  3. Wait... We have an single individual that represents us? It seems to me that this group is made of many personality types, differing opinions and a lot of laughter. The group is a little different at each gathering - some will come others wait until the next gathering. We live in different time zones and countries. The great thing is that through SL we have a place we can gather to celebrate those differences and all we have in common just being human beings. There is good natured teasing, support, dancing, laughing, jokes and the feel of family. As far as I know, no one has ever been pressured to do anything or behave a certain way. That being said, there is one, who will remain unnamed, who has threatened to cleanse my soul of sin in the burning pits of hell... Bring it on! My sins are safe. Cinn
  4. Okay... This is bad, but my guilty pleasure is what itunes calls the Irish drinking song. All of them - as long as I am laughing at the end.. .
  5. Good morning! /me sneaks in and selects a donut with sprinkles on her way to work. @ Val - it was nice to meet you and say a quick hi yesterday. Hopefully we can have more get-togethers. (((hugs))) Cinn

  7. I do not consider SL to be MY world or MY imagination. It was built by others and is populated by many. I am a very, very small piece of that. I have control over only a small bit of what that world consists of - my avatar and the actions it takes. As a tag line it sounds good, but it is not my view of what SL is. MY world and MY imagination would be controlled entirely by me - and that would be lonely indeed... Someone who is perfectly happy to share the imaginations of others sometimes, Cinn
  8. Do you go to certain places to make friends? No, I find that friendships are completely random and by chance. Every single person I meet is a potential friend. How great is that? Do you speak to people first or wait to be spoken to? I will occasionally speak first, but usually it starts with an IM from someone. I have been in SL for more than a year now and I have never met anyone that was truly mean. Even the people who attempt to grief have not been treated badly. I've made a few friends being nice to griefers. Do you attend events? Yes, I recently started attending events. This is an area I would like to improve in. Usually my free spirit just takes me where ever the winds blow me. I never know where I'll end up each time I log in. Do you join groups to make friends? Another thing I have recently done - yes, I have finally started joining a few groups. I do better with one-on-one conversation, but I am getting use to the fast pace of group chats. You know... Look away for 30 seconds and the topic of conversation has changed 3 times.... I am looking forward to making some friends this way. So far, so good. Most importantly are these people truly friends or do you consider them acquaintances? Mostly my friends list is filled with acquaintances, but there are a select few that I have become very close to. The ones I hope are on when I log in. The ones I really look forward to seeing. The ones whose friendship follow me into real life when I log off and who, when I I think about them, have me breaking out in giggles that make people around me wonder if I am sane. The ones who have the power to move me to tears, laugh hysterically or see the world in a new way all in a magical, virtual world.
  9. /me tiptoes in under the radar It was nice to finally meet a few more of you wonderful ladies last night. I am going with lively, slightly naughty, semicivilized, polite, but unsubdued as the correct describing words. Can't wait for the next time... (((hugs)))
  10. I am holding firm, Dres. How about we catch a nice live blues show next we're both in SL together. I promise to give you my undivided attention... I can't believe you called me a big fat meanie.. *sniffs* :matte-motes-crying: That is so... So... Excuse me again. I have an in-coming message...

  12. I really suck at lying, so I don't even try. I can juggle 3 chat windows and local, but often find myself with more than that. It is almost always first come first served. The first 3 people to IM I will chat with. Beyond that I just say hi and I'm sorry I have too many chats going right now. I have never received a negative response and try to contact those people the next time I am on. Most of my friends know I am slow to respond sometimes. There are a few people or conversations that require focus. In those instances the person receives my undivided attention. In fact, when I meet someone really interesting I will tell them they require focus. I excuse myself and politely close everything else I have open. I will also focus on one conversation when I have made previous plans to meet someone. No reason to lie. A simple "I already have plans this evening" usually suffices. I don't usually miss IM's completely and I never ignore, but... Dres? Would you please excuse me? I made plans already to post in another thread. Can I take a raincheck on that chat? Cinn
