivation or "spoons" for (in fact on that last, I am down to "forks" at best). I'll be quite brutally honest on that: If you're prone to falling for such things, you've not been paying attention whatsoever or are naive. Both need to be corrected, as soon as possible. I am not going to be the one to do so. You're welcome to take up that mantle if you wish - be wary of burnout.
  13. Stating what is, is not "stubbornness". That information being on an external site that can be seen (and is at this point, known) is the least of my personal concerns. "If you get hit with a scam" ... I have an oh so lovely method of dealing with messages purporting to be from Linden Lab and asking me to go to pages for log-in, verification and such: If I did not make the request, it gets binned. if It sounds like it might be something that did not require a prior request, I check elsewhere first before binning it.
  14. Payment Info Used has always been visible. There have always been people who would attempt to target them - outside of perhaps an uptick, not much has/will change as such users already had that target on their backs.
  15. I just linked you to the LS page that contains the data on that particular script call. It does not do anything more than read the Account Level. An LSL Script can only do what is allowable within the framework of LSL - to do anything more would require execution of calls to open external webpages, functionality that requires certain settings/permissions on the end of the one being acted upon. An account utilizing the LSL function outlined above will not be able to view more than what is being called and even if a call is made to open an external, malicious website that call must target an external avatar who then must open that page in some way. As for "being 100% certain" ... What a ridiculous bit of criteria. I'll be clear on my feelings regarding such: If that is your metric for these things, there is no point in bothering to respond (in text) whatsoever.
  16. Feeling secure enough with regard to what data, specifically? The mentioned call only returns account level. Nothing more.
  17. Covered in the prior threads: it's a script function that anybody can use. Linden Lab added it recently so clearly they believe otherwise with regard to whom should have access to it.
  18. Nope - not how the system works, not how it has ever worked and expecting otherwise is on you. All of this is known or has been covered in a multitude of threads on a variety of subjects (not just this one) and it was indeed covered in the prior thread (and possibly the original as well). Utilize the system and options you have and if those are not enough, file a Feature Request. At this point, this has been covered and explained to you repeatedly - someone else may choose to continue to do so if they are so inclined.
  19. If Teleport Routing is not set, anyone can TP to those exact coordinates Even if set, in many instances all it takes to bypass that is being on the same Region - this is intended Setting a Parcel to not be public access only bars users up to a rather smallish altitude Users named directly as part of the Linden system ban list are barred from the entire parcel Security devices require you to set them up - do so This was all covered in the prior thread(s)
  20. Indeed. People seem to miss that the Adult region rating encompasses a wide variety of potential content and behaviors. There is a dearth of (inaccurate/mis)information out there ....
  21. It was answered. People (myself included) found the answer lacking - that is something entirely different. To someone like myself, the answer to why it was shut down is rather obvious when one examines the way such things tend to go, especially here. There is no sense whatsoever in allowing people to use the forum to foment unrest, paranoia and such now is there? If I (personally) wish to discuss that further, it will be elsewhere.
  22. Except that it did. By the very nature of the thread. Something that was only a matter of time to have happen - a thread opened to rehash a topic that was covered and answered.
