  1. You seldom, if ever, see Second Life advertised at all anymore. There are many people who don't realize it still exists. Surely LL can afford a small ad campaign. I occasionally see an ad on the blog of current residents, which is read mainly by people who have already signed up, so there's no point really. I agree that it would be best if the new homes were completed first and a few improvements were made, but a total re-branding and advertising campaign would work wonders, in my opinion.
  2. Yes you can. If you opt out of the new homes, you're still allowed a 1024m parcel without monthly fees.
  3. TPing onto a parcel listed for sale and landing under the water, beneath a sea of island prims. Or into a skybox. Or a tree. Or one that's for sale, but only accessible by a group. Recently, I landed in the giant fake land prim under a house. CHECK YOUR LANDING POINTS. *scurries away in her fuzzy slippers, trying to remember where she left her coffee*
  4. I prefer the gas station coffee anyway. it's cheap and strong here.
  5. I recently came back after a long absence. I "think" I've finally figured out mesh and given up on my once popular twitter feed (everyone's on Facebook now, go figure!) but there are still lots of great things to learn. If you'd like to add me as a friend, we can sort it out together.
  6. Do you enjoy the sunset over the water, the sunrise over the horizon and water views, but not really the "beachy" type? Then the beautiful Auville Heights parcel is for you! Surrounded to the west, east and south by large abandoned parcels and rising high, overlooking the surrounding area, this parcel is perfect for your woodland cottage, fantasy build or quiet retreat. Parcel can by lowered to become level with surrounding land. The photos below were taken with maximum draw distance settings. This 1024m land is available now for L$2200. See it inworld here: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Auville/245/170/61/
  7. In the U.S., I've always had to provide either my SSN or Tax ID number whenever receiving payment from services online. Etsy, AdSense, Blogmutt, etc. for tax purposes. Income is taxed and corporations have to report it. It's just a fact of life.
  8. Pop on over to the "Mainland Parcels for Sale" thread. I happen to know there's a nice 1024 water parcel there cheap *cough cough*
  9. The Bramant Island parcel is a quiet, 1024m square water lot. To the east and west are tasteful builds. To the south is a large vacant parcel, with a smaller one to the north. Just beyond the northeastern border is a protected waterway (the markers are visible in the second photo,) perfect for boating. This serene, low-lag island is available for L$4700. L$3900 See it inworld here: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bramant/77/192/21/
  10. Did you offer him pie to verify his identity? I miss the old Bobby.
  11. I recently returned to SL after a few years away. I lost my job about three years ago and after a series of events, it became evident that I wasn't going to be working anymore. I live in a very remote area and have few friends. I became almost a recluse. After my old computer finally bit the dust and I was able to upgrade, I decided to try SL again. I used to be super friendly and had lots of friends on the grid, but my RL, I have learned, has invaded my experiences in SL. I struggle to make friends or even move from the back corners of busy dance floors. I've found that in SL, I can push myself to speak up more, to take more chances. I still spend most of my time changing my little parcel around, sorting inventory, etc., but I do venture out occasionally. I went from feeling totally useless for the past three years to starting a small business and blogging again. I can say it's helped my self esteem already, but I'm still working on it.
  12. Ooooooo! I'd like one too. Please? and Thank You
  13. As far as eyes go, static poses are best, but I usually just let my AO do it's thing and take a few at a time until i "catch" the right pose. For settings, I use the windlight presets in Firestorm that others created specifically for photos. Also, I enable anti-aliasing and the advanced lighting model in photo tools. I just have to remember to change them back when i'm done because my computer will crash if I don't. Hope that helps. I'm still learning myself.
  14. Still available! https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bramant/77/192/21/