  13. Is that the one I just heard about on the east coast of the US? Hope you are okay...
  14. Orfeu Miles wrote: Some interesting reactions to the Oldbies poking their snouts into this thread. From: "Get off my lawn" :matte-motes-big-grin-evil: "Its the Oldbies fault we couldn't have nice things" "Whaddya mean this forum has no Personality….Personality, I haz it" to "Welcome back…help us fight the good fight". I see the universal propensity to whining hasn't abated much…although less couched in inflammatory swearing. So this incarnation of the SLF is now a Care-Bears picnic. Cool. I am psyched for y'all. :matte-motes-evil-invert: I would merely point out, that the voice of dissent is a useful thing…that people who disagree with us…and can state why in an eloquent and persuasive manner….are also builders of community. Furthermore…the original founding sentiments of SL, are built on a largeness of vision…an acceptance of danger, disagreement and loss…as well as an ability to co-operate and come together…. these ideals are in danger of being swept away by a glossy sanitized version of SL. What initially attracted me to SL…and this forum…was the variety of expression and viewpoint. A culture of tolerance towards difference. There are of course a very tiny minority who are downright trolls…with nothing useful whatsoever to contribute. Alas…this label is also used to stifle dissent…to tarnish those who simply disagree with us. You might well draw the line in a different place than I do. I would argue for a more inclusive spirit to the SLF. This includes accepting contrary opinions, and styles…without resorting to reporting to moderators….or off-handedly labeling people as trolls. Some peep's style is warm and cuddly…others prefer a sharp and abrasive discourse. Its a big world….a big Second Life…and a big Internet. So your style is different than mine. So What ?? @Cinnamon… Nice Post ^^This post^^ I reposted because I thought it needed to be repeated... Once more: <snip> Its a big world….a big Second Life…and a big Internet. So your style is different than mine. So What ?? <snip>
  15. I guess I'll respond to the original post. I enjoyed the old forum . I enjoy the new forum. It is different, misses out on some of the eccentric personalities and seems to be a work in progress, but many of the posts and posters are still lively and colorful. If what you are after is drama, the trolling and flaming still goes on. If what you are after is 'being right', there are still plenty of people here to call you an idiot or accuse you of being brain damaged. If you have forgotten the difference between a fact and an opinion, someone will be here to remind you. If you get your jollies derailing threads, you can still do that. If judging others based on your own morals makes you feel superior, go for it. If you want to be hyper-sensitive to every dissenting comment, that is your right. If jumping at obvious baiting is your thing, someone will dangle a carrot in front of you and pop some popcorn. If the need to defend yourself outweighs the need to allow others their opinions, you have found a home here. In fact, if you feel your opinion is more right than mine, please feel free to let me know. Is it perfect? No. Is anything in life perfect? Probably not. I think the current forum is what each of us makes it. We all have the power to respond or not. Each of us finds different things fun. Even the ones who like to complain still return to do it over and over again. I enjoyed the old forum . I enjoy the new forum.
  16. /me sneaks in after a long day at work. "Did someone say there is a nice cold glass of Guinness? If it would help, I will gladly drink it instead of letting it get warm."
  17. @ Storm - I can find nothing even vaguely Eden like in that song. I don't remember it sounding so bad... @ Ceka - I have never actually seen American Idol. In fact, I don't seem to watch network TV at all, and you just reminded me why... @ Venus - /me holds hands over ears and screams, "Make it stop!!!! Make it stop!!!" @ Chonometria - I lose - HAHAHAHAHAHA I am awake, alert and ready for my day. Oh wait - it's almost midnight . I have already posted music in some other threads. I will not subject the general public to a repeat of it. The Centers for Public Health might come knocking at my door....
  18. I just HAVE to post this.... I tried to find a decent cover for it so I wouldn't feel so old.... This was released 2 years before I was born. Yes, I am that old....
  19. This will be a bit of a stretch for me. I don't normally listen to pop music. But, in the interest of not making everyone's ears bleed, here are 6 songs that I like that might possibly have been on the radio at some point in time:
  20. I just continue to miss these get-togethers... There are several of you that I would like to meet and I would love to finally get to hear Lillie sing. Her reputation precedes her. Soon! I will be there soon... Keep the coffee warm for me please. I must have missed something important. What exactly is this conspiracy that is being attributed to the LWL? Last I heard it was just music, friends and silliness. No matter: I can not believe I just posted an lolcat Cinn
  21. In order to wake up in the proper mood, the alarm clock is attached to my mp3 player. The same song wakes me up each morning. Ah, yes, music. I like it loud and aggressive which is the exact opposite of my personality. Please turn the volume on your speakers down.
  22. @ Charlotte: "Inconceivable!!!!" @ Dillon: YES! I can't believe I forgot about Buckaroo Banzai!!! Loved that movie. Now I need to see if I can find it to share with my kids..... /me grumbles about old vhs format....
  23. If you ladies are going to do something subversive, I would like to throw my support behind you 100%. Just send me the secret time and LM of this meeting and I will be there to continue whatever plot you have going on. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: Like I have said previously, if it is rebellious or anti-authority, I will be there to encourage and motivate. I am a very good role model... Promise.... Cinn
  24. This is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I can't count the number of times I have watched it and it never gets old. My 3 daughters and I have it memorized word for word, from beginning to end. You probably won't want to watch it with us.
