  1. Thank you for all your replies. It appears i will not be able to use this feature. I do, of course, save pictures to my hard drive for later editing if i want to upload them to Flickr etc. However, for the purposes of the Twitter feed the whole idea was to be spontaneous (even impulsive!) and upload raw, unedited shots with a sentence or two of commentary. Having to save pictures to disk or even sending directly to email and copying from there defeats the whole object for me. I do appreciate your suggestions and understand that this problem is down to Twitter changes and not SL, so thank you all for clarifying that for me. It's rather disappointing but i'll get over it. :-(
  2. Hello there, i wasn't sure where to post this so i apologise in advance if i'm in the wrong section and trust that it will be moved to the correct slot. I've been trying to upload snapshots to Twitter without success. This is a feature that, AFAIK, is offered across all viewers, but doesn't appear to work on any consistently. Any ideas on anything i can do myself to eliminate this annoying bug if, in fact, that's what it is? I'm assuming a bug because i hear that the Twitter feature works for some people and not others. I really, REALLY want this feature to work. I'd be very grateful for any theories or suggestions offered. Thank you. :-)
  3. I'm going to build a web in this corner here and dangle for a while ... see what happens :-)
  4. I'm a little puzzled. You say that you've changed viewers and now all of a sudden you're able to have your settings on high with no lag. In your initial post your settings were about as low as low could be, and you said that you still lagged. I'm glad you've found something that works for you, but astonished that switching viewers could make such a vast difference. Normally you'd only get that kind of improvement by upgrading your graphics card (as i know from experience).
  5. Thanks Marianne. I installed the new FS and the problem appears to have resolved itself. I'd still like to know what caused it and what to do if it rears its ugly head again but at least i have options now regarding whom to ask for help. :matte-motes-inlove:
  6. I hope someone can provide some advice on this. I was chatting away when i lost the chatbox (i was doing a couple of other things at the same time). I clicked on her IM tab which showed her messages still popping up briefly, but i couldn't reply and i couldn't get the conversation panel to show up again. I then left clicked on her avatar and tried all ways i could think of to IM but nothing worked. I relogged but the problem persisted. So now i can't IM anyone at all and when i click to try i just get that annoying noise (the one that means "you can't do that" or "forbidden action"). I've never had this happen before and i don't know what to do! :matte-motes-agape:
  7. I think he/she was referring to *my* attitude, Perrie, not yours. :matte-motes-bashful:
  8. I don't find this to be an acceptable solution at all. Sculpted items should be rendered in as much detail as possible or they don't look right. Seeing them as they're meant to be seen, ie, without missing *a lot* of detail requires LOD factor of at least 3 and preferably nearer 4. I don't wish to gain on the 'swings' only to lose on the 'roundabouts' ! Eta: Your solution may work fine using a very short draw distance of, say, 52 but what about us landscape photographers? Busy clubs aren't the only environments where one experiences texture memory problems.
  9. Pardon me for asking but are you actually old enough to be participating (i refuse to use the term 'playing') in Second Life? You seem so VERY immature and quite unable to relate to others in a sensitive or meaningful way. You remind me of a spoilt child who hasn't learnt yet how to socialise with its peers (you want what you want and that's that). Many, many, many people don't completely separate SL and RL. It doesn't make them wrong and you right or vice versa. GROW UP!
  10. Leia, that's the message i get too or very similar. Weird how it only started a few weeks ago, but others on the thread who are far more tech savvie than i have some theories as to why. If they're right, then things *may* improve over the next several weeks / months.
  11. Thank you to all who answered on my previous thread regarding this problem. I know we don't have long to wait now, but i'm wondering whether Server Side Baking will lessen the texture memory problems that Perry, myself and several others have experienced. I sincerely hope so. My computer is maxed out on memory and i can't add anymore (or so i'm informed). Up until a couple of months ago i wasn't aware of ANY memory problems but now i can't stay in a packed sim for more than 5 minutes. It's really annoying. I don't want to visit half-empty clubs, i want to visit Ambrosia, dammit!
  12. Thanks for all your input. I tried Cool Viewer and same thing happened. Diffferent message but the intent was the same. It just seems weird that this only started happening a couple of months ago.
  13. Off topic, but you've inspired me to give this viewer a try. Perhaps it will make things good for me too. :matte-motes-wink:
  14. Thank you Dres & Nyll. I tried what you said, Dres, but it didn't work. :matte-motes-frown: Always happens at Ambrosia Nightclub but now i don't even get to enjoy ONE track before i'm kicked. Are all other TPV's set up for Server-side Baking? And windlight? I need a viewer that is ok to take pictures too. I don't really want to try them all out. I just want one that works. :matte-motes-bored:
  15. Any more ideas on how to fix this problem? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Running-Out-Of-Texture-Memory/td-p/1781809/page/3 So far i've tried everything. I've just done a clean install for the latest FS and still having this problem. If anything it's getting more frequent. Thanks, anyone. :-)
  16. Are you wearing a different AO than before? A hectic or 'busy' AO? I have a few mesh items that will only allow me to wear a very quiet or subdued AO; otherwise my butt keeps poking through. Otherwise, no idea, sorry.
  17. I won't mince words. Most hostesses i've seen/heard in SL are absolutely dreadful. They seem clueless about what they're supposed to be doing, as are those daft enough to employ them. Much of the time these so-called hostesses and 'professional' dancers ruin the entire experience with their inane drivel and gesturing. Sad but true. :smileyfrustrated: ETA: i also agree with the previous comment. The 'cliqueish talking' is dull and rude.

  19. The one thing I hate about defending my choice to wait to show my photo is that it puts me as the "bad guy" even though I am not. I hate being told I am hiding something or that its not fair you see my photo. It instantly makes me feel bad. Even though no I am not hiding and really its there choice to show there photo right away. It also makes me feel like if I dont live up to there standards Im not worth talking to. People (in my experience) who demand a photo arent looking for friendships, more like sexualships. No thanks dont do that either right away. Sephina, you should NEVER feel bad about refusing to reveal RL information. People who don't respect your boundaries aren't worth getting to know, full stop. THEY are the ones who ought to feel bad. At the very least they need to learn a bit of online etiquette.. Plus, SL isn't Dateline. Some people treat it as such and that's up to them, but SL is all kinds of things to all kinds of different people (as i'm sure you know). I do hope you'll meet some of those "all kinds of different" people in the future. :matte-motes-grin:
  20. Thanks, Raimi, i'm glad you enjoyed it. I need to remove the my profile pick about my ex-partner though. He dumped me. :smileymad:
  21. :smileyvery-happy:Ty, Syo, though i definitely need to add "TOS picks" to the list. Also, those profiles containing instructions on how one should behave in SL (i.e., how the profile owner thinks we should all behave). It's so patronising! And not forgetting the "i'm sooooo crazyyyyyy !!!!!!!!!" brigade. Read "mind-numbingly dull" and you'll likely be nearer the mark. I'm sure there are more but can't think of them off the top of my head. :smileyvery-happy:
  22. My profile turn-offs from a couple of years ago (perhaps i should compose a 'Part Two' as i've collected a few more since then) : http://talltales-epicfails.blogspot.co.uk/2010/09/whats-deal-with-sl-profiles.html?zx=97790859e8c70639 My own profile isn't perfect by any means but it's received many comments and even a few compliments, too. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
