  1. Yes, I think i know to whom you're referring. The GD forum is a different animal now, though, and i doubt it's going to change back to what some people wish it still was. This must be very disappointing for those forum 'personalities' of the past. I also notice that Storm's amusing post of (i think) yesterday has been removed. This would suggest that the moderation is still much as it has been, IE, on the heavy-handed side.
  2. It may surprise you to know, but most of the current forum posters don't read the "external attack blogs". I, for one, have zero idea what you're talking about -- and i speak as one who's read some of those blogs (and given up out of sheer boredom). What IS "going on here", exactly? Anything? Nothing? Your post confuses far more than it explains. Post here. Don't post here. Up to you.
  3. I use voice on occasion but i'm a little shy with it. It can be a lot of fun if you're out exploring or at a venue with a friend or two, and you're all on voice. It's also quite charming to find that others enjoy your accent, and vice versa. As one who has never liked their own voice, I appreciate that a lot -- or i do when i get over the initial nerves! :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  4. I have tons of skins, Curio and many others, cos i like to change skins frequently. Curios are easily recognisable but they're also highly detailed. They're popular 'cos they're good. Plus the underlying shape defines the look just as much as the skin, so you can still look individual. I found this designer to be pretty helpful in the past, but one's MMV. Guess she was short on time that day and didn't care to elaborate further. *shrug*
  5. I like those sorts of blogs, too. :matte-motes-grin: Caitlin Tobias has one that isn't bad and she seems to get about a bit. Just google her name.
  6. I can't log in using either V2 or Phoenix (nothing to do with graphics card or PC specs), i simply get a message saying "log in failed". I checked the SL Status Reports site and there's nothing there, so am clueless as to what's gone wrong. Anyone else out there experiencing same and any idea what's going on? Thanks.
  7. Uhm. Perhaps it's just me, but I've seen so many variations of that "pricing" profile here and there! It's hardly original. :matte-motes-nerdy:
  8. My walls go when i'm about to lose my internet connection. It's my first warning.
  9. Perhaps if you were to post here now and again you'd get a feel for why people like it here. But i think you probably know this place pretty well under another account, yes?
  10. Hello. I don't know if this helps at all (probably not) but i've found that people who seem to be 'missing' when searched for in V2 are, for some reason, visible in Phoenix viewer search. Might be worth a try.
  11. Two, but not at the Cartel. One i bumped into randomly. The other i think cammed me from the Cartel (i lived closeby at the time -- didn't even realise, lol).
  12. You could try Graves, as well. I saw one in there the other day that was nothing but straps... comes in black or white. Just do a search on Graves or Jackie Graves and look up her 'picks'.
  13. Thank you, thank you, Dana! Yes, this would explain it. He did say earlier today that "lag" was causing him not to see the full bounce, and that made me think the problem was possibly his side. He has rezzing issues too, where i tend not to. Your advice makes me happy because (1) the problem isn't my side and (2) it's fixable. Why can' t i give you kudos for this?
  14. Where have LL stated they wanted to make SL more like a game? Or do you mean they want it to run more smoothly like a "proper" "gaming" platform? (Sorry; my knowledge of online gaming is limited so i can't really give examples. I'm assuming you mean things like WoW?) AFAIK, SL has always been laggy and glitchy as hell. We'd all like that to improve. That said, it's not going to to happen anytime soon so best accept the situation as is and continue to make the best of it. It's what we all do; those of us who stick around, anyhow. It's good to hear you're enjoying your SL, regardless. :matte-motes-smile:
  15. Thanks to all who answered. I still am stuck 'cos whilst i now think it's a bug, on whose side would it be, mine or my partner's? We both use Phoenix viewer. I am the jiggler, he is the jigglee....hmmm.....that doesn't sound quite right. OK, so let's call him the one being jiggled at. :matte-motes-big-grin: But seriously, is there anything that can be done to fix the discrepancy? I don't think the problem is in the physics layers themselves. It's how they're being seen.
  16. Are you sure? Spammers mail millions of addresses at a time. Some of the addresses they mail aren't actual email addresses at all, it's like a guessing game, but some of the addresses will turn out to be actual people's email addresses. They hit enough of those to make it worthwhile to them, i guess. AFAIK, you can't stop the spammers sending to you; you can only make use of the filter tools provided by your mail client. . As an example, i started up a Live Journal for my cat some years back. Cat had his own email address soley for Live Journal notifications (not a LiveJournal email address). A couple of months down the line and cat's email account was being spammed mercilessly. I was convinced that this couldn't happen, but it did. Even with having our own mail server in the shed, it happened. I wouldn't be so quick to blame LL if i were you.
  17. Excellent post, and so so true. There's no excuse for anyone to look less than fab given all the quality, free stuff we can get our hands on. Does the free stuff have to be current, or not? Idk if i have time to do this, but just checking. :-)
  18. @ Caren. I'll try it. I don't understand it though. What you say sounds like actual physics i failed with flying colours many years ago. I'm a bit worried i'll mess it up. Oh, well, we can get a laugh from it if i do! :matte-motes-big-grin:
  19. Yes, i'm using Phoenix, Cerise. If it's a bug, i want to cry. :matte-motes-crying: I seem to be subject to EVERY bug going and i hate it! I wonder whether if i reinstall it will clear it up.... probably not. May be worth a go, though. Oh! I wonder if it's him who has the bug and not me! LOL. I'll get him to reinstall first; see if it helps.
  20. I have a problem with the new avatar physics attachments. How is it that where i see only a gentle jiggle-wiggle, my partner sees my bits flying in all directions like electrocuted jellyfish? We both use the same viewer, and we both have the relevant box checked and the slider pushed up to max. I haven't fiddled with any other settings; just trying out the physics i've found ready-made on Marketplace and elsewhere. Can anyone help me get my jiggle on so that he and i see things the same? Many thanks. :-)
  21. Hmmm. If he follows the advice given and isn't careful, the OP runs the risk of sounding VERY scripted and not in the least bit spontaneous or off-the-cuff. Does it matter? To me it does. But then again, i'm a long way off my first time. :matte-motes-bashful-cute: Generally speaking, it's MUCH better to use your own words if you can. You'll sound so much more sincere.
  22. I had it with the last but one Phoenix download. I seem to be a little better now but still don't know why it went funny on me. Unless it saw me coming... :matte-motes-oh-rly:
  23. @ Rhonda I wish i could give you kudos for this. And, speaking personally, i still can stand to learn a thing or two. Your 2 line limit isn't bad at all. I've been known to write rather more but, fortunately, my partner and i are on the same page where that's concerned (we love the whole writing thing) so we enjoy that. I agree that on a first date a mini novella could overwhelm her, or do i mean underwhelm her? Either way, one wouldn't want to overdo it. One thing i'd add for the OP's benefit: When your date begins to 'warm up' a little and is responding to you in a positive way (perhaps by touching you), you could say to her: "I love it when you do such & such. It makes me feel ......" (and then describe the way it makes you feel). By doing this, she'll know that you're enjoying yourself, too. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  24. I'm sure with a bit of hunting around you can find skin and shape to suit your requirements. There are so many options out there and you don't need to spend a small fortune, either. Ok, so you'll need to try on lots of demo's (time consuming, i know) but that's half the fun. Custom work is *not* cheap. :matte-motes-smile:
